He uses the first-person plural word “we” (as in “we know the cause”) but I think he was speaking in the third person. As if to say “we” meaning the scientists, know the cause. He seems to qualify it when he says “The scientists are just as sure as they can be”.

Then he says, “Meantime rising tempatures are melting the icecaps”. As if to say “never the less the icecaps are melting”.

“Those who would doubt global (sic?)warning, need to read up” If you throw out the first quote, then this third quote is just a statement of fact that tempatures are increasing. Which they are. The only thing in doubt is the reason why and it’s context in the long term global temps.

Speaking in the third person is something he does a lot and I’d like to hear his explanation before I start slamming him. I’m not a democrate, so it’s incumbant on me to be rational and not emotional.

In the introduction, Chip states that global warming is a fact. (I know that’s not his name, but that’s how I have always referred to him.)

Before I heard this report, when he was on I would change the channel unless the topic was very interesting to me. IMO he’s an idiot.

This guy (not Shep, though he is to, but the guy he’s interviewing) is a freeking moron. These offsets are not offsets but polution credits. This whole thing was a loophole developed, in the 80s I think, to get around EPA regs. If I have a company and you have a company, both of us pollute, the one that doesn’t hit their limit gets to sell the remainder of what they can polute to the other so they can go over their limit; it offsets NOTHING.

Just like fishing where limits are set because of over-fishing. Two guys go fishing and there is a limit on 6 fish each. One guy gets 6 in the first hour but the other only has 3.

I’m not saying I would have reacted differently to the situation, I’m just saying that if he couldn’t handle it, he probably should have figured it out before he went on television.

On a side note, the Kyoto rally I went to on Sunday was populated largely by teenagers, and those not much older. It seemed to me that the ones I spoke with were parroting something that they heard at school, on the internet, or maybe in a first year university course. Some of them, I am convinced, did not have the critical thinking skills to think through an issue.

Others, though – well, they were hardcore. I saw one chick doing yoga/ninja exercises in the middle of it all. I didn’t take her picture, because I was afraid.

Of course they will… because this helps Al Gore. They will not question if it is actually happening…. they will only question the severity, which adds to the drumbeat that it is indeed happening…. which is of course a lie.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. The article is out there now. Softest “hit piece” I’ve ever seen. Only brought up the controversy to give reason to post Gore statements. Some arguments are given, but near the end after everyone has quit reading. Very weak/incomplete arguments.

Maybe scientists who are able to think economically and politically are stricken by the thought that economies crippled by taxes and regulations ostensibly intended to reduce global warming will be ruinous to the funding for their research. It’s time to rein in the latest craze in popular religion.

From global warming to second hand smoke to transfat diets, true science is being corrupted to push agendas.

I know. It’s a huge conspiracy. Did anyone check to see if the people pushing these pontificated policies have a stake in whether people believe humans cause global warming or second hand smoke causes lung cancer?
