Well done….. but what is on the news, Al Gore….

While Americans are still largely focused on Al Qaeda and Usama bin Laden — who’s presumably rotting away in some cave — the terrorist group Hezbollah has been setting up shop right here in America’s heartland. And most Americans don’t know a thing about it. But we should know more about Hezbollah — a lot more.

As tensions with Iran are increasing, it’s important to keep in mind that Hezbollah is largely funded by Iran and has operated as its tool in terror operations around the world.

Am I the only one who has forgotten that they are at war with us, and our allies?

The war exists, it is real, and it is deadly.

The Democrats and Hollywood may want you not to think about it, but the Iranians and their allies think about it everyday.

They wake up, sitting on a pile of money and oil, and think how to “Kill Americans”, how to “Better to Kill Americans, “What is the best way to kill Americans?”, “How can we kill many Americans?” everyday. Every minute. That’s all they are doing!

There is no diplomatic answer, you can not reason with them, and live in peace as a neighbor with our values……. if you don’t fight back, you, and your family, are dead!

They are actively killing US and Coalition forces in the theater of Iraq, and proof of this is down played.

These people are not going away, Ladies and Gentlemen, they are on the march, all over the world, and Jack Murtha and Nancy Pelosi want to “Re-deploy”…….

I would imagine the worst we’d see is an OKC bombing with a more likely candidate being snipers, jihadis attacking malls with shotguns, or cab drivers running down groups of students.

That is precisely what I expect to happen. Expect a gradual ramping up of these ‘isolated incidents’ involving perpetrators whose religious background is played down by the authorities and media. If, instead of taking down several buildings and killing 3000 people on one day, the terrorists shoot a few people here and there, sabotage a school bus, a natural gas pipeline, a power substation, a water treatment plant, a subway station…. none of those acts will individually ‘rise to the level’ to justify a response in the minds of the lefties.

I doubt very highly that Iran would commence such attacks on a whim, Al-Qaeda-style. If that was ever their intent, there’s no reason they couldn’t and wouldn’t have started long ago.

What made me chuckle was the description Ahmadinejad uses of the train without brakes … which is also a good description of what something is right before the train wreck. So in is President Dinner Jacket really saying that his nuclear program is out of control?

Time is on Irans side. Everyday that passes there is less and less political will to strike them. The closer to the election, the more GWs hands will be tied. Too bad for us.

However, on the converse side of this, there is a limit to the advantage this gives Iran… time runs out on election day, it gives the next president-elect either a huge gift, or a method of showing just how inept they are when it comes to dealing with military matters.

I am sure Hillary would vote for it, before she voted against it, but then it would be to late.

Even if Iran launched some kind of in theater attack on a naval group, airfield, whatever, the U.S. would get blamed for it. The press is already hedging their bet in that direction so if it does happen they can say ‘I told you so’.
But I don’t believe they will. They know that they can wait us out. Iran will let the Lebanese and Iraqi’s be the front men while our media and our governments stand around and look stupid.

While we don’t have the gumballs to turn Tehran into glass the Israeli’s do. If her back is up against the wall she will act. Let’s hope we wake the hell up before Israel is forced into that position.

To me an attack on par with OKC would be militarily insignificant and unless it happened at a very important economic center/building/factory/power plant, the long term effects may be negligible.

Surprisingly, the UN forces seem to be making things difficult, or difficult enough, for them in southern Lebanon. So they’re regrouping a bit further north:

I don’t think it is the UN forces preventing them from operating. The answer is later in your post. Longer range missles allow Hezbollah to operate further from the border.

I was still working in NYC at the time of the first attack, and it was a day eerily similar to this one weatherwise, except that was a Friday, IIRC, and the hapless General Dinkins returned to town and put on a fireman’s hat to show he was was in charge.

The man who was POTUS at the time never bothered to show his face after that attack. Since then, and moreso since 9/11, Al Qaeda has deftly used Weapons of Mass Influence, and sadly, it seems to be working on a lot of politicans and media in this country.

Iran doesn’t necessarily have to overextend itself to strike back. It could do serious short-term damage to the U.S. economically by attacking oil and shipping interests in the Persian Gulf and Horn of Africa region.

There’s nothing of interest in HOA. There’s a closer concentration of US servicemen in Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar (Doha, I think?) and afghanistan.

Besides, short of a long range airstrike on the HOA area, I can’t see how they’d get there. Granted, if there wasn’t an active Western presence, I think they MIGHT be able to reach it, but there are too many US and Brit Naval assets in the area to successfully carry that out. (hopefully)

I’m totally with you on the Straits of Hormuz tho.

1. Straits of Hormuz & Gulf Oil shipping – persuade the West not to screw around with it’s oil supplies.

2. US assets and interests in Iraq (convenient Great Satan next door)

3. Israel (I have no idea how well hezbollah has rearmed, the publicity machine says that the hezzies are now well stocked and ready to rock, but I’d imagine reality might be a bit different)

4. US interests in the ME. (I have no idea what, Saudi, Kuwaiti and Iraqi oil platforms? Our forces in Afghanistan? Stated and unstated allies)

5. US Homeland targets. (Aside from the deranged muslim flipping out here, I don’t see too many high-profile attacks happening stateside.
