You lost me at “professors”.
Hence, from Robert Heinlein’s Notebooks of Lazarus Long:

Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.
JG2K6 on March 11, 2007 at 3:34 PM
What a complete joke. Carter beat out Bush the Elder. They might as well have just picked Carter for sheer comedic value.
aengus on March 11, 2007 at 3:39 PM
HAHA!
Actually, before I clicked, I half expected to see Carter’s face there…but then, it’s the past 25 years…
So that leaves Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Bush Jr., who’s still in office with time to spare…
How can anyone with a brain tell how “great” a president is until the full ramifications of the individuals presidency are felt in history?
JetBoy on March 11, 2007 at 3:41 PM
Was that picture of Bill Clinton before or after he ejaculated on an intern?
Keep dreaming……. just because you say it, it doesn’t make it real. This reminds me of the Oscars. Kinda makes me want have a huge bowel movement…
PinkyBigglesworth on March 11, 2007 at 3:48 PM
There’s Reagan, and there’s everyone else.
Not even close.
JammieWearingFool on March 11, 2007 at 3:49 PM
Your sure this is red meat AP? Looked like BC was at it again with those lib’s. Such a crock, and they are teaching our future. No wonder it is getting hard to see through the BS.

New York Stock Echange Announcement: Cigar stocks are all on the rise. Monday’s openings very promising.
Fidel Castro, upon reading the announcement, was observed breathing a little faster. Then, he slumped back into his restful position…”Reagan, that sob, he could have invaded Cuba and made a martyr out of me, and he chose not to because he was focused on the cow who’s tit I was feeding on”…
Entelechy on March 11, 2007 at 3:55 PM
New York Stock Exchange, of course – blech, I get so excited about these ‘red meat’ topics that I fail to read first…no one’s fault but mine…
Entelechy on March 11, 2007 at 3:56 PM
So I guess Clinton’s legacy, of ignoring the terrorists and allowing them to grow a huge network that will take us years to overcome…
Mazztek on March 11, 2007 at 4:01 PM
The best lier – Bill Clinton
The best idiot – Jimma Carter
The best in baked beans – Bush
Academia at it’s best!
Nothing like rewriting history to suit your needs.
Kini on March 11, 2007 at 4:02 PM
History is what happened, and not what historians wish that would have happened…
Entelechy on March 11, 2007 at 4:10 PM
Ouch!
Oh well, just another reason for not wasting any more time or money on Europe.
Zorro on March 11, 2007 at 4:12 PM
Alvernia College? What do they know anyway…
Zorro on March 11, 2007 at 4:16 PM
There are 2 camps here. The first camp measures the quality of the president by his impact on improving the American cause. The second camp measures the quality of the president by his impact on destroying the American cause.
Hard to get a consensus on these. But who is kidding whom? Clinton and Carter judged other than disastrous? I don’t care if the guy cures cancer, just the fact that he has BJ’s in the oval office, cheating on his wife while abusing his power over an intern, while simultaneously discussing war plans on the phone, and later committing purjury and selling out his constitutional pardon privelege for money…wouldn’t that eliminated the word “good” from a description of any such president?
And Carter was a textbook failure in every possible way!
C’MON! GET REAL HERE!
stonemeister on March 11, 2007 at 4:16 PM
Entelechy, you hit closer than you thought with the NYSE analogy.
The reference to a “Presidential Performance Study” in a PR release sounds so much like the pump and dump stock touts I get in my spam email. This isn’t a “news story,” *IT IS A NEW RELEASE* from some two-bit college and professors that NOBODY has ever heard of before.
The only question for me is how quickly these two lying leftist academicians can be linked to the Clintons.
georgej on March 11, 2007 at 4:24 PM
So I guess asleep at the switch as far as our nations security had no bearing on these folks.
flyboy777 on March 11, 2007 at 4:31 PM
This has all the credibility of the Oscars or the Grammys–just liberals rewarding other liberals for being liberal, regardless of the merits. No surprises there, considering the overwhelming leftism of most college history departments. Naturally those same professors would hold a grudge against Ronald Reagan for winning the Cold War, since they were rooting for the other side.
ReubenJCogburn on March 11, 2007 at 4:44 PM
These professors are obvously underemployed. They should be given a promotion and a raise so they can do even better work.
Dusty on March 11, 2007 at 5:00 PM
The history professors who rate Bill Clintoon as the best President in the past 25 years show themselves to be nitwit left wing partisans, NOT historians. Their rating is ludicrous. In the past 25 years, there were four Presidents: Ronald Reagan is the best; George W. Bush (No. 43) is second; Goerge Bush the Elder (No. 41) is third; and Bill Clinton is a distant fourth — clearly the worst.
Phil Byler on March 11, 2007 at 5:02 PM
Don’t forget to give them safety helmets, too.
And new crayons.
Dusty on March 11, 2007 at 5:02 PM
Nothing went wrong when Alexander Haig ran things.
infidel on March 11, 2007 at 5:56 PM
I’m confused, is the “red meat” image suppose to mean good news or bad news?
Maxx on March 11, 2007 at 6:10 PM
There you neocons go twisting facts again! It was on a dress not an intern! Oh, and it wasn’t him, there was no DNA testing done, and umm even if there were you know they would have tampered with the results.

I liked the first picture better. How about if we tell everyone that “raw meat” was the named the best president of the past twenty five years by history professors?
CyberCipher on March 11, 2007 at 8:24 PM
Would English Professors have voted differently, since they know what the meaning of the word “is” is?
Why are they asking History professors? How about economics or -gosh, this is crazy- political science professors?
I only hope they made them answer in essay format.
TexasDan on March 11, 2007 at 8:37 PM
There you have it, several historians list Reagan as great and none rate Clinton as such, but Clinton is ranked higher as Reagan is “still a polarizing figure” and a few historians listed him as below average most likely due to political opinion and not historical relevance. Can you say bias?
The most important result of this poll: Several historians say that Reagan was one of the Greats! All of the historians say that Clinton was just average! Ha, take that liberals!
RedinBlueCounty on March 11, 2007 at 8:39 PM
Unbelievable. The leftists elite concept of government really is more of a religion than a political system.
B Moe on March 11, 2007 at 8:45 PM
Like I said in an adjacent thread, it is the principle of
“all fluff, no stuff” that is at work here. You are absolutely correct. It is a religion that we talking about here — and it is astonishing to me that so many people can make such a lucrative living by simply spouting rhetoric, all the while accomplishing absolutely nothing of lasting consequence.
CyberCipher on March 11, 2007 at 9:05 PM
Are you kidding? These are professors we’re talking about here, so all they could answer were multiple-choice questions.
RedinBlueCounty on March 11, 2007 at 9:16 PM
They named the best President for whom? The good is always good for someone.
Kralizec on March 11, 2007 at 10:02 PM
OK, I’ll bite (full sacasam ON)………
With the Clinton War Room in full OPS mode, if it wasn’t his DNA, why is she still alive? Why was a vote in the Senate even approved (meaning allowed to take place)? Why does Bill Maher still want to be a receiver of semen?
And during this time, what was our “friends” in the Middle East doing???????
PinkyBigglesworth on March 12, 2007 at 3:12 AM
Clinton was a lousy president, but a great con artist!

William2006 on March 12, 2007 at 3:50 AM
Move along please…
JackM on March 12, 2007 at 6:17 AM
I’m half surprised they didn’t name Al Gore, aka, the *REAL* President of the US.
Kai on March 12, 2007 at 10:43 AM
In other words, talk a good game and they’ll love you!
Not surprised. I haven’t seen Family Guy in a while, so I turned it on last night, and there was some contrived plot about Lois cheating on Peter with Bill Clinton. She says something like, how could I resist the man who reformed welfare.
Clinton has been taking credit for welfare reform and the balanced budget, but Republicans were in control then. Didn’t Newt shutdown gov’t so Clinton would sign welfare reform?
Also, remember that eccentric professor posing a question to Michelle when she spoke at her alma mater? It wasn’t a question; he praised the man for giving us an unemployment rate of 4.8%, (currently it’s 4.5%) and asked Michelle what she thought. She gave one of the best answers, by saying, hey, look at the economic reports, the economy is doing well. As soon as she said that, the entire place erupted in applause.
Meanwhile I am LMAO!!!!
What a bunch of suck-ups!
budorob on March 12, 2007 at 12:03 PM
How many of those East German professors were in the pay of Stasi? That is the only way that relatively high rankings could result for JC Himself and The Fibber.
