Beatles breakup redux: Hasselbeck set to quit “The View”?

Thanks, allegedly, to Rosie’s relentlessly condescending jerkiness. Behar’s fit on Wednesday’s show got all the buzz but it’s this exchange at the end of the segment that supposedly left Hasselbeck in tears. I don’t doubt it; she sounds a little quavery at certain moments, but recovers in time to preserve some dignity.
FYI, the segment began with Rosie wondering why we never get to see photos of the bodies of victims of jihad on 9/11 the coffins being unloaded at Andrews AFB of U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan Iraq.

Rosie makes me gag. And that’s before she even speaks.
flipflop on March 2, 2007 at 1:44 PM
Gee, who’s stifling other people’s freedom of speech? I’m not at all surprised by Rosie’s tactic of shouting down the other woman. It’s a classic liberal tactic. Feel threatened in the very least? Start screaming at them and really show them who’s boss! That’ll do the trick!
ViperPilot on March 2, 2007 at 1:47 PM
I hope that she doesn’t leave the show, not that I watch it anyway.
Leaving would be giving in to the bullying tactics of that insane windbag.

I don’t usually “hate” anyone, but I think Rosie deserves nothing less. And I don’t like it, but I find myself wishing bad things would happen to her.
RightWinged on March 2, 2007 at 1:50 PM
So Rosie has 15 years on Hasselbeck and this makes her a sage? Please.
The vacuity of Rosie’s viewpoint is laid bare when she explains that she must resort to the “young” put down in order to avoid her “rage” over Hasselbeck’s “ignorance”. Now there’s a punchy argument for you!
The Ritz on March 2, 2007 at 1:51 PM
How rude can one person be? Always having to get the last word. Even when Dennis Miller makes salient points, her punctuator is “It’s Unamerican, but we still like you, Dennis. Up next on the view…”
It’s like watching an uninformed version of the McLaughlin Group.
Matticus Finch on March 2, 2007 at 1:52 PM
By the way, does Rosie ever explain what this “threat” of the Patriot Act has done to her or anyone? Does she give an example of the civil liberties being stomped on? I’m so sick of this piece of garbage and people like her getting uproarious cheers from audiences when they talk this sh**. It’s just disgusting to think of what kind of idiots make up the public of this country.
RightWinged on March 2, 2007 at 1:53 PM
I’m with MIB…Elizabeth ought to do what she can to make sure that Rosie gets back exactly what she’s giving.
In the meantime she ought to do everything she can to demand a little balance on the panel.

Oh my stars! Rosie either has a severe case of BDS or she should be on medication.I would not have sat there and “took it” like Hasselbeck.Conservatism isnt represented on The View at all. There is no polite argument or exchange of ideas on this show. Its all Rosie and Bahar screeching like bi-polar patients off their meds.Sometimes they’re nice, sometimes they’re psychotic.
spazzmomma on March 2, 2007 at 1:55 PM
Hasselbeck can’t argue with Rosie because she’s such an obnoxious loudmouth. There’s literally nothing she can do. Rosie just interrupts and shouts over her (literally, not what people say O’Reilly does all the time). Hasselbeck needs to go to the media and start a war like Trump did. That’s the only way to stick it to Rosie. Then she can quit and join FNC or something… Red Eye, you hirin’?
RightWinged on March 2, 2007 at 1:56 PM
I hope she does leave. That poor woman is abused and spoken down to from four different directions every week. Its a testament to her character that she’s tolerated those vicious old hags for as long as she has. She should go somewhere that both her opinions and her person are respected.
Savage on March 2, 2007 at 1:56 PM
Look in the dictionary under bully, see Rosie’s picture.
Typical lefties approach to rational discussion, outshout your opponent.
But wait this is the View. Anything less would be like watching a Keith Olbermann rant.
Kini on March 2, 2007 at 1:56 PM
15 years and 350 pounds, Elisabeth is probably afraid she’ll get beat up by the pig.. or worse…
If we drop her on warziristan(sp) would that be equivalent to two or three daisy cutters??
Viper1 on March 2, 2007 at 1:59 PM
What I couldn’t stand was Rosie’s last line.
Surrounded by so many like-minded people, why does Rosie have to come up with an excuse for anyone else’s views? Why not just try to understand what other people are saying?
Besides, the age-thing works the other way around. The older you get the more conservative you get. Rosie’s just developmentally challenged.
Esthier on March 2, 2007 at 2:02 PM
So is Barbara John and Rosie Yoko? Someone should be Pete Best maybe….This is too hard for a Friday afternoon.
honora on March 2, 2007 at 2:04 PM
Rightwinged, I think there is something that she can do. It’s not sneaky, it’s not hard. When something like this comes up, Elizabeth just needs to calmly say. “Rosie, I think you’re rude for interrupting me. It really shows the lack of respect that you have for your co-worker when you talk over me and cut me short. I’m tired of you doing it, and I think you owe me an apology. I’m not going to let you walk all over me any more.”
If she says that on live national tv, I guarantee you that this at least gets addressed by Barbara Walters, and gets picked up by cable opinion programs. And I guarantee that Rosie comes out the loser on that.
Matticus Finch on March 2, 2007 at 2:07 PM
I think Elizabeth can parlay her experience on THE VIEW into some kind of show somewhere, just as she used her SURVIVOR appearance to get onto THE VIEW. Controversy = ratings, and Liz just isn’t as mean spirited as Rosie. She’s not a trench fighter, she’s a conciliatory listener. A listener can’t duke it out with a loudmouth – the loudmouth will always be overpowering in such a matchup.
Barbara Walters won’t can Rosie, regardless of how obnoxious she is, because Rosie = ratings. Elizabeth is not what is pulling in the majority of their audience (although she’s probably one of the only reasons conservatives, and especially conservative men, might watch the show).
More power to Liz, but she’s outgunned on THE VIEW, and too nice to fight back effectively.
Mibrilane on March 2, 2007 at 2:08 PM
I, again, need to be reminded why I care about the View.
lorien1973 on March 2, 2007 at 2:08 PM
Ah, that ad hominem definition: by you this is a good thing or a bad thing.
honora on March 2, 2007 at 2:09 PM
So, what Rosie is saying is that the only thing that holds back her rage, rage because she disagrees “abhorrently” with nearly everything Hasselback believes, is her condescension of Elizabeth because she is younger?
Isn’t that just like many on the Left? “I won’t take the time to counter your argument, I won’t even try to engage you intellectually, because you are young and stupid, and I am wise.” What an incredibly arrogant, condescending, and baseless attitude.
nailinmyeye on March 2, 2007 at 2:10 PM
Who watches this stuff. A panel that allows such an ass on it doesn’t deserve anyone’s attention. Hasselbeck should have left the day someone decided the FATMOUTH deserved a chair .. or what, three?

vcferlita on March 2, 2007 at 2:13 PM
Why don’t they let on another conservative?
Esthier on March 2, 2007 at 2:14 PM
I’ve tried to watch the video clips of Rosie on HA, but after a while I just can’t do it anymore. What I don’t understand is this:
If the Islamojihadist win the war they will hunt down Rosie and all of her lesbian and gay friends, parade them in front of the world then hang’em. No “don’t ask, don’t tell”. No “I’ll convert. I’ll change”. Not happening. Rosie has the nerve to say things like the Patriot Act is the greatest threat to our country while our soldiers are out fighting and dying on the battlefield so that Rosie can be open about her lifestyle and continue to live.
In the words of our greatest animated American, “something ain’t right with that boy” – Hank Hill
bubbadog89 on March 2, 2007 at 2:15 PM
Don’t watch the View personally, I’ve got too many irons in the fire, but that’s exactly what Ms. Hasselbeck needs to do. Politely and firmly inform the others that she is no longer going to be their token conservative punching bag. Too be honest, I have a feeling she got the gig because she is as young as she is–they wanted someone who they think could be easily intimidated. It’s time for Elizabeth to stand up and tell them, “NO MORE.”

The View needs balance. Joy Behar has gotten out of control with her moonbat buddy Rosie on the View with her. Poor Elisabeth is talked over and belittled on a daily basis.

Therefore, by Rosie’s own arguement, because I am older than she is, she should immediatly listen to my opinion… as she is too young to understand…
Stuck… on… STUPID!!!!
Oh, and guarentee that Rosie just pissed off a bunch of her young audience… although they will give her a pass on it… She is a bigot, and just prooved it.

Coincidently, these would also be Liz’s last words spoken as an employee of The View
ScottMcC on March 2, 2007 at 2:27 PM
Rosie’s age argument is ridiculous. Guess who has a few years on Rosie? That’s right….President George W. Bush himself! I don’t suppose Rosie thinks the President is smarter, more experienced, and more well-informed than she is simply because he’s older than her, correct?
Rosie doesn’t really believe age makes a person smarter. Rosie believes buying into the liberal way of thinking makes a person smarter. Everyone else, regardless of age, is either misguided (if she likes the person) or an idiot (if she doesn’t like the person).
I guess Debbie Matenopoulos would be Pete Best….she was the first young, pretty blonde to get the boot from the show. This was long before the show got popular. So, I think she works as Mr. Best.

Esthier on March 2, 2007 at 2:28 PM
That is the problem with the conservatives as a whole. The leftists are running amok.
Look at Gore’s shell game, paying himself for using too much energy, and the press does nothing.
Rosie is out of her mind, and she is the pin-up girl for the left.
Behar sounds off with vicious comments, and she is defended by her leftists.
No conservative with a show like the View is so vile.

Please, no. Michelle should not give any credence to people like her. It would be like saying we want to convince Rosie to be a conservative, no thanks. We do not want people of her ilk to align themselves with us. And we just want to sit back and laugh at people like her, poor girl.

Elizabeth said what she needed to say and somehow managed to keep her composure on camera. Good for her. She can do way better than where she is now. If she leaves The View, I’d love to see her as a regular on future showings of The Vent. Let’s see… MM, MKH, EH, and KP for respectfully articulated dissenting points… there’s a recipe for an AWESOME show.
Michelle, don’t do The View if Barbara Walters offers it and all the money in the world to you. Doing so legitimizes Rosie, and The Vent is better anyway. Keith Olbermann just got legitimized by OblermannWatch’s giving up; we don’t need Rosie getting legitimized, too.

Wasn’t Elizabeth there before Her Royal Slopiness? And didn’t Dennis Miller smack her down for the Patriot Act yesterday? Is this her way of attempting to get even with him, to take it out on Elizabeth? She can’t outhink Dennis, or outtalk him, she doesn’t have the brains.
If I were Elizabeth, I would tell her put up or shut up. You, Rosie, PROVE the Patriot Act is “ruining” America. Otherwise, say no more. I would be saying that on a lot crap she says. Support what you are saying with FACTS. She never does.

I find myself having difficulty disagreeing with RightWinged. That beast is simply one of the most repulsive creatures I’ve ever observed. And I mean no offense to either beasts or creatures.
She is vile. Period. Frankly, her loony leftist politics are the least vile thing about her. She disgusts me on a dozen levels even before the hypocritical politics rears it’s hideous head.
I don’t want anything bad to happen to her, I guess – I just wish in the name of all that is holy that I’d stop seeing her face HERE. I’m not clicking on that video. No way.
Couldn’t you at least put a cap on how often she shows up here? Once a week, max, maybe? Is she now – or ever – really that newsworthy?
If nothing else – couldn’t the freeze frame have been a picture of Elizabeth? Rosie’s face is probably causing you traffic and add revenue. Not to mention millions of cases of heartburn and nausea.
————–
As for The View (gag) … have they even considered perhaps actually pretending to be “fair and balanced” and putting 2 conservatives up there? Or even ONE conservative that can really hold her own? (Say, Michelle Malkin, for instance?)
Of if that’s too much … how about a rational liberal – like KP?
I’m just being silly, aren’t I? Go ahead. You can tell me.

Like Rosie, I’m also over 45…And I’d have to seriously consider shooting myself if I ever started talking to people younger than myself as if they didn’t have a brain in their head or an opinion worth expressing. First of all, it’s hard to get a meaningful conversation done this way, but more than that; this “wonder of advanced age” sitting on high attitude was Bullshit to me when I was younger, and I’d be a flaming hypocrite to say anything else now.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t play the experience card in practical and technical matters, of course…(Hey, don’t sit on that acetylene torch, young guy, it’ll hurt like hell), that’s sharing your experience, but the NERVE she shows in this clip is astounding. Argue? Sure! Disagree, fine, you’ve already gone from everybody’s pal Rosie to one of the most disagreeable women ever seen on TV. But to try to show up a fellow professional as naive and unworthy to have her opinions mean something by denigrating her AGE is just plain vile.
Whither, O Queen of Nice? I remember when you were funny…

Mallard T. Drake on March 2, 2007 at 6:33 PM
Rosie IS a bully, she IS arrogant, she is self absorbed and has an over inflated ego, and she once again claimed superiority before bullying Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
Instead of one of her normal disclaimers which Rosie uses before she beats someone up, such as “As a gay women,” or “As a lesbian woman,” or “As a mother,” or “As a lesbian women and a mother,” today Rosie chooses “As a person who is 45 years old, older than you, I know more than you, and when you get to be 45 you will call men and tell me that I am right.”
Rosie, a sure sign of the decline of the culture of the United States of America.
William2006 on March 2, 2007 at 6:34 PM
I haven’t read all the comments, so sorry if this is a repost. I thought it was insightful into Rosie’s character and the relationship between the two in that Rosie could not/would not look at Elizabeth as she was criticizing her. I don’t think there is any love lost between the two.
Hasselbeck should leave with her dignity intact, and soon. Let the moonbats wallow in their own ignorance.

packsoldier on March 2, 2007 at 6:55 PM
Rosie’s argument against Elizabeth’s positions was that the woman is : young, ignorant, makes her ill, etc. etc. Rosie came awful close to calling Elizabeth a dumb blonde in name … but what else does that all add up to?
That’s not a debate, it’s a slap down. Elizabeth is a nice person, but she is outclassed – you don’t go hunting cape buffalo with bird shot. If she wants to make a difference, Elizabeth has to arrived more prepared, and practice at home – homework – the facts to counter the usual DNC talking points, like this week’s Rosie repeated pathetic Leftie meme: Dissent is democracy. No, it’s dissent. Democracy permits civilized dissent. Dissenting just to bloviate is stupid narcissism.
There’s a way to beat this, but if Elizabeth wants to stay on and fight, she needs to do some serious prep, short, effective, tight and bullseyes. She’ll get real snarls in return, but that won’t hurt her, just the person snarling at her.

Forget about Elizabeth’s response for a second. I dont understand how the other 2 on the panel just sit there and let Rosie spew this stuff. It makes them, the whole show, look foolish because they dont have the intellectual capacity to actually talk about the patriot act nor have they done any work to actually research the topic.
It simply is bad for Democracy and I can barely stop myself from flying into a rage if you disagree or even if you agree and just want to discuss it! What exactly is Elizabeth going to learn in 15 years, how to shout people down without actually talking about the subject matter?
