Comedian and soon to be radio talk show host talked some sense and some patriotism into Rosie and the gals. Once again Miller is dead on, especially the part about supporting the Commander in Chief.

The money quote has been emphasized:

DENNIS MILLER: I swear to God Rosie, just research this so the next time we talk, I don’t think that statute [library history clause in Patriot Act] has been used once.

ROSIE O’DONNELL: The Patriot Act?

Miller: No, the looking into people’s library records.

[crosstalk]

Miller: Now, look. When Woodward and Bernstein looked into Howard Hunt’s library records it was thought to be one of the seminal moments of American democracy. It’s thought to be a benchmark moment of what this country’s about. So, listen. If we want to check Ramney al-Kaboom because he took 4 bomb cook books out in a month all of the sudden it’s wrong. We’ve got to stop the acrimony.

Rosie: If you sacrifice liberty for percieved security you don’t deserve either.

Miller: Listen, I’ll agree with you up to a point, but if you’re asking me if I don’t want to check phone calls between here and Saudi Arabia and Iraq just to be free and blown up, I don’t agree with you. I just don’t agree with you.

They only applauded when he said he would support Hillary if she became President. Everything else he said recieved very weak applause, or none at all.

forged rite on March 1, 2007 at 5:53 PM

Yeah, you got that right! The ones that applauded actually had a functioning brain. The rest were suffering from a sudden onset of migraine headaches. Their brains got a charlie horse from trying to incorporate logic for the first time since Nov 7 2006.

So, tell me, why is the supposedly smarter, older, wiser Barbara Walters not chiming in?

She’s lost in a memory. “Ah yes, the good old days, when there was only one point of view. . .Walter would say ‘And that’s the way it was,’ and by Jiminy, that’s the way it was. Now the rednecks have gotten college educations, and call themselves ‘Conservatives’. . . I remember when a Conservative was someone who always mixed the best martinis . . . ACK–COMMERCIAL BREAK!!”

Ahh yes, finally something good on Allah’s and Ian’s favorite show (other than poor Elizabeth, of course).

If Al Gore needs a carbon footprint canyon, then Rosie needs a seismic faultline.

“Perceived security”?? Last time I checked, it was still a fact that we haven’t been attacked since September 11th. If that were not the case, she might have had something more to offer than just politically correct b.s.. But her eagerness to have the last word made it clear that Dennis’ last point was completely lost on her. This clip constitutes prima facie evidence that Rosie O’Donnell is as dumb as a box of rocks.

SpartRan on March 1, 2007 at 11:52 PM

Is there security at the t.v. studio where Rosie and the other klaxons work?

Then they have given up liberty.

Does she have locks on here doors at home?

Then she has given up liberty for security?

Does she have bodyguards for her kids?

More liberty sacrified for security?

Was she ever vaccinated?

Liberty forfeited for biological security.

This absolutist, delusional Franklin bugaboo quote has got to be retired as the intellectually-bankrupt, suicidally-simplistic cliche it is.

Wearing shoes is sacrificing liberty for the security of not stepping on nails (or even upon worms that can cause river blindness in less-advanced countries).

Miller needs to shoot this worthless doggeral down.

Any sign of appeasing its vapidity only encourages its longevity.

I don’t care what Dennis says, I for one will never back Hillary.

Never.

Not once.

Benaiah on March 2, 2007 at 12:27 AM

Does Rosie buy porkfat offsets?

right2bright on March 2, 2007 at 12:48 AM

Rosie and Joy continue to prove their ignorance, and that of the party they represent.

georgej on March 2, 2007 at 2:59 AM

OMG….What is that smell?! Nevermind it was just Rosie and Joy getting smoked by Dennis Miller!!!

If you sacrifice liberty for percieved security you don’t deserve either.

Leave it to the left with all their cliche phrases. She probably doesn’t even know what it means. They think they’re so smart it makes me sick. Ironically, over half of them didn’t even finish high school (and I might be light in that number)

Agreed. After Rose, Whitewater, the WH Travel Office, Filegate, National Health Care, “We’re going to take some of what’s yours…” and her first-hand experience in how to deal with “evil men…”, I don’t trust a thing that comes out of her mouth. No one with a brain should.

SpartRan on March 2, 2007 at 9:13 AM

Miller wasn’t endorsing Hillary, he was making the point that it’s the duty of a mature citizenry to support the lawfully elected leaders, even if you didn’t vote for them. Losing with grace, and having a sense of national unity that goes beyond who actually is in office at any given time. Anything less and our enemies – and there will always be enemies out there – will take advantage of the lack of discipline to hurt us as a nation.

Rosie is just one regurgitated platitude after another.

Boring, this woman.

Metro on March 2, 2007 at 10:10 AM

Man I love how she just drops stupid cliches like they are some great, original thought.

That’s the problem with Dems, they can’t aruge coherently and they just try to shout each other down.

wryteacher on March 2, 2007 at 10:19 AM

Well, I was for self-righteous, sanctimonious moo cows before I was against them.

wccawa on March 2, 2007 at 10:22 AM

Just for fun, keep in mind that Rosie also – although she’s a anti-gun zealot – has personal security who, of course, carry concealed firearms.

So it’s not REALLY that she won’t “trade liberty for security.” She’s perfectly happy to trade YOUR liberty for HER security. And trading her alleged principles for security doesn’t seem to be a problem, either.

It’s kind of like Al Gore’s mansion. Two orders of liberal hypocrisy, medium-rare. And make that to go.

Professor Blather on March 2, 2007 at 10:44 AM

Dennis Miller is great! He can make a point so well without calling someone a name AND still makes Rosie look like an idiot (I know, she doesn’t need any help with that), while he comes out smelling likes roses in a classy way at the same time. Can’t wait for his radio talk show to come out. I like Glenn Beck, but he’s going to give him a run for his money in the radio market.

That’s the problem with Dems, they can’t aruge coherently and they just try to shout each other down.

They can’t argue coherently because, A. they have never had an original thought in their entire lives or, B. because pot really does damage the brain, or C. all of the above.

Pulchritudinous Patriot on March 2, 2007 at 12:58 PM

Democrats don’t mind setting aside the second amendment because they feel less guns will save lives but they have no problem assigning the assumed right to privacy to terrorists who are doing all they can to take lives. It’s mind boggling that people who think like this exist.
