There are many who comment here who have sons and daughters who serve in dark and scary places around the world. It doesn't matter if they are patrolling the streets of Tal Afar or manning a sonar set 1000 feet below the surface of the Pacific, they voluntarily risk their lives so others won't have to. Hell, they are all our sons and daughters. As much as we bitch and moan about America she still turns out a great bunch of kids. Cap'n Crunch Sadr better pray the politicians continue to protect him from our children. The playground can be a rough place.

My boy couldn’t take a pitch. Baseball dad just had to get him in little league. When he couldn’t stand at the plate I blamed his momma. That kid is starting his third tour in Iraq soon. When I took him out of little league this redneck dad had no idea just how big his gumballs actually were. God bless em’ all!

I’m glad this is out now. A kid I know in the 82nd (Hoooah! All American!) told me a couple days ago things were getting pretty hairy in Sadr City. They’re doing raids at 2:30 in the AM. All day long it’s “Boom, boom, and automatic small arms fire” (his exact words). THey’ve been shelled a few times too. He’s just a kid and says what he has seen will stick with him the rest of his life.

I told him if he got some time he should stop by here and lurk around and see what real americans who support the troops really say about the war.

I am in awe of his courage and willingness to serve.

Is someone writing this down…… could be an excellent “tragic play” in about a hundred years, when they learn the final lesson of “taking the gloves off” when you enter a “war”, and not an “arrestable offense”……..
