Isn’t the Goracle omnipotent? Why would he need to pass through security like us mere mortals?

thedecider on March 1, 2007 at 11:15 PM

An inconvenient (security) booth!

Jim Treacher on March 1, 2007 at 11:16 PM

He bought some security offsets beforehand.

You’re a funny dude – you need to buy some sobriety offsets :)

Can’t blame Mr. Gore too much – but he could have requested to be normal, just once. Again, ego too big. There are indeed two Americas.

Entelechy on March 1, 2007 at 11:16 PM

Was he afraid OSCAR up his a$$ would set off the metal detectors.

joeswampy on March 1, 2007 at 11:20 PM

All of us “little people” feel so inadequate…Heh

d1carter on March 1, 2007 at 11:22 PM

You do mean the Oscar he got in the science fiction catagory, right?

Yes, for best performance by a jackass since Shrek.

EnochCain on March 1, 2007 at 11:26 PM

Didn’t he invent airport security?

Wander on March 1, 2007 at 11:27 PM

Either people are getting to him about his private jets, or he did this on purpose to make a show of the fact that he flys comertial.

I’ve seen better sci-fi stories in “B” movies. At least they have an element of believability to them.

thedecider on March 1, 2007 at 11:31 PM

Al gore is God. Do we have a problem here, people?
Move along, he’s a dimocrat….. and an oscar winner.

Actually, I heard he was in a hurry home, to turn off a light.

Scotsman on March 1, 2007 at 11:31 PM

Really, serious breach of procedure. Poor girl was obviously star-struck.

Wonder if she checked his carbon offsets?

Special treatment?

Of course. He is the Pope of the First Church of Global Warming, he deserves it. All hail his excellency Pope Gore.

infidel4life on March 1, 2007 at 11:38 PM

Gore spokesperson responds “If the SCOTUS would not have intervened, Mr. Gore would not have to fly commercially today. He won”.

Entelechy on March 1, 2007 at 11:40 PM

Does anyone remember this happening to the Goracle back in ’02?

JetBoy on March 1, 2007 at 11:43 PM

Perhaps he was afraid of having a Spinal Tap moment at the metal detector. ‘Mr. Gore, is that an Oscar in your pants or are you just happy to see me?’

Both in the still and the video, why the 10 yr old picture of pre-pudgy Gore-bot? His hair is darker than Jerry Lewis’ in those shots…

Wineaholic on March 1, 2007 at 11:50 PM

This post and comments are way out of line.
It is not fair to expect a former senior elected official like Al Gore to be familiar with the nuances of airline security.
Give him a break.

Thanks. Was going by Al Coholic (among others… Jack D. Ripper and such) for a bit, then my friend complained that all he did was drink wine when he went out a few years back, and the idea flipped in my head. From then on, a star was born. I followed soon thereafter.

Wineaholic on March 2, 2007 at 12:05 AM

Following the link above, the story says Al Gore Inadvertently Breached Security. Why does he automatically receive this benefit of the doubt ?

Ahem… Oh I’m sorry, I forgot…. he’s the Goracle.

Mere airport security can not inhibit the man who slew Manbearpig.

Flying like the rest of us is new to him! He’s just trying to save the earth here. Maybe Hannity did some good raising the stink about gulfstream liberals; it got him thinking about what HE could do to reduce carbon emissions and he is taking ACTION!!!

I think that ……

starflyer on March 2, 2007 at 12:24 AM

nailed it.

First time flying “Business Class” AlGore?

Yeap, feces sure hit the fan when your “Carbon Footprint” was exposed, and now you are trying to be “all nice”….

Why don’t you loose the handlers, wait in line like the rest of us (if you are going to preach that we have to go back to living in tents and ride fart-free mules to go to work) do the same, or maybe……. actually read, and learn, the science that the Earth warms and cools itself in a direct proportion to the Sun.

Ever hear of the effect of water vapor in the air?

Ever hear of plants turning CO2 into Oxegen?

Ever hear of Geology?

Yes, we have pollution problems, but compared to India and China, the United States is “spot free”, and we, HUMANS, are NOT the cause of any Global Warming!

IDIOT!

And those who follow him as your “religion”, may God, his son “Jesus”, and the “Holy Spirit”, Bless and Heal your souls ……..

I think i’m going to take that back. After clicking this link in firefox, i’m now getting repeated “server not found” and “program not reponding” problems both in IE7 and firefox. Don’t know if it’s because of the link, but it wasn’t happening before. So if you’re using firefox, you probably shouldn’t click on the image above.

forged rite on March 2, 2007 at 2:39 AM

PinkyBigglesworth hit the nail on the head.

He’s only flying commercial BECAUSE of the stink over his electricity-wasting house and the negative publicity over his lame “purchased offsets” argument.

On the subject of airport security, we all have read complaints about the silliness and unreasonableness of screening and the PC-nonsense about profiling. This story is an example of both the silliness AND how celebrity can be abuseive.

Then there was former Governor of South Dakota and WWII CMH awardee Joe Foss who is also a retired USAF/ANG BG General. After 9/11, Gen. Foss was flying from his Arizona home to West Point to give a speech and was carrying his Medal of Honor with him, on his person.

If you want to read the silliness that followed, go to http://www.snopes.com/military/medal.htm

Who knew Saint Goracle could inspire poetry?

Is there anything this eco-God cannot do?

JammieWearingFool on March 2, 2007 at 8:40 AM

I’m amazed he even thought to accept the airline employee’s offer. What was he afraid of by standing in line with the rest of the sheeple that would make him break the law? Talk about arrogance! Maybe he didn’t want everyone to know he had a “lock box” of “carbon credits” on him.

JohnnyD on March 2, 2007 at 8:56 AM

This is annoying. Who does he think he is? Oh yeah, I forgot, the one line shown on every promo for his science fiction movie: “I’m Al Gore. I used to be the next President of the United States”.

You know that’s what this is about don’t you? He just thinks he’s above everyone. He should have been dealt with like anyone else would have in that situation though. He should have been arrested, detained, and questioned. Of course he’s not a threat, but it makes an example and sends a message.

Equally as important, does anyone find it funny what he was doing when he made this headline? Bording a plane!!! Saving the planet, one ton of carbon at a time! (Of course most of you know I don’t buy global warming anyway, but his hypocrisy is sickening). The lefties always talk about the carbon offsets, which everyone knows is retarded… But more importantly they say that he has to fly to all of these places to deliver his message.

Here’s the question I’ve been asking for a long time…. Why can’t he appear at talk shows and before conferences via web conference? Afterall, he invented the internet, why not use it’s high speed modern capabilities to use no fuel at all and lead by example, while also creating another media story with such a publicity stunt. I usually use the example of going on the late shows and the morning shows (as he did) in LA and NYC, appearing as a head in a computer monitor sitting in a guest chair.

Does that not create a buzz, while at the same time practicing what he preaches? As Coulter pointed out the other night, at least we know now that he’s just a liar, not stupid. Because if he truly believed what he says, he’d ac on it. PLEASE LIBERALS COME EXPLAIN TO ME WHY I’M WRONG! Yes, I’m baiting, but I can never get a liberal to explain to me why Gore can’t appear via internet, or satellite, or video phone, or even instant message if he truly believes what he’s saying!? Why does he have to be at all these places?

Oh, I forgot to mention, the link I included goes to a story on Gore bitching about the media not pumping Global Warming enough… Are you kidding me?!?!?!

RightWinged on March 2, 2007 at 8:59 AM

An airline employee gets sent away for re-education by Bu$hitler stormtroopers, tragic…

More importantly, the Right Wing Noise machine impugns the Goreacle(low pressure be upon him) not only for spreading the will of Gaia and Eco-Salvation, but selling it, even to himself…

Link of Blasphemy… The Profit of Doom

elgeneralisimo on March 2, 2007 at 9:03 AM

A real american hero would have refused the go around and waited in line like everyone else. The only way a dem would do that would be if they had a camera crew setup to capture it for posterity.

Friggen hypocritical elitists liberals.

My sons wait their turns in security everytime they fly and wouldn’t accept preferential treatment if it was offered. They even stopped wearing their uniforms because of all the meals offered and the praise and thanks embarass them. I told them to rethink that because we, the american public, NEED to be able to thank the troops when we see you. Just accept the thanks and refuse the meals because you already ate.

csdeven on March 2, 2007 at 9:11 AM

If the Goracle couldn’t forsee he’d have to go through security that very day, how reliable is his forecasting for the weather over the next two hundred years?

Prediction: Gore has a mental health breakdown sometime in the next two years. Bitterness, self-delusion … scary signs. What does he have that requires so much power inside that house of his? SPECTER’s giant, panoramic 360 world screens?

naliaka on March 2, 2007 at 9:16 AM

It just sounds to me like someone was awe-struck by Gore-a-mania. The airport person should be fired.

Gore should have rejected the special treatment and stated he would go through security like every other schmuck.

armyvet on March 2, 2007 at 9:38 AM

Where’s the damned locked box now ?

oldelpasoan on March 2, 2007 at 9:54 AM

I always thought that Gore’s type of brave new world would use vid conferencing to avoid excessive travel and the unneeded pollution it causes but I guess it is a plus that all the flak over his private jet miles has at least caused him to take commercial jets till this all blows over. Now can we get him to do something about his interests in Pasminco Zinc which has been repeatedly cited for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the Caney Fork River near his home.

Buzzy on March 2, 2007 at 10:13 AM

RightWinged on March 2, 2007 at 8:59 AM

Gore knows as much about the internet as he does about global warming. Probably thinks a blog is something you throw on a bfire, and web-conferencing is related to a secret decoder phone that spiderman uses.

Is this guy full of himself, or fool of himself?

Answer: Yes

fogw on March 2, 2007 at 10:33 AM

He bought some security offsets beforehand…

Actually, Gore is participating in the new “TOP American Program”, wherein he has purchased the “Total Offset Package”. This program allows him to circumvent any law, rule or custom which he might otherwise be required to follow, most particularly those he most strongly advocates. Other than his energy usage and security favors, he would, for instance, be able to make statements which are currently forbidden to others concerning protected race, class or gender issues – as long as he uses them in the proper context, or can say he has “botched” such a statement. There are truth offsets, so he can claim credit for any historical event or policy. Thus, if he runs for President, he can claim that he alone ended the Vietnam war. Why, it is so comprehensive, he could even hold another fundraiser at a Buddhist temple and maintain palusible deniability. It’s a great program!

eeyore on March 2, 2007 at 11:00 AM

…as well as “plausible” deniability.

eeyore on March 2, 2007 at 11:02 AM

Al “Truth Offsets” Gore.

Good one, eeyore!

RushBaby on March 2, 2007 at 11:03 AM

Most will disagree with me here but you have to give Gore credit for not taking a private jet. Also, it appears he did not request any special privilege but followed the instructions of airline employee.

I am not a fan of Gore. I do think that we should not jump to conclusions without rational analysis of the facts. It is far to easy to tag a political opponent with any and all baggage that comes along whether that offense is based on fact or not. We should not lower ourselves to the same tactics used so regularly by the left that we so deplore.

In short, I don’t think Gore did anything wrong from the information in the video and we should not lower ourselves to the level of the Left who so regularly uses this type of opportunity to distort the facts.

omegaram on March 2, 2007 at 11:25 AM

Like actually reducing one’s “carbon footprint,” passing through security is for the little people.
–Algore

JinxMcHue on March 2, 2007 at 12:04 PM

you have to give Gore credit for not taking a private jet.
omegaram on March 2, 2007 at 11:25 AM

You do realize that with the amount of money Gore has at his disposal, and the collosal appetite he has for power, that he could do all his speaking engagements via satellite hookup – in 3D hologram – from his own private media room at his house. All he has to do is contract via phone or email with local companies to provide the hookups on the other end – and no airtravel necessary at all. If he was really a visionary and was really serious about alternatives …

naliaka on March 2, 2007 at 12:09 PM

omegaram on March 2, 2007 at 11:25 AM

You missed the point. It’s about his ELITISM. For that reason alone he should be excoriated on a daily basis. At least until he wakes up and becomes a rational person. Don’t hold your breath for that, because if he did that, he would be a conservative.

csdeven on March 2, 2007 at 12:25 PM

If they wanted this movie of Gore’s to reach as many people as possible, why in the HELL would they charge for it and why in the HELL would they not allow direct or torrent download from Gore’s scary site?

Think of how much oil is used to make those dvd’s, cases for the dvd, transport them, ink, marketing.

they aren’t serious, he isn’t serious, he’s a snake oil salesman, a bad one at that.

benrand on March 2, 2007 at 12:26 PM

Hmmm… as an X VP, does he have Secret Service coverage? I know EX Presidents do….
