For years I have been reviled by my colleagues (people who otherwise like me) on Mondays, after the Oscars, and other such events, for not watching. I never comment and the year after we have the same one-sided conversation.

I just watched the clips above. When Mr. Gore said "My fellow Americans" I thought "wow, there was more warmth coming out of Mr. Nixon..."

Was there something else on last night besides Battlestar Galactica and dirty jobs reruns on the discovery channel?

Mary McDonald is getting tough on Galactica meanwhile edward james almost character Adama is getting wimpy.

Actually, after it was found out the the movie "Love Story" was based on Al and Tipppers love affair (you know just befor the internet thing he invented), they recast the Oscar in Gore's image. You can tell by the Oscar's stiff pose.

I was seriously drunk when Gore started making his announcement and almost threw my Harp at the screen; realized it was a joke just in time.

I thought the Fox News reporter was sagging big time, and wasn’t impressed at all.

The bimbos called actors actually seemed happy that there were so many foreigners and non-Americans nominated, even though the Oscars are supposed to award American films.

Are you sure about that? I watched a bit, Ellen Degeneres is easy to take, but there is a real retro (not in the deliberate, positive sense) to these things. I like looking at Leo as much as the next girl, but beyond that....

I didn't watch the show at all, but according to the reviews, they were awful and pretentious as ever.

They are happy that there are less Americans rewarded and they howl in protest if we say they are not patriotic.

A great analysis of these California liberals' mindset is in Victor Davis Hanson's Mexifornia.

One thing that is confusing, but not surprising: Ever article says “Gore wins Oscar” but he isn’t a producer of the film, nor is he a director. He does not get an Oscar statue with his name on it. How did “Gore” win it?

Spassvogel on February 26, 2007 at 7:05 AM

Rumor has it they are going to change the name from "Oscar" to "Big Al"

In other words who cares?

Probably Michael Moore - hasn't he won the past ten or so "best documentary" Oscars?

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned a million times, but doesn't Al Gore remind you of the bloated Orson Wells in Citizen Kane or in Touch of Evil?

I think the resemblance is so striking that I have a hard time not thinking of Wells every time I see Gore.

Occasionally, I think Gore looks like Grandpa on the Munsters, but not as often.

I used to think he was just a putz, but now he's so creepy and evil looking that he weirds me out.

Supposedly the winners aren’t known beforehand, but surely they didn’t bring Lucas, Coppola, and Spielberg together to hand an award to Paul Greengrass.

Yeah, I wondered the same thing! None the less, The Departed rocked. Loves me some Scorsese.
