“Consider making the Republican Party illegal.”

posted at 10:06 am on March 16, 2007 by Bryan

DUmmie Funnies tracks one academic’s 10-point vision for a post-Bush…and post-Republican…and post-Constitutional…future. Warning: Extreme moonbattery ahead.

More: Hm. Where do these leftwingers get their ideas…? (h/t seejanemom, who says she’ll post about this later)

Wow, that guy actually works in a university and he’s dumb enough to think that you can round up and imprison all of America’s Republicans.

Doesn’t he know that the Republicans own all the guns?

MoxArgon on March 16, 2007 at 10:12 AM

Well, what do you expect him to write? Scholarly articles like “The Gendered Rhetoric of Intellectual Property, from William Wordsworth to Vanna White?”

Wait…he did actually write that.

And presented it at a conference.

I have just got to get my Ph.D.!

Slublog on March 16, 2007 at 10:14 AM

LoL, MoxArgon you hit on a good point.

For all the paranoid fantasies of the Left, they don’t seem to realize that if an armed struggle/uprising does go down, the Republicans have all the guns and soldiers.

Lehosh on March 16, 2007 at 10:17 AM

And all the good looking women.

a4g on March 16, 2007 at 10:20 AM

Why do Democrats reliably insist on speaking and behaving in exactly the way they accuse Republicans of doing?

The cognitive dissonance required to simultaneously write that fascist stupidity just plain boggles the mind. And there is enormous irony in the fact that, in this case, fascism is actually the appropriate and accurate label.

How do liberals really not notice this?

Professor Blather on March 16, 2007 at 10:22 AM

I surfed over to the “Dummie Funnies” link to check out the ten-point plan. Before I read it, I thought, “Surely this is just satire that Bryan has mis-understood.” Kind of like Jonathan Swift’s “modest proposal” to fix the Irish famine by cannibalism.

Nope …. the 10-point plan is not written as satire. This guy is serious.

I’m glad I stopped school after earning my Master’s — articles like this suggest that a special kind of idiocy takes root in the mind during the PhD process.

#10 is total historical revisionism and reversism … is that a real word?

Hey, I have an idea, instead of making illegal the one party that has the balls to fight the religious fundie wackos who wanna kill us all, why don’t we instead make it illegal to oppose the war against those who religious fundie wackos wanna kill us all? What’s that Mr. Professor? You don’t like that idea? Why not? Perhaps because you’re being funded by Saudi Wahabi oil money? Being told what to say by your islamic overlords, dhimmiboy?

Oh, we’re talking academia here, so you can make up words.

They do it all the time.

“Bush has blown up the world.”

That’s exactly the kind of no-nonsense news that the MSM is too afraid to cover! Bush has blown up the world. That’s why I get all my news straight and unfiltered from DU.

As far as impeachment of Bushitler and his cronies, exactly how many people do you plan on impeaching and removing from office? Do you stop after Cheney and let Nancy “You’re Not My Constituents” Pelosi run the show?

saint kansas on March 16, 2007 at 10:28 AM

And in other news … The bulldozer inflicted death of “peace activist” Rachel Corrie will NOT be commemorated with a pancake breakfast party this year.

Tony737 on March 16, 2007 at 10:33 AM

Constitutional ignorance, check.
Resistance mantra (even though Dems control Congress), check.
Ignorant fascism in the name of Justice!, check.
Armed revolution…wait, you don’t have any guns do you? That might be a problem for you guys.

SouthernDem on March 16, 2007 at 10:34 AM

CMU works for the government and gets lots of funding from the government in the area of robotics and computer sciences. CMU still helps run US-CERT, the cyber division arm of the Department of Homeland Security. These guys get millions of our dollars and do almost nothing in return because private corporations and contractors have outpaced any cutting edge science and research that can be derived from CMU.

It is time we cut off funding for these propellor-heads. Let them sit around in a drum circle on their own dime, not ours.

BelchSpeak on March 16, 2007 at 10:34 AM

And another thing, speaking of projection and cognitive dissonance… ever notice how the freedom-loving moonbats’ solution is always “make ____ illegal,” “ban _____,” ad nauseam?

Just who are the cops in this future Bizarro world who are going to enforce all these new laws?

saint kansas on March 16, 2007 at 10:35 AM

I find it interesting that this “professor” considers using tactics that the Soviets and Nazis used to quell opposition. Yet the Left call Republicans Nazis incessantly!
What’s wrong with this picture??

Here comes the sarcasm….

Oh wait, Uncle Joe was a friend. I forgot. And the Holocaust never happened, right?

Sorry, couldn’t help it! These people make me crazy!

JohnnyD on March 16, 2007 at 10:35 AM

Heh, I like DUmmieFUnnies. It doesn’t get as much attention as it should.

It is a very good catch on his part, and as he says his intro, this is commonplace discussion for these nutbars, though its a bit more surprising coming from a professor, you’d think they’d have the ability to show some discretion…then I remember Ward Churchill.

Bad Candy on March 16, 2007 at 10:36 AM

The bulldozer inflicted death of “peace activist” Rachel Corrie will NOT be commemorated with a pancake breakfast party this year.

C’mon now. That is just tasteless and uncalled for.

P.S. Who else missed that Bush blew up the world?

saint kansas on March 16, 2007 at 10:39 AM

This guy’s a joke…but unfortunately not all that unusual for the left.

Conservatives really have to grow a pair, stop talking about standing up to moonbats like this, and actually start doing something to defeat the left in this country.

Has anyone else noticed this on the “Call to Action” page” of his site?

Mail or bring your copies of ’1984′ to the Oakland Tribune — they will send them to Congress!! 23 Dec 2005 “We think it’s time for Congress to heed the warning of George Orwell. To that end, we’re asking for your help: Mail us or drop off your tattered copies of ’1984.’ When we get 537 of them, we’ll send them to every member of the House of Representatives and Senate and to President [sic] Bush and Vice President [sic] Dick Cheney. Feel free to inscribe the book with a note, reminding these fine people that we Americans take the threat to our liberties seriously… Bring or mail your books to the Oakland Tribune, 401 13th St., Oakland CA 94612. Doors are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.”

I’ve got to wonder what he means by “they will send them to Congress.” Is the Oakland Tribune actually participating in this, rather than simply reporting it?

Gregor on March 16, 2007 at 11:26 AM

Robots and crazed leftists.

Has anybody heard of this book?

He was profiled on the Glenn and Helen show.

I say it almost daily…This is the democratic party. For all of you trolls out there, this is who speaks for you. This is why we don’t take you serious. By you not denouncing this speach, you are condoning it…you are them, they are you.
This is the democratic voice.

right2bright on March 16, 2007 at 11:38 AM

They take a threat to thier liberites seriously? What a crock of cr@p. Aren’t they the ones always wanting to infringe upon my right to keep and bear arms? Personally I’m not worried, the medical world still hasn’t figured out a way to transplant a spine.

SPIFF1669 on March 16, 2007 at 11:39 AM

Um, hey, Professor Brainiac, et al… Have you actually read 1984? Or did you buy a pre-tattered copy from the head shop?

I can’t even begin the recount the times I’ve counted on Google Cache to retrieve lefty rants from Orwell’s “memory hole.” (Hey, guys, I found Amanda Marcotte down here!)

Clearly the message of 1984 was that more strongarm government control (e.g., banning a political party) was the answer.

Don’t forget Cuba and China. Both are workers’ paradise, as long as you don’t mind spending 10 years in prison for blogging.

Bryan on March 16, 2007 at 12:25 PM

I loved the Tribune’s,

“History is malleable.”

They even had the guts to place it following:

“Remember, too, that we invaded Iraq primarily because we were told Saddam Hussein was an immediate threat with his weapons of mass destruction. Now the Bush administration acknowledges that wasn’t so, but insists there were (are?) other reasons to invade.”

Sounds like orange wigs and bulbous red noses are required attire at the Oakland Tribune.

Dusty on March 16, 2007 at 12:25 PM

A finer example of declining American standards in reading comprehension simply cannot be found.

Blacklake on March 16, 2007 at 12:26 PM

This is unbelievable. I just received a call back from Josh Richman of the Oakland Tribune – Politics & Criminal Justice.

Mr. Richman completely admitted that the newspaper editorial board organized, publicized, and activity participated in this protest of the sitting President of the United States.

He did inform me that this protest is already completed and started over a year ago, but the most interesting information he gave me was that there were employees of the newspaper actually sitting in an office, stuffing these books into envelopes, addressing them to members of Congress, and then mailing them. This is absurd!

I asked Mr. Richman if the Oakland Tribune had given up it’s newspaper status and now become a political action committee.

For all of you who have blogs, I am really hoping to see this story put out there nationally. There’s no way this story should be kept secret, even if it’s already completed.

I’ve was told that I would also be getting a call from the Editor soon, as they seem to be concerned with where this might lead.

Gregor on March 16, 2007 at 12:50 PM

Bryan and Naliaka, Don’t forget the great state of Maryland. Ooh baby, one party rule rocks! NOT! We The voters of MD voted out a Rebuplican governor with 63% approval for a democrat! I live in a village of idiots (except for MM and you BP)! I’d get out if I didn’t have family obligations.

JohnnyD on March 16, 2007 at 12:52 PM

10. Start a party that opposes the Democratic Party from the left of the Democratic Party and makes the Republican Party a detestable relic of the past akin to the slave-holding Southern rebels.

I’ve said this a thousand times since the disvowing of Ann Coulter.

I hope all you lead by example types can see what is happening here. The further the left goes, the more the center shifts left and the more conservatism appears to be extremism.

It’s time to unleash Ann to counter the lefts desire to link normal thinking adults to the extreme belief of conservatism. The wars is on ya’ll! Give up and they will still be at war with us.

csdeven on March 16, 2007 at 1:02 PM

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

And their radicals (which are now the manipulators of the party) are totally against globalization – what happened btw. 1963 and now?

Entelechy on March 16, 2007 at 1:10 PM

LoL, MoxArgon you hit on a good point.

Lehosh on March 16, 2007 at 10:17 AM

NO! He got it exactly WRONG! Their goal is not to enact these policies but to expand the scope of what left wing is and by default redefine what the right is. That extreme left position makes regular loons look sane and moderate, and it makes moderate dems look right wing.

Where does that leave conservatism? Leading by example conservatism. That example being redefined by the left as extremism.

Hmmmmm?

We sit around here complaining about how stupid these liberals are and that makes us feel superior, but the fact remaines the idea is out there and that shifts perspective. We win the moral battle but lose the perception war. Independents, or in an other word, those without a strong committement to some core values, vote perception. They’ll swing from right to left based on what appears to be moderate values.

Just like Rush did in the 80′s, we need Ann et al to extend the scope of the right further than the “lead by example” semi-pseudo conservatives want it to be.
