Not to belabor the point, but: they’ll call it an “antiwar” rally, the press will show up expecting an “antiwar” rally and, like zombies, walk away thinking they just covered an “antiwar” rally. Nevermind the eight hours of insane anti-Bush, anti-West, anti-capitalist, anti-Israel, anti-everything rambling by every self-proclaimed “oppressed minority” on the planet. Joe Reporter from ABNBCBS shows up when the ANSWER press release tells him to show up, grabs two lines of broadcast-safe “antiwar” mumbojumbo and leaves.

Do take pictures, do shoot video, do post it. Do visit zombietime to see how it’s done. Do hold your nose, click over to Slate, and read this piece by Christopher Hitchens.

For those who have never been to a jumbo anti-war rally before, here is my post on the last ANSWER rally in DC back in September 2005. Probably 30,000 to 50,000 protestors will show up in one big steaming pile. ANSWER will claim 500,000 showed up and the media will parrot the claim.

They’ll probably set up between the Wall and the pond. Around 11 AM, they’ll start off a roster of a couple dozen radical speakers calling America evil and George Bush a liar. The speakers will still be hectoring the crowd at 1 PM, when the march is supposed to started. Eventually, the marchers will push off around 1:30 to 2:00 PM.

You can expect a freak show. My advice is to bring a camera and videocamera to document what you see. If you don’t document it, it didn’t happen as far as the media is concerned. Upload your photos to a blog on Blogger or the equivalent and upload your video to YouTube the same night, so you stay within the news cycle. Wait more than a day and it’s stale news. If you have particularly outrageous stills or video, send the link to Fox News. One fifteen second clip of the moonbats acting stupid can defeat their entire demonstration. I can guarantee you that when tens of thousands of moonbats meet hundreds of veterans at The Wall, there will be some spitting going on. Document it!

Look for all the communist groups. There will be plenty. Remember that ANSWER is a front group for the Stalinist Worker’s World Party, which supports North Korea’s Kim Jong-Ils horrific slave state and every dirtbag dictator you ever heard of. FBI Director Louis Freeh called the WWP a domestic terror group. That means a domestic terror group is leading a political demonstration against the same Pentagon that Al Qaeda targeted with their suicide jet. WWP/ANSWER and Al Qaeda have the same target.

It’s also worth thinking about that the commies of WWP/ANSWER are promoting an ideology that murdered one hundred million people in the last century. The last place commies will lead you is to peace.

The modern digital media world has a lot of dangers, like one video being a whisper and the next BLOWING YOUR HEAD OFF!

Changing volume in the video is more convenient than changing your system volume constantly.

I love hearing MM, but I like to hear things other than ringing afterward!

“Bring a flag that has special meaning or significance to you, because these flags are going to be given to the finest Americans: our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. After the D.C. rally we’ll send each flag that was displayed to a unit serving in Iraq or Afghanistan with a placard explaining where the flag flew and why.”

Wish I could go … but I’ll be on a business trip.

Still, that was a compelling Vent: made me want to do something along the lines of “putting down the remote and getting off the couch.”

Lucky for me, I don’t have to feel guilty about doing nothing: I’ll be extending my enlistment at this weekend’s drill.

Do realize that the press is cozy in bed with the lefties and has already written up its coverage, with a blank space left for the inflated numbers that the “antiwar” crew will provide for them. We are the also-rans, the counter-event. The front page will have a six-column photo of the “antiwar” crowd; if we’re lucky, some photog will hop over to the Gathering and snap a shot of Joe and Jane Schmoe from Indiana for “balance.”

That said, don’t settle for lameass coverage. Call your paper and ask if they’re covering the Gathering. If not, offer to take photos yourself and get a name and email address where you can submit them. Approach any reporter you see. Designate a spokesperson; “You know, you really should talk to…” If you drove from Florida, make up a big ass sign that says so. Call the TV station and make yourself available: “We’re carpooling to the Gathering, come ask us why.”

The media are lazy-ass good-for-nothings (OK, I was one) who expect to show up for five minutes to get “the color” and be handed a press release. Know that and accomodate them. Grab up a bunch from ANSWER and hand ‘em over.

Does that make sense?
