Drudge disses Hot Air

A Hot Air commenter mentioned this last week: It seems Matt Drudge–Internet pioneer, New Media godfather, and tech entrepreneur–has a grudge against little ol’ Hot Air. He made some bizarre, disparaging remarks attacking this site and me on his radio show last weekend. Listen:
Transcript:
Just ugh. The things I want to say right now. But we’ve got an FCC. The things I want to say. Maybe we’ll do, uh, uh, a commentary on the Internet like Michelle Malkin. Maybe I’ll stand in front of like a blue screen and hold a banana and start talking into the Internets. (Sneering tone) ‘This is Matt Drudge reporting on Hot Air.’ Agggh. You know. It’s ridiculous. Looks like, you know, Captain Kangaroo time, Michelle. Get real.
“Get real?” Got whine?
We at Hot Air certainly don’t have the resources to look like the slicksters at CNN or the dinosaur networks. We don’t have multi-million dollar sets, graphics, and wardrobes like Katie Couric. We put substance first over bells and whistles. (You would think someone with a website design circa 1980 might appreciate our priorities.) That said, folks in the broadcast industry have had nice words about our production values and I’m proud of what our team has accomplished in less than a year. In fact, we’ve had broadcast network engineers and producers ask us how we do it. On the blog side, Allahpundit has turned the site into a must-read. We’ve gone from nowhere to a top-30 site on Technorati’s Top 100 list. On the video side, Bryan Preston (I guess he’s Mr. Green Jeans now) has edited and produced nearly 250 daily video shows since last April. Hot Air serves a whopping 14 terabytes per month. We’ve been fortunate to work with incredibly talented people across the country–photographers, animators, Photoshoppers, video editors, musicians, documentarians, and on-air talent. We love what we do here. We’re grateful that our readers/viewers come back for more every day and we strive constantly to improve and expand our products and programming.
What’s it to you, Matt, if we bring our little “banana” microphones and cameras to Baghdad or CPAC or the Doolittle Raiders reunion or the local illegal alien hangout or the Gathering of Eagles (which barely rated a blip on the almighty Drudge radar screen)? What’s it to you if authors find it worth their time to sit down with us for Internet broadcast interviews? Why does it bother you so? What’s it to you, Matt, if my fellow hosts and I spend our time standing in front of a green screen in our basement studio so we can practice the very kind of Internet citizen journalism you once preached yourself?
“Captain Kangaroo time?” Well, someone’s certainly acting like he’s in pre-school.
The Internet is a big enough place for all of us. No need to act like the threatened MSM’ers you became famous for revolting against years ago. As someone once put it so eloquently: “Now, with a modem, anyone can follow the world and report on the world.”
More from that great speech, Matt:
We have entered an era vibrating with the din of small voices. Every citizen can be a reporter, can take on the powers that be. The difference between the Internet, television and radio, magazines, newspapers is the two-way communication. The Net gives as much voice to a 13-year-old computer geek like me as to a CEO or speaker of the House. We all become equal.
And now, kids, back to our show…
Good morning, Captain, let’s come on out and play!
Good morning, Captain, it’s going to be a perfect day!
Get your crayons and your paper and your pencil, too
And come on out and play with Captain Kangaroo!

Got a little cheese to go with that “whine”, Drudgebo… ??? You’ve gone down hill quite aways. Some introspection may be in order. Hot Air whips your version of the Inquirer, any day, hands down… You used to be No. 1, now I visit you rarely. Better news on Fox, better commentary on Hot Air and several others. You need a little larger hat size, don’t you?

Well I take that back… that joke is completely in accurate and inappropriate – I should just say he make many people upset and he is unapologetic.

RW has it right.
Randon thoughts:
- any mention by Drudge means you’re big and noticed
- he’s not a blogger, and vehemently denies being one
- he’s not a rightie/leftie, though both sides think he’s the other…he’s an equal opportunity gadfly, though his personal beliefs are rather libertarian, leaning right, or unique to the man himself
- he’s the pioneer who made it with a laptop his dad bought for him, as a last chance for the ‘loser’ kid – for that we should always admire him, even if some don’t like him
- he’s very likely not jealous of HA or anyone else – no reason to
- he’s Ann’s friend, through thick and thin, same of her for him – two odd birds sticking together – good for them…
- his site’s style is fine and he can change it, or not – both political isles view him voraciously because they’ve become accustomed to the leaks he’s routinely served; to be noticed on his link, is to get traffic – HA knows and uses this often
- HA is great in and by itself – it didn’t steel his thunder – both exist for same/different reasons/purposes, and there is plenty of room for both and way more
- I found out about HA from a link on Drudge, I’m almost certain. Then waited for a long time until registration on HA was opened again.
- now he can mention HA again, kind of like Trump (who’s famous for knowing how good bad press also is), get a back-force going; both entities benefit because all other will notice, comment, search for…and the world will continue to spin successfully; and business will be good. And most of us will be informed, amazed, annoyed and happy.
I for one can’t ask for more as I check this site numerous times a day and Drudge once. I like both, for different reasons.
Entelechy on March 19, 2007 at 5:55 PM
I guess it should be said: Matt, Shut up and report the news.
Kini on March 19, 2007 at 5:58 PM
I guess I wasn’t the only one who used DRUDGE a lot as first stop, not so much anymore. My usage has steadily declined over the past year. There are more options – everyone’s websites are getting better, plus of course sharp newcomers like HotAir (BTW production is fine! and obviously always improving, so don’t worry about what static DRUDGEREPORT says.) The biggest reason tho’ is DRUDGEREPORT’s own dummying down. Not interested in Hollywood or airhead celebrities or say, the Oscars, but DRUDGEREPORT is increasingly dazzled by them. How about this weekend’s DRUDGEREPORT headline – record heat 99 degrees. It would be news for Boston in March, but Phoenix, Arizona??? The usual temps for March in Phoenix are around 95ish. Frankly, without a thermometer, the difference between say 95 and 99 ain’t all that noticeable. A stupid headline that adds to the global warming propaganda. Not a word on the Gathering of Eagles, which would have been genuine hot news that no other media outlet was showing — meaning, a “scoop”. B’Bye Drudge!
naliaka on March 19, 2007 at 5:59 PM
Drudge sounds like someone who’s on the verge of obsolescence. His derision is no different than what you’d hear from teachers’ unions regarding vouchers or homeschooling….or Hillary regarding taxpayers. Too bad.
Kid from Brooklyn on March 19, 2007 at 6:09 PM
Drudge is so 1990s.
I quit visiting that site regularly when I discovered first, Lucianne, then FR, and now Hot Air.
Now about the only time I even visit Drudge is when Hot Air or FR sends me there. Generally Drudge is hours if not days behind on breaking news; His format is badly organized and boringly presented.
As far as production values… Even the first Vent was quite good. Since then, it has generally improved constantly, to the point that now a lot of the segments are as high or higher than some of the stuff the networks and cable giants do.
LegendHasIt on March 19, 2007 at 6:09 PM

Allahpundit on March 19, 2007 at 6:10 PM
Ouch. Now that is gonna leave a mark!
wccawa on March 19, 2007 at 6:11 PM
Drudge doesn’t even have a blue screen… or a banana, for that matter. Drudge has a few guys that search through the tubes of the internets and makes links to other people’s work. He does nothing of his own. He has absolutely no original content. How much talent does that take? He’s got nothing on Hot Air! So what’s the real translation of what Drudge is saying. Let me spell it out for you.
……………… J-E-A-L-O-U-S-Y ………………….
This is a fantastic site, nobody has anything that approaches the quality of content I see on this Blog every single day! Don’t let a dunderhead like Drudge cause you to re-think how you do things here! Instead, you should look to Drudge’s silly non-substantive remarks as PROOF that you are doing it EXACTY RIGHT !
Maxx on March 19, 2007 at 6:11 PM
That comment by Druge made absolutely NO sense whatsoever!
What the heck is he talking about?
Weird!

William2006 on March 19, 2007 at 6:13 PM
Drudge? I stopped checking him regularly back in the 90’s
He spends too much time on entertainment news. (Even more than AllahP does here on Hot air… But while hotair mentions cultural events, new movie releases, etc… Drudge seems more focused on tabloid scandal crap.)
At this point the only blogs/news sites I check regularly are Michelle Malkin, Hot Air, Jawa Report, Foxnews, and nraila.org.
Jones Zemkophill on March 19, 2007 at 6:14 PM
PS: Drudge’s current bold
linkheadline? Duke lacrosse bla bla bla…Gee. Thanks, Matt.
wccawa on March 19, 2007 at 6:14 PM
OT, but according to weather.com the averages in Phoenix trend in the mid 70’s during March. Just FYI
And yeah, as a Democrat Drudge appears to lean right, especially with global warming links.
SouthernDem on March 19, 2007 at 6:15 PM
I used to read The Drudge Report everyday, a couple of times a day. Over the past few months, I have started to read Hot Air everyday before anything else. Maybe this is why Matt has his panties in a wad.
Troy Rasmussen on March 19, 2007 at 6:19 PM

Ergo, the bizarreness of his rant.
Kid from Brooklyn on March 19, 2007 at 6:21 PM
But..but…Drudge has those neeto stories of self-pleasuring Ex-American Idol contestants! Where else could you get that kind of info?…
Oh yeah, The National Enquirer.. Maybe Drudge is looking for the idea of a new gimmick which he probably got from watching this and singing along..

Well, even if/when you do get those kind of resources, I do like the design of this website but of course I come here for the content, not for high dollar graphics, sets, etc. Hot Air is as popular as it is for being smart, patriotic and honest (among many other fine qualities IMO).
Yakko77 on March 19, 2007 at 6:51 PM
Drudge hasn’t had a real scoop in eons. Most of his stories are regurgitations of what the MSM has already beat him to. What little original content he provides has about the probability of being accurate as does content from DEBKA.
tommy1 on March 19, 2007 at 6:57 PM
And how exactly is it that his format is better? He posts headlines…Am I missing something else that he does? Did I miss a diss from any of you affiliated with HA or MM to Matt? The formats are totally different, yet it appears one is threatened by the other..at least this site has the courage to leave the comments open..
If I haven’t said it before, I wish to thank the staff for making this site a pleasure to come to..It proves to me that people can talk about important and sometimes difficult topics, yet we can have fun while doing it.

Dunno if I can say it better than many others have already had. First things first, thank you Michelle, Ian, Bryan and Allahpundit (and everybody I may have forgotten).
There’s a couple of elements interplaying here in Matt’s attack. Despite never going through J-school, Matt sees himself as a journalist. Whether they’re liberal or conservative, they do, as a general rule, share a distain for the masses, and for those among them who see the masses as equals.
Next, everybody, from Hot Air to anybody with RSS feeds to the “dinosaur media” itself, has passed the Drudge Report by in his main business, news aggregation. I’ve got no less than 50 RSS feeds I monitor regularily (when I’m online, that is; I am not a 24/7 person), and I strongly suspect that that number is on the low end of the average Hot Air reader. Drudge isn’t one of them, partly because he doesn’t offer one, and partly because I’ve recreated what he’s done.
Even in his specialty, being the dumping ground for news the presstitutes can’t/won’t break themselves, Matt has faded badly. I can guess why, but I honestly don’t care as that’s between Matt and his (former) sources.
steveegg on March 19, 2007 at 7:04 PM
Drudge contributes nothing to the Internet. All he does is link to breitbart.com. And 3/4 of his links all have to do with global warming.
Hack Ptui on March 19, 2007 at 7:05 PM
Correct me if I’m wrong, but all the hits do is open the door to more advertisers, not make the site profitable.
And those hits are dropping rapidly at last check.
steveegg on March 19, 2007 at 7:08 PM
Matt *WHO*? All I need is HotAir and Lucianne.
Tony737 on March 19, 2007 at 7:08 PM
Random comments on some of what I’ve read so far:
1. Drudge is definitely to the right, and the comment on him being Libertarian is probably a good characterization. He has a few “pet” issues that he’ll link to a lot, including his pro-life position. And anyone here who thinks his “global warming” stories prove he’s a liberal don’t understand that he’s slamming them. Someone else has already said that, but another commenter made a comment showing that he has misunderstood Drudge’s intention.
2. Certainly Drudge and Hot Air are NOT addressing the same things. For me, Drudge is more for wondering what’s out there, what people are talking about, etc. Hot Air is more focused on politics (although there are some exceptions), and much more focused on analysis and interpretation. Of course, the video blogging is fantastic, and filled in a gaping hole in what I wanted to see on a website.
3. Is it just me, or Drudge doesn’t really do his own “reporting” or “leaking” that much anymore. A few years ago, he always had something that no one else had. Now, he just links.
4. I also used to spend far more time on Drudge. Drudge is still a site I visit every day, but nowhere near as often as I used to before Hot Air.
5. I also used to like the NewsMax site, but stopped with that awhile ago. Their fixation with Hillary Clinton is astounding. I used to play a game with myself, that there would always be a Hillary Clinton article link on the left where the Main Articles are kept. I don’t think it was EVER Hillary-free. Indeed, I checked it out a few hours ago, and there were tons of Hillary Clinton articles there.
asc85 on March 19, 2007 at 7:11 PM
I have been under the impression that Matt has delegated updating his website to someone else. I can’t put my finger on a specific example, it’s just a feeling that it’s not…the original.
For me it’s Drudge first, scan the headlines, careful to mouse-over the headlines and make sure I’m not being taken to some tabloid website I don’t want to visit.
Then straight to Hot Air. Not too much overlap in the stories, and I am glad and grateful both sites are out there.
I’m really sorry this controversy has happened. But as I have said before, it’s fashionable these days to attack one’s own.

I never go to Drudge’s site. Talk about Captain Kangaroo!! Just look at his signature hat. Umm. Yaaaa sure Matt, give yourself a movie star look in the mirror and move along. Mkay?
Hotair.com is “fresh air” in the world of news, of opinions and of entertainment.
Sounds to me that Matt has let his aging fame go to his head. Too bad, but it happens a lot–it’s human nature. Just try to keep from going that route yourselves Hotair.com. One sure way to end up as he did is to pay too much attention to internet office politics. Don’t go stale like Matt–wrapped up in your feelings of self importance.
Pay little attention to critics such as Matt. Operate this site in the way that makes you WANT to run it. Provide information. Provide your commentary, entertain, educate and have FUN!
Leave the blockish-font-poorly-organized links to Matt Drudge. He cornered an increasing irrelevant market and it sounds like he is now realizing it. He’s on the downslide, and it’s of his own doing. Remember, the fall always happens when you think you’re on top.

By the way — when I say people should e-mail MM and tell her to replace me if they don’t like my stuff, I’m not being cute or snide. It’s the only way she can tell if this is a common opinion or not. I don’t see the e-mails and you wouldn’t be banned even if I did, so there’s no cost to doing it, I promise.

dinasour on March 19, 2007 at 7:35 PM
Drudge’s hat, he admits, is a throwback to the days of Walter Winchell, the most despised newsman of his time. He also had a penchant for tabloid reporting.
pocomoco on March 19, 2007 at 7:37 PM
While MM is the ultimate decider, she’ll listen to us. Since AP opened the door to an anti-AP campaign, if those of us who want him around want to keep him around, we’ll need to open a “Save AP” one.
steveegg on March 19, 2007 at 7:42 PM
I don’t know what his problem is. His website design is ancient and is only good for breaking news. And every once in a while he will completely blow one. What a jackass.
WisCon on March 19, 2007 at 7:46 PM
Perhaps MM & Co. should think about going with a different layout (a la Drudge) for a day.
Just for sh*ts ‘n giggles.
The Ugly American on March 19, 2007 at 7:56 PM
Allahpundit adds a lot to this site. While Ian and Bryan (and of course Michelle) are closer to my political and style preferences, Allah’s somewhat libertarian tendencies keep us all a lot more honest and ‘grounded’ sometimes. Plus, he occasionlally injects a little fun into things.
Without Allah, we’d have to rely on honora (or the total fools) to keep from becoming too much of an echo chamber. (IMHO)

NTWR on March 19, 2007 at 8:13 PM
Entelechy said it all best (and I’m not just saying that because she agreed with some of my points)
Drudge isn’t jealous, but that in no way means I have anything negative to say about HotAir… it just simply has nothing to do with his comments.
I’ll repeat, I’d like to know the context in which these remarks were made. Drudge takes a lot of heat for “just linking to other people’s content” and not actually ever blogging, because people are under the impression he’s “a blogger”. He’s not, and gets irritated regularly when called one. I suspect he was on one of those rants after someone hasseled him. Perhaps a caller even told him he sucks compared to HA… I guess we’ll never know unless we get the full context.
Again, at this point his remarks sound pretty stupid, and I’m not defending them… But I think it’s clear he didn’t come back from a commercial break and launch in to an attack on HotAir.
Anyway, like I said, I by no means have any issue with Hot Air nor am I agreeing with Drudge’s statements in this clip.
I am however annoyed at the childishness of people who desperately want to prove their devotion to HotAir by unjustifiably bashing Drudge as some sort of has been. As AP himself noted earlier, I hardly think 10 million hits a day is killing Drudge inside. Further, he sees the IP addresses of people working for the MSM coming to his site hundreds of times a day to see what’s in the news.
Look, I like HotAir as much as anyone here. But I don’t think bashing Drudge as some sort of washed up dinosaur just because you’re mad at his comments in that clip makes any sense at all.
And dumb stuff like this:
He actually has pretty regular scoops. Even yesterday he leaked questions to be posed to Gore on Wednesday’s hearings. Not huge, but he has things like this all the time:
http://www.drudgereport.com/flash2.htm
I spent WAY more time here at Hot Air than at Drudge, but I definitely dip over to Drudge about half a dozen times a day on an average day, and it remains one of the most important sites on the internet.
RightWinged on March 19, 2007 at 8:15 PM
I think overall you’re right, RW, but Drudge has just let himself get rolled once too often. The latest round of “exit polls” were just too much. I visit Drudge for the news aggregation, not the scoops.

Drudge is a web design nightmare. Badly laid out and full of unnecessary links. Its content isn’t much good either.
Its popularity rests on a legend gained from one major exclusive from the days before blogs became popular.
Hot Air & LGF wipe the floor with Drudge.
uptight on March 19, 2007 at 8:53 PM
How can a guy who only links to other news sources talk smack about a blog site that provides editorial content? Not only did Drudge miss the web 2.0 buss, it ran over his feet.
I guess Drudge thinks that Rocketboom and zeFrank are a joke too. What an ass clown.
I love his bit about “we’re all equal”; so we weren’t before? Or are some people just more equal then others?
liquidflorian on March 19, 2007 at 9:04 PM
bj1126, or anyone else, don’t waste yer time writing to MM. This lady knows what she’s got in AP and is/will be the only decider. If you don’t like that, move on. It’s such a blessing that we live in a free country/world (world part to the extent that you can get ‘divorced’ from an internet site, no matter where you’re from).
Not in the way you put it, but still the door is open…
There are few in the blog-world (and to name them invariably makes one miss some) who possess the wit, intelligence, wicked humor, to be envied writing talent, reasoning power, legal insights, capability to string together so much in so few words, insight into so many topics, guru-like sense of pop culture, mise en temps decision-making of what matters/doesn’t, courage to post controversial topics, screen-captioning and fauxtography talents, etc. etc. than AP.
On the West Coast, I’ve been up late, often, and sure thing AP keeps on working and working. No idea when the man sleeps but for HA and us it’s pretty amazing how much we get to learn and play with.
Not least, I appreciate that when HA or AP is wrong, they/he have the courage to admit and move on. The fact that they, the HA team, seem to like/complement each other is another plus.
Last, and most important for me, I’d send money just to read the short captions on all which AP posts. The laughs from his graphics/pictures/captions, and his daring of his readership are worth the HA experience, in and by themselves.
/door shut
P.S. I disagree with much of what some of you wrote against Mr. Drudge. He is and will remain an American icon, like him or not.

I don’t always agree with everyone said on HotAir. But then, if I did, what fun would it be to be here?
There are days when everyone gets on my last nerve. There have been moments where I have taken exception to what Michelle has said. And thank goodness! I’d hate to be just another “ditto-head”.

Ian, not everyone, just a few misguided individuals. Let them get lost.
Entelechy on March 19, 2007 at 9:43 PM
It has been a week or so since we’ve had humping robots. I think everyone is just grumpy.
lorien1973 on March 19, 2007 at 9:46 PM
Less Rosie would be good, but how do we force that pig to go on a diet?

Allahpundit rocks.
Bryan rocks.
Michelle rocks.
Here’s the upside: Drudge is visiting Hotair. He occassionally even links to it. And he evidently talks about it on his radio show. Any ink is good ink.
Finally, is it just me or does Matt Drudge’s radio show lack something? He talks for about 90 seconds, and then goes to commercial break for 4 minutes, that’s his broadcast schedule. Not to mention it airs at an odd time. I rarely tune-in anymore.
realVerse on March 19, 2007 at 9:51 PM
This site has come a long way real fast. MM and crew do an amazing job keeping us posted of the important things–with a twist of humor/commentary. Drudge is boring. Just links to stories. He seldom *says* anything.
I’m guessing he feels threatened.
This site is hot. (Air. lol…)
PoliticallyIncorrectSandy on March 19, 2007 at 9:54 PM
I have long wondered if Drudge gets money from the NYT, WaPo, NewsWeek and Time. His “scoops” of their yet to be released covers and articles seem all too convenient. I am sure that having a pre release cover on Drudge sells a couple of magazines.
So Michelle – Maybe Drudge’s little b_slap is his way of soliciting some payola???
I never thought him to be anything but mainstream and I never took him seriously.
iam7545 on March 19, 2007 at 9:58 PM
I’ll throw in my .02… I got to HotAir thru Drudge back during the Lebanon/Israli war “fauxtography” stories. (Favorite bit is still the video following Zarkawi’s death..that ROCKED!)
I used to check Drudge several dozen times a day. But after reading HA for a few days, I BEGGED Allah to admit me as a commenter (the registration was closed – Bless you Allah), and I’ve not looked back since. Drudge’s site bores me now, and after his tantrum there, I won’t be going back at all.
There is no reason he should be trashing MM and HotAir, aside from pure T jealousy and sour grapes over the loss of readership. As anyone dealing with the internet knows, you adapt or you get left behind…no matter WHO you are.
Thank you Drudge for all that you DID…but catch up, or give up. You’re obsolete now.
Michelle, Allah, Bryan, Ian and all you at HotAir: Thanks for all the news, entertainment, support and open forums! You are the place to be!!!

Wait a minute! I’m the decider. Allah stays!
thedecider on March 19, 2007 at 10:38 PM
this is so funny that it hurts my right wing brother has drudge as his home page and listens all day to rush limbaugh and sean hannity on his radio. however i routinely drop news storys from mm and ha that he knows nothing about. FEELS GOOD.
bootheel on March 19, 2007 at 10:45 PM
HotAir rocks. I have to admit, when I saw you guys pushing this thing live I was alittle skeptical but you have proven yourselves and HA is now one of my first stops for news.
Drudge is a linkfarm and that’s it. Usually I know about his “exclusives” before he posts them thanks to either HA or any number of other great blogs out there.
The folks from “The Command Post” did this the right way. Michelle Catalano and (?) his name escapes me simply locked the site down and declared it Archive when the traffic went to other multi-author blogs. Perhaps Drudge should consider the same thing. Kudos to him for showing the rest of us that we are ALL “journalists” in this day and age but he has overstayed his welcome.
…besides Mrs. Malkin is MUCH easier to watch on video. ;)
Pilgrim on March 19, 2007 at 10:58 PM
I’m too lazy to e-mail Michelle so I’ll just say it here:
Hot Air without Allah would be like the Lakers without Shaq….you’ve still got a winning coach, an all-star and some great young players, but no more dynasty.
Take it strong to the hole, AP.
John on March 19, 2007 at 10:59 PM
Amen John. I was THRILLED to hear AllahPundit was coming back to the blogosphere. He’s fabulous.
Pilgrim on March 19, 2007 at 11:00 PM
lorien nails it.
More. Humping. Robots.
Slublog on March 19, 2007 at 11:02 PM
Allahpundit rocks.
Bryan rocks.
Michelle rocks.
Realverse-
Throw in Ian’s name too. All four of them rock, and they are all different too in terms of analysis and subjects they write about, from the humorous to the serious. That is what makes Hot Air so entertaining and fascinating. Even when I’m at work, I sneak to it every couple of hours or so. I go to it more than Drudge. Drudge is behind the times in terms of video and analysis.
januarius on March 19, 2007 at 11:08 PM
Not the first time he’s heard that, eh Ace?
RightWinged on March 19, 2007 at 11:15 PM
Is realVerse back?
Coyote D. on March 19, 2007 at 11:18 PM
I’ve never been to his site. If I wanted a drudge report I’d watch CBS news.
Hot Air rocks. I listen to alot of talk radio at work but hate commercials and don’t have time to call in. Here I don’t have to sit on hold to comment. I’m a big LGF reader, but comment wise, it’s kind of like a mega-church. I can’t read 500 comments about anything. Here at HA we can get to know each-other a little more. AP is an awesome blogger. He makes this site the success it is. My only criticism (and I’ll never bring it up again), is for a center right blog, Christians have to defend ourselves from an inordinate number of negative posted stories. We can ultimately take it, so go ahead. Just throw in a post about how atheism allowed Europe to be swallowed up by Islam once in a while.
Buck Turgidson on March 19, 2007 at 11:22 PM
Only there it’s called a dredge report. Something about scum-sucking, something-or-other.
thedecider on March 19, 2007 at 11:29 PM
Ian was the one who STARTED this political video phenomena and he didn’t get a “hat tip”???
It was his idea!
Hat tip to Ian!!
A true Conservative and young American Patriot. Salute.
I love Bryan’s posts and hard work at editing the Hot Air videos, also. Thanks!
angryamerican on March 19, 2007 at 11:44 PM
Welcome back, realVerse! Idea… Maybe we should try realVerse’s experiment on Drudge. RealVerse had a no-digg day; perhaps HotAir readers should hold a no-Drudge day?
To all staff at HotAir, and that most definitely includes Allahpundit: great job. Keep up the good work. You’ve grown quite a site already, one that I check several times daily and enjoy immensely. As you continue in your success, I know that you will render Drudge’s lame criticisms even less accurate.
flutejpl on March 19, 2007 at 11:50 PM
ROTF
Michelle owes me a new keyboard.
However, that comment alone was worth any damage done to my keyboard.
One thing with Drudge his site is always painfull to read.
F15Mech on March 19, 2007 at 11:54 PM
Roger that!
Buck Turgidson on March 19, 2007 at 11:55 PM
This was fun, can we this it again?
Kini on March 19, 2007 at 11:56 PM
Anyone is who is talking about dropping AP is out of their gourd. AP is one of the primary reasons I read this blog. He has a very catchy style of writing and is pretty down-to-earth in his opinions, even where I disagree with him.
tommy1 on March 20, 2007 at 12:00 AM
I still go to Drudge daily, but HA and MM are first on my list.
What’s up with the hate for AP?? Yes, he (much like Ian) is addicted to the View (like a crack whore), but he is friends with all the cool, smart, hot chicks (MM, MKH, KP, Bethany, etc.)…can’t beat that.
