Video: “Red Eye” on the HuffPo/Cheney debacle

posted at 10:02 pm on February 28, 2007 by Allahpundit

Here’s a fun segment from last night’s show with trenchant commentary from Gut and guest Joel Mowbray about assassination fever in certain nutroots precincts. The boss is mentioned and Bryan may or may not be on tomorrow night to talk about YouTube bias, so we might as well get the backscratching going in full swing here.

I know Andrew Levy will see this post sooner or later, so I’m going to seize the opportunity. Dude, re: Julia Allison, repeat after me: permanent. cast. member.

They got caught in their usual tinfoil hatted leftist loon rage of hatred. They are not jokes. This is what these people actually think and feel. Look in on the other loon sites and then tell me they don’t mean it!!

They are “profound”. There is no other word to use in this PC
world. (BTW profound = moron). Their anti-semitism is even worse then this.

They can scream, run or jump up and down, but this is who they are and they can’t get away with their vitroil any longer.

sharinlite on February 28, 2007 at 10:18 PM

They’re taping the show right now, so Levy will be too drunk to reply for several hours.

Jim Treacher on February 28, 2007 at 10:33 PM

Catie Lazarus should be a regular too. She a cutie.

BJ on February 28, 2007 at 10:34 PM

Yeah, she is.

Treach works over there. How about it, JT? Gut, Levy, and a cast of thousands of beautiful female media types.

Allahpundit on February 28, 2007 at 10:37 PM

Okay – I definitely object to the assertion that people on blogs are cowards who say things they wouldn’t say face to face. That does not describe myself, or the people I choose to hang around. I doubt it describes many here who have strong opinions and “voice” them on these posts. As for HuffPo not pulling down the posts until after they received complaints – I’m not surprised. Hot Air is likely the fairest and cleanest blog I’ve ever visited. I can see the point that blogs on the left are far more vile. Although such blogs exist on the right, they are fewer, and the comments are not as hateful.

thedecider on February 28, 2007 at 10:39 PM

Let’s not overlook the gams on Rachel Marsden.

Hubba hubba!

Let’s also not overlook the fact that HuffPo comments are all moderated, so someone looked at the hateful moonbattery and said “Yeah, I’ll let that through”.

Pablo on February 28, 2007 at 10:41 PM

Treacher, you guys should have Emily Gould on again.

Alex K on February 28, 2007 at 10:45 PM

“YOU’RE FULL OF CRAP!”

Hehe, Grag wasn’t standing for that old disclaimer, “conservatives do the same thing.”

Kevin M on February 28, 2007 at 10:52 PM

I’ve been confined to my basement “office” for over a month, but I’ll try to get a word in the next time Gutfeld is viciously berating me while brandishing one of his many knives. Emily Gould would be nice to see again, and Samantha Judge is lovely as well.

Jim Treacher on February 28, 2007 at 10:57 PM

What’s up with Gutfield’s eyebrows? They scrunch up whenever he begins a thought, expresses a thought, finishes a thought, doesn’t have a thought… it must get painful after an hour-long taping.

billy on February 28, 2007 at 11:15 PM

Julia Allison seems to be very enamored with the host. Anyone else see this?

x95b10 on February 28, 2007 at 11:17 PM

Julia Allison seems to be very enamored with the host. Anyone else see this?

Yeah, I didn’t appreciate that. She needs to play to the audience more.

Alex K on February 28, 2007 at 11:20 PM

Julia Allison thinks the nutroots aren’t serious about wishing blessings upon suicide bombers targeting VPOTUS Cheney, or any other member of our executive branch?

A lovely talking head, yes, but not a lot going on between the ears.

SilverStar830 on February 28, 2007 at 11:28 PM

You mean there are other Blogs than Hot Air?

PinkyBigglesworth on February 28, 2007 at 11:29 PM

They should make that British soldier, Kevin, a permanent fixture. Oh, and make him take his shirt off so all the ladies can look upon his manly glory. I think this would make Red Eye perfect. Andrew is looking hot in his blue shirts, too. Brings out his eyes. Are their really chicks on this show?

Stormy70 on February 28, 2007 at 11:45 PM

There, not their. Sheesh.

Stormy70 on February 28, 2007 at 11:46 PM

PinkyBigglesworth on February 28, 2007 at 11:29 PM

No, really, there aren’t. Well, none worth wasting your time on. I can’t count the wasted time I’ve spent trying to change the hearts and minds of others only to come to the realization that people believe what they want to believe. Inexplicably, they even see what they want to see! Unfathomable as it may seem, there really are sheep in the world who are waiting for someone – anyone – to lead them astray.

thedecider on March 1, 2007 at 12:30 AM

If we are going to descend to ranking female television talent then put down an entertainment reporter the BOR has on from time to time. She’s a near past Miss USA or something. Blonde, beautiful… everything you could ask for. She smells like angels oughta smell. Anybody know who I’m talking about?

thegreatbeast on March 1, 2007 at 12:57 AM

Julia Allison, repeat after me: permanent. cast. member.

Well said, AP!

Chuck on March 1, 2007 at 1:04 AM

Some guys trade porn or talk about sports, I trade barbs all day long via email with about three liberal friends (still not an even match up) and they all say the same vitriolic things about conservatives. They don’t even blink when they try and accuse the right of hating Clinton more.

thedecider said: Inexplicably, they even see what they want to see!

You’re exactly right. There’s two kinds of people: those who see what they believe and those who believe what they see.

fudgypup on March 1, 2007 at 1:11 AM

Anybody know who I’m talking about?

Jill Dobson?

Allahpundit on March 1, 2007 at 1:13 AM

okay, let’s see:

1. julia will be back next week and will hopefully be a regular soon.

2. just for stormy, kevin godlington will be on every monday night from london. he’ll also be coming into new york at the end of march and we will spend the entire weekend drinking.

3. emily gould was on tonite. samantha judge will be on again on monday.

4. treacher doesn’t work on the show – he’s too busy keeping the daily gut running! plus in real life he’s only 12 years old and it’s past his bed time!

5. despite what treacher said, i’m actually sober, and i don’t think i like it.

Levy on March 1, 2007 at 1:18 AM

oh, and barring some unforseen event, bryan will definitely be on the show tomorrow night.

Levy on March 1, 2007 at 1:25 AM

This is kinda of like how conversations in my head go.

MirCat on March 1, 2007 at 1:37 AM

Or at least that’s what you thought until Chris Hansen walked in!

Jim Treacher on March 1, 2007 at 1:52 AM

A. Levy,

Any word on what’s happening with the Half hour comedy hour?

Bill C on March 1, 2007 at 1:55 AM

Has anybody asked the question as to what is going to happen when the leftists don’t get their way on either ending the war or impeaching Bush?

We had the instance of a UWM liberal (Andrew Stone) traveling to the east cost to assault three people he thought was a Bush supporter and a supporter of the war.

What happens when Congress does NOT defund the war, as is probable? What happens when Pelosi and Reid block impeachment, as they are promising to do?

How unhinged are these people?

georgej on March 1, 2007 at 2:14 AM

I was wondering how many bannings would have happened here on HA, if so many or fewer would have wished death on anyone…

Gotta be Jill Dobson.

I’m all about the Fox News Foxes, including the new ones your show has brought to the table, but I’ve got to recommend Pat Dollard being a regular guest. Especially because his documentary is going to need all the publicity it can get when it’s released and he’s frozen out by the MSM.

That said, back to the broads… Couldn’t hurt to toss a little Julie Banderas and Rebecca Gomez in the mix… I would say Kiran Chetry, but we all know by now what happened to her.

And you guys could be a little nicer to Rachel. I feel like she looks sadder and sadder each show, like a girl in school being made fun of and slowly pushed out from her group of friends. I know, she’s not as “funny” as everyone else, and gets a little windy with making points (I can empathize), which goes against the fast paced style of the show a bit, but I don’t know… I just seems like no one ever lets up. Especially Bill who loves to talk about chicks, yet he’s clearly gay.

RightWinged on March 1, 2007 at 7:30 AM

Is Greg a breath of fresh air, or what? I still haven’t caught the show, I need to put it on my Tivo list.

robblefarian on March 1, 2007 at 9:12 AM

…. Oh yeah, maybe you could get Marianne Silber in the mix too.

RightWinged on March 1, 2007 at 9:12 AM

So the argument is the right posts the same thing. Well boys and girls on the left, if that is true (and I do not think it is even remotely true), one thing is true…we don’t act on it.
Let’s list them again (in the past few months). A liberal breaking into a house and assaulting, defacing the monuments of freedom, calling for (in marches) the death of the president, publicly refjoicing over the death of our soldiers, storming the stage of conservative speakers across the nation, picketing homes of private citizens who they found out were conservatives, candidates hiring blogger “hit-men” to incite their base…their actions speak louder than their words.

Sticks and stones…well they have picked up the sticks and stones.

right2bright on March 1, 2007 at 9:22 AM

That one guy made a good point. Now unless Arianna was just busy for quite some time at the wrong time the other day, how do you explain a thread like that getting to 60 pages before it’s yanked?

Esthier on March 1, 2007 at 9:27 AM

Esthier on March 1, 2007 at 9:27 AM

That, and the fact that these sorts of comments are on their CONSTANTLY. As Hannity pointed out the other night, it’s not just commenters… she has bloggers who cheer on Cheney’s heart for repeated attempts on Cheney’s life. But the point about all those comments… It’s honestly a pretty regular occurance there and at Kos, etc. to see them hoping for Cheney’s death, and virtually anything you can think of that would shock you to the point of thinking it has to be a joke.

RightWinged on March 1, 2007 at 9:35 AM

Well Fox News gets it. That’s nice.

… Hey mom where are the Cheetohs?

Mojave Mark on March 1, 2007 at 10:20 AM

Thanks for the info on Kevin. I actually like him for his mind, as I am not really so shallow to only notice his great guns. ;) I second the comment about Pat Dollard. both of these guys had more knowledge than most of the idiot pundits on other news shows. Can you get Steyn to appear? He’s awesome and he has an accent. Win win.

Red Eye is really the best show on Fox, and I hope Fox knows it. I hope the Season pass on Tivo registers in the ratings.

Stormy70 on March 1, 2007 at 10:43 AM

Julia Allison, repeat after me: permanent. cast. member.

Cute, but brain dead. Conservatives say the same things???

Gut said it best, LOUDLY too.

Unless I’m reading you wrong, did you just compliment Gutfeld’s guns? I think it’s a safe assumption he’s ever been complimented on his guns… Greg Gunfeld, if you’re reading this, can you confirm this for me?

RightWinged on March 1, 2007 at 11:35 AM

She’s talking about Kevin, the British army guy who guests occasionally, not Gutfeld.

Allahpundit on March 1, 2007 at 11:35 AM

Try googling images of Julia! OUCH!!!!!!

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on March 1, 2007 at 12:14 PM

Dream Team Seats for “RedEye” starting from the left of your screen and ending on the right:

HOST = Greg Gutfeld (obviously)
CHAIR #1 = Reserved for nightly guest
CHAIR #2 = Rachel Marsden OR Julia Allison
REMOTE = Either the FNC newsroom or satlink to guest

Having fewer guests will help keep the discussions on track and reduce the abundant crosstalk in the show’s current configuration.

4 in studio guests + 1 satlink = inifinite chaos

Allahpundit on March 1, 2007 at 11:35 AM

Oh I gotcha now, I just read what Stormy said and thought she was thanking Kevin, who is another commenter above who said:

“YOU’RE FULL OF CRAP!”

Hehe, Grag wasn’t standing for that old disclaimer, “conservatives do the same thing.”

Kevin M on February 28, 2007 at 10:52 PM

I thought Stormy said “Thanks for the info Kevin”, I see now she said “info on Kevin”.

Anyway, as long as no one is here raving about Gutfeld’s guns I can rest easy.

RightWinged on March 1, 2007 at 1:06 PM

1. dollard was supposed to be on yesterday but he was crashing in the editing room so we had to postpone. but he’ll at the very least be semi-regular – as long as he keeps taking his metamucil!

2. bill is completely and utterly straight. sorry, boys!

3. no idea whatsoever what’s up with the half-hour news hour.

4. gutfeld’s guns are sublime!

Levy on March 1, 2007 at 1:23 PM

I don’t notice Greg’s guns because of his striped clown shirts. I am easily distracted at times.

I love Bill, too. I loved his silent flirting with the blond gal.

Stormy70 on March 1, 2007 at 1:31 PM

I’m only truly happy when Jessica Coen is on.

jtdavies on March 1, 2007 at 1:31 PM

Stormy70 on March 1, 2007 at 1:32 PM

Geez, I have long hair, smoke dope, listen to heavy metal, eat Dorittos, and hang out in my basement, and bash liberals on blogs all day. And I’m a conservative. What the F happened to me? I can’t be alone out here? Anyway, I rate this story 8 joints out of 10….Rock On!

soulsirkus on March 1, 2007 at 1:48 PM

Gutfeld has nice pecs too! (He exercises them by strangling me and hurling me against the walls.)

I would say Kiran Chetry, but we all know by now what happened to her…

Yes, RW, you have my condolences…I thought of you when she switched.

Entelechy on March 1, 2007 at 2:35 PM

Yes, RW, you have my condolences…I thought of you when she switched.

Entelechy on March 1, 2007 at 2:35 PM

In the interest of accuracy, I have to say I don’t know that she “switched”.

As hot as she was, and as much as she might have deserved E.D.’s old chair (as Kiran had been doing the weekends for quite some time, and really did a great job), she and/or her managers were a-holes for trying to get Gretchen fired (if those reports are to be believed). In turn Chetry was fired… or more gently her contract wasn’t renewed.

Her options were CNN or MSNBC who were both probably drooling, hoping to steal a few viewers when they stole her… Obviously she followed the money. But she didn’t follow the money out the Fox door… She followed it when she was already kicked out on the curb.

Anyway, I’m a stickler for details and I don’t want to make it sound like she’s abig shot and “switched”… She got a little too big for her britches..er ridiculously short miniskirts… tried to play hard ball with Ailes, and lost. She took the CNN gig because she had to, but I can almost guarantee she doesn’t want to be there.

RightWinged on March 1, 2007 at 3:03 PM

Anyway, I’m a stickler for details…

RightWinged on March 1, 2007 at 3:03 PM

No! Just kidding you :) I simply meant ‘switched’ stations…no more. A girl has to earn a living, and you’re a fair man. I agree with every detail :) you wrote.
