I found the message of this video to be disturbingly anti-chip.

I didn’t know these darn screens looked both ways….

No more blogging in my lazyboy

I’d go but I’m 10,000 miles away

EricPWJohnson on February 28, 2007 at 9:15 AM

Count me in.

Malpaso on February 28, 2007 at 9:16 AM

You go Girl!!

God Bless our troops

Chuck on February 28, 2007 at 9:21 AM

Having some experience with counterprotesting the moonbat rallys I find this to be a very encouraging sign. Several different groups are coming together in a show of (non-violent) force. Numbers are needed, troops on the ground so to speak. When a small group shows up they are usually belittled by the MSM and confronted in an agressive manner but some of the more unhinged.
We need a surge on Washington!

Babs on February 28, 2007 at 9:22 AM

awesome! thanks for promoting this. i’ve got my ticket.

jummy on February 28, 2007 at 9:28 AM

Great. What about the rest of y’all?

Michelle on February 28, 2007 at 9:30 AM

I won’t be there, but I was at Glenn Beck’s Rally for America back in the day. And I’ve crashed a couple of moonbat rallies as well.

And for anyone who thinks “Socialist” is just an offhand slur in this Vent, I dare you to play “Six Degrees of Communism.” Check out the links pages on the websites of ANSWER, Code Pink, World Can’t Wait, etc. You’ll be at the Workers World Party within two clicks. Follow the money…

saint kansas on February 28, 2007 at 9:34 AM

I’m going to be there; I’m only a few hours away.

dalewalt on February 28, 2007 at 9:52 AM

Can’t make it. How else can I help?

GoingThere on February 28, 2007 at 9:58 AM

Are the ANSWER folks buying carbon offsets to counter all of their concentrated emissions?

saint kansas on February 28, 2007 at 10:00 AM

Can’t make it. March 17 is the holiest day on my calendar. Y’all?

RedWinged Blackbird on February 28, 2007 at 10:00 AM

I’m WITH YOU, Michelle!! ‘Been planning to get my backside to DC that weekend since I first heard about this a month ago.

Looking forward to seeing you all there, and protecting our precious Vietnam Vets memorial! (And stomping some socialists if they try to harm it!! Oh PLEASE let Cindy try to get past me…. :)

God Bless our Troops, our Vets and God Bless America!!

tickleddragon on February 28, 2007 at 10:22 AM

Reading Michelle’s piece in todays op-ed section of the NY Post, it’s unreal that…as she states…only 40 people protested the protesters the last time tens of thousands of them showed up in DC…

This time, it’s looking much better for our side…

Having gone to school, and lived, in the DC area, I know my way around. In NYC area now, but I will definetely be going. Time to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. If our men & women in uniform can put themselves on death’s doorstep on a daily basis, I can surely stand around the Mall in Washington one afternoon and defend them…

Mazztek on February 28, 2007 at 10:53 AM

Having your support means a lot to us Vets who will be there. I was looking forward to this since I first heard about it weeks ago. My travel plans are made.

Those of you who haven’t read the GoE site will be amazed at the number of people who are flying and driving long distances just to be there. We have group from Illinois.

Got to Stand the Line again.

Thanks again Michelle and all of you who support this effort.

BobK on February 28, 2007 at 11:28 AM

Great Vent Michelle!

Good point. The question is not what can be done, but we are willing to do. Well taken.

omegaram on February 28, 2007 at 11:55 AM

USAF, 1988-1995, Capt, Viper driver. I’m only three hours away and already have a carpool of 4 of us heading up to stand guard over the Memorials.

Faith1 on February 28, 2007 at 11:55 AM

Going there-you can donate at Gathering of Eagles’ website. We’re supposed to fly back to the mainland that night so I already donated. There are actually some who are coming from Hawaii. We are seeeing if we can come back a few days early to attend but since he just got home they want him on island 30 days to make sure he’s okay. Thank all of you who are going to be there and hope we can be too! Thanks Michelle as this is getting very little press outside the military, pro military world.

Catie96706 on February 28, 2007 at 12:03 PM

If I can get an earlier flight back from Miami, count me in (my travel office is on it as we speak).

Zorro on February 28, 2007 at 12:26 PM

I will be unable to attend but I followed the link to “Gathering of Eagles” and made a contribution.

roydee43 on February 28, 2007 at 1:01 PM

Michelle, great PSA video! It will spread like wildfire! Thanks so much for your support. All of us veterans greatly appreciate it.

On a personal note: Coming from a place where I’ve had a serious crisis of faith in the leadership of my country, I am now renewed and inspired to know that We, The People CAN make a difference! Our response to Jane Fonda, Cindy Sheehan, ANSWER, Code Pink, and the rest of their socialistic ilk will be like nothing this country has ever seen before. We are expecting TENS of thousands of veterans, families, friends, and supporters from all over the nation. THIS is the way our country is supposed to work, folks.

This Gathering of Eagles is a purely spontaneous event – and it is growing exponentially every hour!!! I have never heard of or seen anything like it. I’ve watched it explode from just a few vets talking about the idea a month ago, to now a full-blown (and MASSIVE) grassroots movement! We have filled thousands of hotel rooms already and are scrambling to find more. We can’t keep up with demand! We filled 100 rooms in one hotel in less than one day!

All that to say…if you’ve been thinking about going, make your travel plans NOW. There’s no time to “think about it” any longer! Here’s a travel hint: most flights into DC are booked for Friday, or rapidly filling up. If you can fly into DC on Wednesday or Thursday and return on a Monday, your airfare will be almost half.

Email me at heidi at gatheringofeagles dot org if you need anything. I’ll be glad to help!

Mazztek on February 28, 2007 at 10:53 AM

Yet MORE evidence that good things come in small packages.

It is amazing the way that God crammed that amazing intellect, that giant heart, and that impressive whirlwind of a spirit into such a tiny little package, isn’t it? Not even the BEST Japanese or European automobile designers can come anywhere close to touching a design like the one we see in Ms. Malkin. ‘Nuff said.

Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend on the weekend of March 17th. I will be on travel (overseas). Personal matters. I’ll have to try to get updated (to see how things turned out) via Internet Cafe, or somethin’. You are all in my prayers. God go with you.

CyberCipher on February 28, 2007 at 1:49 PM

All I can say is thank you Michelle. The Gathering needs all the folks who yabber yabber yabber here to get up and DO SOMETHING!
My wife and I leave on the 15th. See you at the wall!

OT: Who is getting the money for these Carbon offset ‘taxes’?

BOT: Wish I could be there, but I live in Cali and can’t take the time from work.

opusrex on February 28, 2007 at 3:11 PM

Can’t make it to the rally in DC as I live out in San Diego but I plan to attend the rally in Palm Springs when the caravan spends the night there.

ic1redeye on February 28, 2007 at 3:25 PM

Since Michelle brought the chips, let me bring the wet blanket.

It doesn’t matter if you attend.

Wait! Don’t throw that rock yet… hear me out.

Do realize that the press is cozy in bed with the lefties and has already written up its coverage, with a blank space left for the inflated numbers that the “antiwar” crew will provide for them. We are the also-rans, the counter-event. The front page will have a six-column photo of the “antiwar” crowd; if we’re lucky, some photog will hop over to the Gathering and snap a shot of Joe and Jane Schmoe from Indiana for “balance.”

That said, don’t settle for lameass coverage. Call your paper and ask if they’re covering the Gathering. If not, offer to take photos yourself and get a name and email address where you can submit them. Approach any reporter you see. Designate a spokesperson; “You know, you really should talk to…” If you drove from Florida, make up a big ass sign that says so. Call the TV station and make yourself available: “We’re carpooling to the Gathering, come ask us why.”

The media are lazy-ass good-for-nothings (OK, I was one) who expect to show up for five minutes to get “the color” and be handed a press release. Know that and accomodate them. Grab up a bunch from ANSWER and hand ’em over.

Does that make sense?

saint kansas on February 28, 2007 at 3:26 PM

I am in Norfolk VA, so I’ll be their. Anyone need a lift let me know.
My car seats 4, or six if they are small :)

Michelle on February 28, 2007 at 9:30 AM

Wish I could go … but I’ll be on a business trip.

Still, that was a compelling Vent: made me want to do something along the lines of “putting down the remote and getting off the couch.”

Lucky for me, I don’t have to feel guilty about doing nothing: I’ll be extending my enlistment at this weekend’s drill.

God bless you for your support of the troops, Michelle!

Spurius Ligustinus on February 28, 2007 at 3:34 PM

Totally awsome MM!

csdeven on February 28, 2007 at 3:49 PM

You do not have to be in the Washington, DC area to participate. There is a coast to coast caravan going from California to the rally in Washington, DC. They start out on Thursday March 8th in downtown San Francisco with a number of stops in California (Lafayette, Vacaville, Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno, Bakersfield, Los Angeles, Palm Springs), then in Arizona (Phoenix, Tucson), Texas (El Paso, Midland-Odessa, Dallas), Arkansas (Little Rock), Georgia (Atlanta), South Carolina (Columbia), North Carolina (Charlotte, Raleigh) and Virginia (Richmond).

Details –

The Move American Forward caravan are encouraging folks who attend the rally to bring an American flag to donate –
Bring a flag that has special meaning or significance to you, because these flags are going to be given to the finest Americans: our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. After the D.C. rally we’ll send each flag that was displayed to a unit serving in Iraq or Afghanistan with a placard explaining where the flag flew and why.”

olympian2008 on February 28, 2007 at 4:27 PM

I know I’ve said this before – but “volume controls.”

The modern digital media world has a lot of dangers, like one video being a whisper and the next BLOWING YOUR HEAD OFF!

Changing volume in the video is more convenient than changing your system volume constantly.

I love hearing MM, but I like to hear things other than ringing afterward!

Merovign on February 28, 2007 at 5:21 PM

I was a bit alarmed to see Michelle depicted as a couch potato. I like her more glammed up than that. But then, I thought, hey, if hot chicks are couch potatoes maybe I got a shot! That cheered me up considerably.

For those who have never been to a jumbo anti-war rally before, here is my post on the last ANSWER rally in DC back in September 2005. Probably 30,000 to 50,000 protestors will show up in one big steaming pile. ANSWER will claim 500,000 showed up and the media will parrot the claim.

They’ll probably set up between the Wall and the pond. Around 11 AM, they’ll start off a roster of a couple dozen radical speakers calling America evil and George Bush a liar. The speakers will still be hectoring the crowd at 1 PM, when the march is supposed to started. Eventually, the marchers will push off around 1:30 to 2:00 PM.

You can expect a freak show. My advice is to bring a camera and videocamera to document what you see. If you don’t document it, it didn’t happen as far as the media is concerned. Upload your photos to a blog on Blogger or the equivalent and upload your video to YouTube the same night, so you stay within the news cycle. Wait more than a day and it’s stale news. If you have particularly outrageous stills or video, send the link to Fox News. One fifteen second clip of the moonbats acting stupid can defeat their entire demonstration. I can guarantee you that when tens of thousands of moonbats meet hundreds of veterans at The Wall, there will be some spitting going on. Document it!

Look for all the communist groups. There will be plenty. Remember that ANSWER is a front group for the Stalinist Worker’s World Party, which supports North Korea’s Kim Jong-Ils horrific slave state and every dirtbag dictator you ever heard of. FBI Director Louis Freeh called the WWP a domestic terror group. That means a domestic terror group is leading a political demonstration against the same Pentagon that Al Qaeda targeted with their suicide jet. WWP/ANSWER and Al Qaeda have the same target.

It’s also worth thinking about that the commies of WWP/ANSWER are promoting an ideology that murdered one hundred million people in the last century. The last place commies will lead you is to peace.

You can expect a freak show. My advice is to bring a camera and videocamera to document what you see.

Amen to what Tantor said. Not to belabor the point, but: they’ll call it an “antiwar” rally, the press will show up expecting an “antiwar” rally and, like zombies, walk away thinking they just covered an “antiwar” rally. Nevermind the eight hours of insane anti-Bush, anti-West, anti-capitalist, anti-Israel, anti-everything rambling by every self-proclaimed “oppressed minority” on the planet. Joe Reporter from ABNBCBS shows up when the ANSWER press release tells him to show up, grabs two lines of broadcast-safe “antiwar” mumbojumbo and leaves.

Do take pictures, do shoot video, do post it. Do visit zombietime to see how it’s done. Do hold your nose, click over to Slate, and read this piece by Christopher Hitchens.

P.S. I just clicked over to the GOE site and teared right up, having lost my WWII vet father in December. Thanks everyone for your efforts.
