Seriously, this show makes us look bad and it’s almost as if it’s done on purpose… I mean how could they not have known it was bad? How could Fox, the masters, not have brought in top writers, etc. to bang out an awesome show? Something fishy. And in the words of George Costanza (though it’s probably from somewhere else too) – “This thing is like an onion… The more layers ya peel, the more it stinks!”

It wasn’t that bad. Really. Not from a blind to anything that is bad for conservatives, hate liberals PoV but objectively not bad, it was funny in some parts. The line about Hillary bringing in angry lesbians is gold. Just as funny was Kurtz’s attempt to illicit outrage by pointing out the “sly dig at gays.” Un-PC = funny.

Comedy is hard. They have two writers and they need twelve. I think they produced the pilot without much input from Fox and they are waiting for Fox to sign off on more episodes. I wouldn’t kill it but there are a lot you could do to improve their first effort.

Andrew Levy definitely needs a weekly rant or special correspondant position.

I’m not a writer by any means, but I pulled these out of my arse back when we all first discussed the preview clip when it hit YouTube. I wrote these straight off the top of my head, and while not refined or top notch stuff, I think you guys would agree they beat most of the crap from the THHNH:

“Today’s top story: Democrats moved on the nonbinding resolution, opposing President Bush’s policy in Iraq. When asked about their earlier votes in support of the war, and 13 years making the WMD case themselves, the Senate Democrats reminded us that this was before public opinion turned against the war.” (obnoxious laugh track)

“Barack Obama experienced a jump in polls this week, cutting the gap between him and frontrunner Hillary Clinton. When asked what he brought to the table as a Presidential candidate, he said simply, “I don’t know if anyone told you but I’m black”.”

Then for fun in the “Mitt Romney’s Great-Great-Grandfather had 12 wives thread” I tossed out another one the other day:

“It’s been reported that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s great-great-grandfather had 12 wives. Upon hearing this former President Bill Clinton converted to Mormonism.”

Again, these aren’t thought out finely tuned jokes, but they fit the format of what the show is supposed to be, and aren’t lame skits like “BO Magazine”. I’m sure if any of us sat here for 10 minutes we’d come up with 3 or 4 more that would easily beat most of what made it to air in that pilot.

It’s true. At the time, a lot of people read a lot into Letterman’s production company’s superimposition of “Snipers Wanted” over video of GOP nominee George W. Bush, but that kind of humor works on so many levels… you can’t jump to conclusions.

As an aside, to see how low Fox paranoia among the nutroots has sunk, check out Johnny Dollar’s expose of the outright lies being spread to pressure Democrats into backing out of an FNC debate scheduled for August. An Important Action Alert has already been issued and the Fox-hate websites are lining up behind it. For the moment, the Democrats aren’t backing down.

One of my wife’s very liberal friends sent her the MoveOn petition asking her to sign and join in their fight. I find the whole thing to be rather amusing. One would think that trying to spread their message to all would be better than suppressing it – nothing like “progressive” thinking.

Is it time to start hunting down the nutroots with dogs, yet?
