As for the schedule being “old media” there is nothing wrong with regularity.

As for “post as opportunities arise,” that’s what Allah does on this site and Michelle does on her personal blog. You just won’t get a well crafted video on every single thing; which of course you wouldn’t get if she did it whenever.

The truth is that funny blog posts don’t always translate to good video content. Good videos require snappy writing, compelling characters, sensible editing and producers/actors that push for the best performance in every frame of the video.

That’s why HotAir’s past few Vent videos are so good.

If you don’t like it why not produce a quality video yourself and submit it to Hotair –that’s how new media works. The “old media” slur works both ways — in “old media” the mindless viewers just watch, but in “new media” the audience gets involved and uploads video reports from the field.

Michelle Malkin is one woman. She can only do so much in a day. Each Vent is scripted, shot, cropped, and posted with professionalism unseen anywhere else on the Web. Cogdon’s online video only became popular because she was an East Coast liberal white girl that other East Coast liberal whites in the Old Media want to promote… there is NO comparison between the production values of her amateurish show(s) versus anything produced by HotAir Network, LLC.

I’m shocked more people aren’t impressed that Michelle Malkin maintains a daily blog, writes syndicated newspaper columns, attends speaking engagements, appears on multiple TV/radio shows, researches and writes weighty non-fiction tomes, produces at least three online video segments per week, and still has a family life for her two very young children.

Apparently if Michelle was a skinny white East Coast liberal grrrl, she’d be lauded daily in every media outlet in the western world rather than derided for having her videos delivered on a so-called “old media” schedule.

While we appreciate your efforts, it takes time for us to consume content online, and we value our time as much as you yours. There is a wide variety of “free” content out there. I presume you’re doing everything you can to monetize traffic, and that you value your readership.

A diluted brand will aggregate less viewers. I find I’m coming to Michelle’s video content more often when she breaks into the league tables of Memeorandum, rather than navigating HotAir. Remarkable, but that’s Web 2.0. I just have to work to find it more here than elsewhere. That’s not sustainable in new media.

And while the other hosts also have major efforts going on off Hot Air? If you want a fresh show from each one each day, I’m afraid that you just don’t have a realistic understanding of what it takes to produce these shows. We don’t have Soros money to throw around and hire a crew of editors here. There’s just little ol’ me.

I’d like to be able to click on a link unambiguously the latest posting by Michelle. If she posts one day a week, whatever, no problem.

I would suggest she not stick to a fixed schedule, but rather post as opportunities arise, in keeping with the immediacy of new media and the uncertain timetable of political news. Text and video bloggers can distinguish their content from old media style product by striking when the iron is hot, and I see HotAir moving away from that toward older models.

See if you can program the gals for the View Vent every few weeks.

Well stated Bryan. As the producer of a small-time vlog that has worked directly with Hotair, I can tell you that Bryan literally works 18 hr. days to bring Hotair viewers FIVE episodes per week. I don’t blame the Hotair team for supplementing with guest hosts and topics. If you don’t like it why not produce a quality video yourself and submit it to Hotair –that’s how new media works. The “old media” slur works both ways — in “old media” the mindless viewers just watch, but in “new media” the audience gets involved and uploads video reports from the field.
