David “Idiot Liberals” Obey conducts secret sting on House committee leakers

How else is he going to find out who’s leaking, huh? You see a magic wand in his pocket?

If you don’t think busting fatmouthed legislators who abuse their confidentiality privilege is a priority, then you’re SMOKING SOMETHING ILLEGAL:

“Three days ago, I gave several members of our caucus false information on purpose, because I wanted to see who the hell was leaking that information,” Obey told National Journal. “So these people aren’t being invited to the meetings anymore.”

Asked who the suspects were, Obey spokeswoman Kirsten Brost said she had asked Obey but “he told me not to leak that information.”

It’s not hard to guess who one of them is. Follow the WaPo link and behold Jim “War for Israel” Moran’s preemptive excuse-making. And note what he says about Obey lashing out at people, which rings only too wonderfully true this evening. There’s not much doubt that he’s a cranky jackass.

But he’s my kind of cranky jackass.

Why does Obey remind me of Mad Magazine’s “Spy vs. Spy”?

He must have watched The Departed recently.

Bwahaha – good one!

He must have watched The Departed recently.

I grew up there. I know the guy who that movie is based on. I could tell you some stories…

This leaking that makes it harder for Democrats to lose the war as fast as possible, Obey cares about. Leaks of sensitive anti-terror programs to the NYT that make it harder to win the war, not so much.

Kind of says it all.

Selective leaks are par for the course to the Democrats. I have zero respect for the lot of them up there in the Beltway.

I guess no Congressman with a “D” in their title cares about winning in Iraq anymore. As if they ever did.

So, don’t leave us hanging, big ol dog.

AllahP? Bryan? Maybe a special guest blog?

Mazztek on March 9, 2007 at 9:30 PM

Allah, can we now refer to him as “Cranky Jackass” from this day forward?

amerpundit on March 9, 2007 at 9:32 PM

Well, well, well, Jim “War for Israel” Moran needs to go to rehab.

Is this where we first learned of the defecting Iranian?

P.S. Just sayin’

There is really something in the democratic leadership that just screams superior attitudes and self righteous egotism.

Obey isnt worried about threats to the US he is worried about his committee leaking info that he is afraid will be embarrasing to him.

Every single Democratic leader is infected with that “Im too important for this country to lose and my ideas are superior to everyone else’s” Disease.

OBEY: That’s the problem! That’s the problem! The liberal groups are jumping around without knowing what the hell is in the bill!

You know……… I watched that clip, and couldn’t help but think…… They are so interested on “stopping the war” by removing the funds, leading to removing the US presence from Iraq, but have NO CLUE to what would happen later.

Didn’t Obey admit that he was responsible for being involved in cutting off the funds for Viet Nam?

What happened after that?

Is Obey responsible for the millions that were killed?

Will an arrest warrant ever be issued?

Fragging Party! Woot, woot!

I’m really at a loss for why our entire government doesn’t use this tactic. I have to give him credit.

Gregor on March 9, 2007 at 10:58 PM

I agree with Gregor. The conservatives could have been way more disciplined when they were in power, and some still play the “John Roberts” card.

The motives of this strange ‘leader’, however, are terrible.

There is a shoe phone in this story somewhere.

It’s been used in classified documents for decades. The technique is known as a canary trap.

Don’t let em see the Big Board Cranky Jackass!

Interesting he wants to see who is leaking, but clearly shows his own spokesbabe is capable of leaking.

“He must have watched The Departed recently.
I grew up there. I know the guy who that movie is based on.”

While Scorcese and Nicholson were inspired by Whitey Bulger, the Departed is a remake of the 2002 Hong Kong action film, Infernal Affairs.

Amazing, I had that exact thought about another story yesterday. “Missed it by … THAT much.”

Agent 99 couldn’t spell either

Limerick on March 10, 2007 at 8:00 AM

What?! I think you meant Agent 86. Agent 99 could spell. She was WAY smarter than Maxwell Smart — and she was HOT!

“Three days ago, I gave several members of our caucus false information on purpose, because I wanted to see who the hell was leaking that information,” Obey told National Journal.

I wonder if he is going to have twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against them?

You can get any leaks you want, at the DNC resturant.

RedinBlueCounty on March 10, 2007 at 1:14 PM

I confess. I put that piece of paper with the leaked false information under that pile of House Committee meetings garbage.
