I know its a minor point but don’t let them confuse ILLEGAL ALIENS with IMMIGRANTS. They are **not** the same!

Illegal Aliens are LAWBREAKERS who are here in VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW. By definition they are NOT LAW-ABIDING. They are one of the groups who are dragging this country down and should be UNWELCOME.

Legal immigrants are law-abiding (for the most part) and have been vetted with background checks — they are what made this country great and are WELCOME.

I will vote for Tancredo, if given the chance. He is the only candidate that is doing what’s best for America.

I love bashing Democrats, but it’s comical to blame Democrats for this embarrassment. Other than a select few Republicans, it would be almost impossible to tell he difference between the two parties on illegal immigration issues.

Newton aldermen OK vote for noncitizens

By a 20-4 vote, Newton aldermen approved allowing residents who are not US citizens the right to vote in local elections.

Ted Hess-Mahan , alderman at large from Ward 3 , sponsored the measure, saying it is only fair that residents who pay taxes, send their kids to school, and own property in Newton should also be able to vote on measures that affect them. The overwhelming vote contrasts with 2005, when Hess-Mahan couldn’t drum up support for a similar proposal.

Mayor David Cohen must ask the city’s legislative delegation to file the proposal with the Legislature, which must approve it as a home-rule measure.

Hess-Mahan said Cambridge, Amherst, and Wayland are seeking similar approval.

How many Americans have to give up their dreams to pay for this jackass to go to college?

Illegal aliens who are state residents (whom these rule changes typically benefit) presumably pay state sales taxes and, perhaps indirectly as leasers, real estate taxes. But do they pay the income taxes that are the core of state education budgets? Well, not through any company that is conscientious in its hiring practices. And if your employees are flying under the radar, why deduct taxes — federal income, Social Security/Medicare, or state income? And if you are flying under the radar, why pay them?

And, oh yeah, I suspect that your dream of being a member of the prestigious Maryland House of Delegates requires U.S. citizenship.

THIS statement is infuriating for so many reasons. First of all, why isn’t it important that without legal citizenship his dreams won’t come true? THAT should be the first priority! Not his freakin’ education. Apparently, he didn’t learn enough about what it means to be a legal citizen of our country to have even a modicum of respect for our laws, OR the people of this country. If he’s like most illegal aliens who live where I do, he probably doesn’t even have insurance on the vehicle he freely drives.

But I guess since many employers don’t care about citizenship and most cities won’t enforce immigration law and since the feds don’t seem to care, what’s the point of citizenship anymore?

Truly! I mean really. What is the point of trying to become a citizen when you can so easily find sanctuary cities and government programs all designed to give you a free pass – ALL at the taxpayers expense.

When will dems and open-borders republicans wake up? When it’s too late? When all middle class Americans are paying sky-high taxes to support these lawbreakers?

I’m so fed up with it. My congressman actually cares, but he’s a lonely voice in a room full of illegal alien advocates (a.k.a. the Democrat party).

But as passed by lawmakers, the measure also left a wide loophole for a unique class of international students here on nonimmigrant visas who also graduated from Washington high schools.

They generally entered this country as exchange students or children of employment-visa holders whose parents work for large regional employers, such as Microsoft.

They have been admitted to colleges and universities across the state under any number of temporary visas issued for such purposes as business visits, education and religious work.

Seldom are they in desperate financial need, many point out.

“It seems the largest group here [at the UW] from other countries are enrolled in private high schools, often Christian schools,” said Tim Washburn, assistant vice president for enrollment services at the UW.

Seventy-five percent of the 44 program enrollees at the UW were visa holders.
