McCain does not have a chance. I don't think he could beat Hillary let alone get enough Republicans to vote for him in the primary. If he does go independent. I think it would benefit the RNC

He popularity comes from the MSM and they will not be behind him once Obama or Hillary is running.

Don’t leave out Newt.

Newt is a member of the CFR too. Lately he sounds like a conservative but I am not buying it. The DNC will demonize him right out of the race.

I am going to vote for Tancredo or Hunter or Both which would be a fantastic team.

Prediction: McCain is going to run as an independent. (Someone asked why he's snub CPAC?) He'll attempt to be another Perot but this time with more success. The overly vocal left wingnuts will make the dem frontrunners increasingly pander. The moderate dems will feel alienated. McCain will seek them a/w/a socially liberal republicans. He views the current Republicans as too average to excite turnout. He's thinking he'll sweep the middle and win. We'll see.

If so many conservative blogs want to be the McCain hating blogs and do a hit piece on him every chance they get, then fine. But we will only be shooting ourselves in the foot.

The only thing McCain has been conservative on is the war. He has urinated on the conservative base every chance he's had with his civil rights for terrorists bill, the gang of 14, Minutemen supporters are nativists, ect. It's not just that he doesn't he agree with any of our positions, he's insulted us as well. Apparently, there's something wrong with us if we're against amnesty, ect. Now this a**clown wants to say he's the most conservative? Bullcrap. He has almost as much contempt for us as Hillary; at least she doesn't pretend to be one of us. I'm not going to support McCain and baby step around his suck-a** record just because he has an 'R' next to his name. Loyalty to party before principle is a Democrat trait. John McCain winning is not a conservative victory. Look how GWB has turned on the conservative movement; and he's not nearly as insulting to conservatives as McCain. No, McCain should not be coddled. I think he should be hounded right the hell out of the party. Let him be the second pro-war democrat with Lieberman.

I vote for John McCain is just like voting for Ted Kennedy.

I will vote for a real conservative like Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter. I am sick and tired of being told to vote for left winged liberals that call themselves Republicans.

Guilliani is not a conservative, he is a RHINO. Romney is a RHINO. Both are members of the CFR and are one world Government backers.

The RNC has sold out us out yet again by pushing liberal candidates.

msipes,

No, he certainly does not think Iraq is a waste. No one has supported this war more and no one has supported the troops more. If we had fought the war the way McCain wanted to with a troop surge long ago, then hundreds or thousands of live would have been saved. That's what he meant. Good grief.

If so many conservative blogs want to be the McCain hating blogs and do a hit piece on him every chance they get, then fine. But we will only be shooting ourselves in the foot.

When all is said and done and McCain gets the nomination, the rightwing blogs will have enough ammo on him that the leftwing blogs want even have to work at it. They will just have to copy and paste.

Thanks crushliberalism on that quote. That is what I was going for Rightwingsparkle. McCain basically called Iraq a waste and everything these troops fight for a "waste". He will never get the Republican nomination.

But LakeRuins is right. Gingrich and Guiliani is pretty much all we have.

I think McCain is trying to develope an image comparable to Sen Leiberman. He is definelty turning his back on the core conservatives. I consider myself more in the middle and wasn't going to vote for him anyway, and now that it appears that he is more closely aligned with the Ted Kennedy's of congress I think he can just about shut down his campaign before it starts. I think right now for Republicans the best bets are either Guiliani or Gingrich. For Gingrich to be successful there must be more of the Republicans running for election in the next election cycle coming out and acting more conservative.
The tone set by those running for the House and Senate in the next election is what will determine which one of the "G's" will win.

Republican presidential contender John McCain (news, bio, voting record), a staunch backer of the Iraq war but critic of how President Bush has waged it, said U.S. lives had been "wasted" in the four-year-old conflict. Democrats demand the Arizona senator apologize for the comment as Sen. Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) did when the Democratic White House hopeful recently made the same observation.

"Americans are very frustrated, and they have every right to be," McCain said Wednesday on CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman." "We've wasted a lot of our most precious treasure, which is American lives."

Way to go after those military moms' votes, Johnny Mac! I'm sure your remarks that their kids are "wasting" their lives in Iraq will be as well received as Ted Kennedy at the Kopechne family reunion.

Wonder why he didn't make this announcement on the border?

Too crowded?

Or in front of the prison where the border guards were unjustly incarcerated for defending our country?

Something he should supposedly (Hanoi Hilton) have some sympathy for.

I'm for Tancredo, but I'll vote for Guiliani if it keeps the Defeatocrats out.

McCain makes a good Tater Tot, but not a president.

he isn’t playing to the conservative base when he announces on Letterman.

And he still isn't, when he turns down an invite to CPAC. You're right, who's he playing to, by announcing his candidacy on David Letterman, which is filmed in a liberal city, watched by many liberals?

I can’t wait until the real Republicans start declaring their candidacies. i.e. Brownback, Hunter, etc.

Except, according to RCP polls, among others, they don't have a chance, garnering about 4% of the Republican vote.

McCain, as I've pointed out, continues to go left. Giuliani is willing to change, and become more Conservative. I can assure you one thing, the next Prez won't be a strong Conservative like Brownback. The next Prez will have (Enter Candidate name Here) Democrats, much like Reagan.

I did not watch the video…I am not one who likes to watch snuff films, or people committing suicide.
