Dave from Garfield Ridge visited the BSG set last November/December, and has a great post about the experience here.
The word “magical” is used.
Yeah, I’m jealous.

‘Bout time we’ve had a BSG thread ’round here. The episodes have been pretty good lately. What are the chances of Thrace being a Cylon?
JasonG on March 9, 2007 at 9:42 AM
Yeah, sorry about that. I’ve just been too busy to watch the show lately.
Bryan on March 9, 2007 at 9:45 AM
I thought this might be another DEEP SPACE NINE joke.
But no, that would be tacky.
seejanemom on March 9, 2007 at 9:47 AM
Grace Park….

I’m just messing around, man. No need to apologize.
I’ve been on a Dualla kick myself lately. Her in those sweat pants… Mmmm, sweat pants.
JasonG on March 9, 2007 at 9:53 AM
Yeah, I’m jealous, too.
I’m just pissed it’s going to be January before season 4 starts. January!
Nethicus on March 9, 2007 at 9:55 AM
I for one was pissed that Starbuck was apparently offed. She was one of the strongest characters on the show. However there is hope, and a fair amount of spoilery goodness.
Unfortunately, we’re going to have several episodes of Baltar’s trial. Oh, yippee. Get the Viper Drivers out there to blow shit up!
Darksean on March 9, 2007 at 9:59 AM
Hopefully Painkiller Jane will be worth watching. If not, we have our own Jane to keep up with.
E L Frederick (Sniper One) on March 9, 2007 at 10:00 AM
Too busy? Doin’ WHAT? Goin’ to IRAQ or somethin’? :-)
Tony737 on March 9, 2007 at 10:01 AM
I guess I don’t mind if Hot Air becomes Ain’t It Cool News, ’cause then I’d double my productivity by having to visit only one site instead of two.
Don’t revoke my geek credentials, but I haven’t seen BSG since they found Earth and started riding around on those flying motorcyles. I hear it’s gotten better, though.
Does anyone want to start a BSG vs. Doctor Who fight?
saint kansas on March 9, 2007 at 10:02 AM
Remember the episode in S1 when they removed her ovaries in the Cylon breeding facility?
Niko on March 9, 2007 at 10:07 AM
Any of you watch the original Battlestar Galactica?
Was there an episode where Starbuck disappeared from a Viper cockpit, only to reappear mysteriously later with the Lord of Kobol.
Starbuck isn’t dead and she definately is not a Cylon.
Or else!
JayHaw Phrenzie on March 9, 2007 at 10:08 AM
Yeah, I’m leaning toward the Lords of Kobol schtick myself.
For such a build-up her death seemed pretty pointless.
Up til now BSG has gotten really shy about killing major characters. That’s one thing B5 never shied away from.

I followed the link to the BSG thread. The left sidebar of the website features what looks like a web add for seejanemom’s blog, but it doesn’t actually link to anything. It does feature a picture of an amazingly beautiful (if somewhat intimidating) woman holding a rifle. Similar to Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2, but I don’t think it’s actually Linda Hamilton.
So, if that’s really you “seejanemom,” kudos for your amazing hotness. If it’s not you, then kudos for your excellent taste in choosing models and props.
It’s not even close to the same show. It’s more like a re-imagining of the whole premise. The Vipers and the exterior of the Galactica look the same as the first BSG, but that’s about it. I think the new show is better than the first BSG in the same way that Hamlet is superior to Sponge Bob Square Pants, but that’s a different thread entirely….
Anton on March 9, 2007 at 10:36 AM
No, they told her they removed her ovaries. They also told her that the kid was hers. Leoben also knows a lot about her past. Could it be that he just knows the program they used before they let her go?
I doubt that she is a Cylon, she and Lee have a past together but, I can see how it might go in that direction.
JasonG on March 9, 2007 at 11:01 AM
that show is like a turd smeared on burnt toast.
jummy on March 9, 2007 at 11:07 AM
And Hot Dog is the Admiral’s real life son, too.
Mazztek on March 9, 2007 at 11:17 AM
Speculation and spoilers abound as to Starbuck and what lies ahead. I’m not sure if this is a venue to spill all of that, but needless to say I’ve seen a lot of it.
Darksean on March 9, 2007 at 11:31 AM
Starbuck can’t really be dead.
Killing Starbuck is kind of like killing Tonto in the old Lone Ranger shows. Or killing Dr. Watson in the Sherlock Holmes stories. Or killing of Starsky with respect to Hutch.
I think Starbuck is on a secret mission, or captured by the Cylons.
A third possibility is this may have to do with the recurring under-theme regarding Starbuck having some greater role in the survival of the human race. Something to do with something learned as a child, possibly with regard to being a decendant of some special person or group of people back in Caprican history.

I think everyone is going to wet their pants when they find out who the “Final Five” are and I ain’t tellin’.

I remember one where Starbuck and Lee met some mysterious superior beings that gave them clues to help find earth, and helped them avoid some kind of Cylon trap. Or something like that. The one where the woke up all dressed up in white, and then later they woke up back in their viper cockpits.
Lawrence on March 9, 2007 at 11:53 AM
I didn’t realize this show was still on…….
I was going to say something sarcastic (imagine that!), but I since it’s Friday, I will leave you all in peace….
“By your command………”
PinkyBigglesworth on March 9, 2007 at 11:59 AM
She is not dead. Did you not see her hand on the eject handle before she told Lee she was not afraid? And the cylon ship flying near her viper right before the explosion. If we assume that the Cylon ship was really there (and Lee saw it) and take into account the cloud coverage, Its easy to assume that the cylons have her. Now the question is why?
The thing that has anoyed me about the second half of this season has been the total dearth of cylons. To include the almos complete abcense of Caprica. I fully expected the cylons to follow an Islam similie where There is only one G_d and Baltar is his prophet. I could have easily seen that been followed after Baltars torture scene “The passion of Gaius Baltar”.
Sadly, Im not a writter for BSG and they didnt ask me.

Wait. They found earth on BSG? I havent seen the show since it moved to sundays (stupid movie on SciFi’s part).
lorien1973 on March 9, 2007 at 1:04 PM
Has it ever been explained what the references are for:
Adama: Starbuck, What do you hear?
Kara: I hear the rain.
Adama: Grab your gun and bring in the cat.
It has been used twice and it is so cryptically cool.
allie on March 9, 2007 at 1:18 PM
Mmm… Maren Jensen. Oh, and Jane Seymour, too.
Yeah, the new BSG sure ain’t the old BSG.
kevcad on March 9, 2007 at 1:25 PM
I recorded all the episodes to DVD if you need them.
Zorro on March 9, 2007 at 1:31 PM
Go back and watch the original one, listen to the political arguments in it, then you will know why I loved the original and absolutely despise the new one. The original was an answer to the liberal banter about the military and Vietnam.

Lets not forget Laurette Spang and especially Sarah Rush (the ‘launch when ready’ girl from the orginal BSG)

lorien, the “finding earth” part refers to the original campy BSG. They have not yet found earth in the current BSG.

Great show. Recent fan after buying all 2.5 Seasons and watching them all. The show is great. Almost as good as Heroes.
