CAIR says flying imams set to sue U.S. Airways for discrimination

I wrote about this three months ago, not believing CAIR could be so foolish as to try to politicize airline security where the facts appear to cut against them. If, as has been suggested, their goal is getting that anti-profiling bill passed, why wake the public up with a high-profile stunt that’ll probably backfire?

Six Islamic leaders who were removed from a U.S. Airways flight in November said they will sue the airline for discrimination.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations announced the planned lawsuit on Monday and said it would provide details on Tuesday. It declined to say which court the group would sue in, or provide the name of the attorney handling the case…

The men said they had done nothing that should have been suspicious. [Que? -- ed.] The announcement of the planned lawsuit said “their removal from the flight was based on racism and religious intolerance.”…

U.S. Airways released a statement saying it hadn’t seen the lawsuit, but that it’s [sic] initial position has not changed: that its employees “acted appropriately, and we continue to back the actions of our crew and ground employees in this case.”

Righty blogs and talk radio are going to have a field day with this. There’s a lot of good publicity for U.S. Airways to be had here if they stick to their guns; I hope they bear it in mind if and when they receive a settlement offer.

I flew with them after they held firm with these clowns. If they fold up I won’t again. I sent them a letter stating just that .

Us AIR will be exactly that if they give in…..flying only AIR across the world!!!

Mellen on March 12, 2007 at 8:12 PM

OH MY! What a surprise.

Wade on March 12, 2007 at 8:22 PM

I emailed them when this first came up and received a nice note back. I hope that they stick to their guns as well.

Courtesy should make a reprise and political correctness needs fade away.

You have played The Victim Card. Do not pass go. Do not collect a shred of dignity.

US Air doesn’t service my area (we are still using the stage coach, but that is another story), but I would go out of my way to support them at this point.

I’m flying to Venice in September for a visit with friends and to see some of the country side.

My airline is US Airways. Can you guess why?

What a fabulous mistake by CAIR, whose strategy has been to use the deep pockets of their Saudi backers to wage war by other means by other means, using the threat of expensive lawsuits to intimidate critics of Islam. Undoubtedly, CAIR is hoping that the airline will cave, like most spineless businesses do. However, if the airline holds firm, it may be CAIR that caves for fear of laying all the facts on the table.

Bring it on, I say. Let’s lose the political correctness, engage the enemy, and defeat them.

I and my family have been flying US Airways exclusively since the incident, and let them know why in a letter. I will also write them another one saying I will stop flying them if they settle with these bozos.

Watch them drop the suit for little to nothing as their scare tactic doesn’t work and they realize their shenanigans will finally get mainstream media attention when its discussed in an open courtroom.

Excellent post!

I hope there is a showdown in court. CAIR (Council on AntiAmerican Islamic Relations) and the Flying Clowns need to get slapped down.

May Ramsey do as good for this client as he did for his last one, Saddam Hussein (i.e. none whatsoever).

We are at war.

We are at war with people who do not wear uniforms, but civilian clothes.

We are at war with people who do not wear uniforms, but civilian clothes, and target civilians.

We are at war with people who do not wear uniforms, but civilian clothes, and target civilians, and believe that the more “infidels” they kill, the closer to Allah they will get.

But you can not question a Muslim acting in a manner that killed 3000 Americans a few years ago in one day in September.

But walk on to a plane and say…… “Hi, Jack!”, and see what happens…….

I say, bring it on! IDIOTS!

PinkyBigglesworth on March 12, 2007 at 10:56 PM

I’m thinking of sending in some money to US Airways for their defense fund. For sure I feel comfortable flying with them

I remember before 9-11 there was a group of young Muslim men complaining that they were being profiled at the airport, and they wanted that profiling stopped. After 9-11 that campaign was quickly halted since it was so ludicrous.

Now, a few years later, it appears CAIR is back in the business of trying to make airline security unsafe for Americans by paralyzing prudent airline safety procedures through legal action and intimidation. It is becoming very clear CAIR is just the legal arm of Jihad against the West.

If USAir has the balls to fight this charge, and even to countersue, I will book my flights on them for the remainder of the year.

Don’t these guys know that U.S. Airways will be doing a little fact finding on them? This is gonna be fun to watch.

MirCat on March 13, 2007 at 12:37 AM

I’m thinking CAIR will lose. I don’t have time to look for it, and I’m not 100% sure but I think the airlines have statutory support for being able to deny services to anyone if there is a safety concern.

Maxx on March 13, 2007 at 12:53 AM

I hope USAir countersues and takes ‘em out to the woodshed for a good old fashion butt whuppin’. Then USAir will be me favorite airline … besides the one I work for, of course :-)

“based on racism” … and when you guys rule the land, what do you call your treatment of dhimmis?

Tony737 on March 13, 2007 at 2:17 AM

Agreed – here’s hoping USAIR has the stones to play hardball with these idiots. And nothing doing about “settling out of court” – they picked a fight, and now it’s time for the airline’s attorneys shove the bat right up their *****.

SpartRan on March 13, 2007 at 2:41 AM

That should read: “…to shove…

SpartRan on March 13, 2007 at 2:42 AM

Wow, this is awesome! This goes to show you that even though the enemy is ruthless, intolerant, and barbaric; they still lack clear rational, critical thinking strategies in relation to their much desired take-over of the West. I’m with the rest of you, bring it on! Even though I’ve previously avoided U.S. AIR for other personal consumer reasons, I will definitely bring my business back if they stand up to this “multi-culturalism” bullying that we’ve (the “West”) desperately needed to take a stand against for way too long now. Thank you CAIR. You’re your own worst enemy. Yes!

Roark on March 13, 2007 at 12:14 PM

Is this civil suit or a federal suit? If it’s federal, it’s an attempt to get manipulate policy by judicial activism. Hopefully, they’ll get smart conservative judges all the way up the line.

If’s it’s civil, it’s a way to scare off airlines from making tough assesments on security threats.

csdeven on March 13, 2007 at 12:36 PM

This is all part of the master plan to soften us up. Liberals will no doubt wither immediately.

On one website I saw a mock poster suggesting that, since they were being boycotted, US Air was the safest airline to fly!

drjohn on March 13, 2007 at 1:53 PM

why wake the public up with a high-profile stunt that’ll probably backfire?

Same reason Assad had Gemayel shot, the jihadists lack subtlety.

drjohn: link please!
