It’s good we can laugh. This humor on the subject, while juvenile in origin, was ironically tasteful as opposed to the BBC’s Terrorism Awards.

We need to laugh to prevent us from crying, but do it with respect.

Am I nuts, or was there a Major Leaguer named Al Kaider? I’m wanting to say he played for the Tigers, but can’t find anything on him.

You are partially right!

Al Leiter was mentioned above by RobG. Al Leiter never played for the Detroit Tigers. He did play as a pitcher for the New York Yankees, the Florida Marlins, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the New York Mets.

There was also a great player named Al Kaline, who played for the Detroit Tigers from 1953 to 1974.

In my days as a baseball player and fan I owned an Al Kaline baseball glove.
