Pelosi phones Bush to complain about Cheney’s painfully accurate criticism

posted at 10:20 pm on February 21, 2007 by Allahpundit

He had the gall to suggest today that the Democrats slow-bleeding us into withdrawal might be something Al Qaeda would approve of. Quote:

“I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the Al Qaeda strategy,” the vice president told ABC News. “The Al Qaeda strategy is to break the will of the American people … try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit.”

In fact it’d be the Sadrists who’d win because we quit, but we needn’t quibble over details. The insinuation having been made that the left’s scary-smart redeployment plan might possibly, conceivably have adverse consequences that benefit terrorism (a charge leveled against the right by Murtha as recently as 10 days ago), Madam Speaker rushed to the phone to dial up the president. She says she couldn’t reach him, but I like to think he just didn’t take the call.

Here’s Zawahiri from his latest tape. The translation is Laura Mansfield’s:

As for the Democrats in America, I tell them:

The people chose you due to your opposition to Bush’s policy in Iraq, but it appears that you are marching with him to the same abyss, and it appears that you will take part with him in the defeat and certain failure, with God’s permission. And the American people shall discover that you are all one side of the same coin of tyranny, criminality and failure…

As I close my talk, I ask Allah to bless the lions of Iraq who broke America’s back and spoiled its plans, and are today confronting the Crusaders and their aides, the religion-traders and secularist collaborators of the Jews and callers to partisanship who deceive their Kurdish brothers by telling them that the Mujahideen are their Arab enemies. Allah suffices us against them and their slander. And I ask Allah to unite the Mujahideen – Arabs, Kurds and Turkmen – on the word of Tawheed and on Jihad in Allah’s path against their enemies, the Crusaders and Zionists. And I ask Him to bring together the hearts of the Mujahideen in Iraq on the heart of one man, lest they fail and their strength depart. And I ask Him to aid with His help and guidance the fledgling Islamic State of Iraq, and to guide its Mujahid Amir, Abu Umar al-Baghdadi (may Allah protect him), to what He loves and is pleased with, and to consolidate this state so that it unites all our Mujahid and Muslim brothers in Iraq and so that it sets up over Iraq of the Caliphate a Mujahid Islamic state which will proceed to liberate Jerusalem and take steps towards the reestablishment of the Caliphate state which the Crusaders and their helpers toppled.

She also knocked Cheney for spinning the British withdrawal as a positive development with a line I find almost inscrutable: “If it’s going so well, we’d like to withdraw our troops as well.” In the first place, she knows the situation in Basra isn’t what it is in Baghdad. In the second place, what conclusion naturally follows from what she said? Cheney’s whole point is that we can’t withdraw from Baghdad because it isn’t going well. And her point is that that’s true, it isn’t — but let’s withdraw anyway.

Here’s some gratuitous video of Blue Star Mom Deborah Johns from yesterday’s Neil Cavuto playing Cheney to Mother Sheehan’s Pelosi. She was on to plug the support-the-troops caravan being organized by Move America Forward and scheduled for next month.

She has balls to sit there and complain about Cheney. She has said HORRIBLE things about them and never taken them back. She is not fitting at all to be speaker. Democrats I think have proven how dumb they really are to allow the likes of her, murtha, and howard dean into high positions.

It’s one thing to think differently, it’s another to be treasonous and a liar.

Allahpundit, may I respectfully request, all of my sarcasim aside, that Blue Star Mom Deborah Johns receive her own thread.

I think the support she would get would overwhelm her.

Just a suggestion…….

PinkyBigglesworth on February 21, 2007 at 11:42 PM

Another example of the effect the Left, our greatest weakness, has on the interests of the United States.

Of course the Mainstream Media (MSM) will not give a patriot anywhere near the coverage a defeatist such as Sheehan will get. It does not fit into the propaganda of the Left that most components of the Mainstream Media (MSM) promote.

I agree with Blue Star Mom Deborah Johns in her assessment that the likes of Sheehan is an aid and comfort to the enemy. The enemy gages their success not on military success but on advantage given to them by the media and support by the Left.

Our enemies objectives are influence on America’s will to fight, and every effort by the Left that validates their tactics brings them closer to victory. America will not be defeated, we will walk away from victory because of the Left.

This war, and the opposition to tyrants such as Chavez, is not won or lost by concrete military or diplomatic advances, but by influence on America’s will to fight. This will to fight is influenced in a negative manner by the Left, and most components of the Mainstream Media that support them.

The Left is our biggest weakness and will not diminish in their influence until disaster strikes. Sad, but I look forward to when Americans coming to their senses, and deal with our enemies and the threats that face us in an aggressive manner, unencumbered by signifcant influence from the Left.

Perhaps after the next disaster Sedition and Treason will again be recognized as crimes, national pride will again be prominent, and the weakness and decay that the Left brings with them be ruthlessly exposed for what it is.

As for Ms. “Blinky”….

White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said Cheney “was not questioning anyone’s patriotism.”

Well then, I will…

Nancy Pelosi, Jack Murtha, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, et al… (I won’t honora you with your knick names, I am so pissed [mad])…..

I question your patriotism.

I question your intelligence.

I question your rational.

I question your psychological state.

I question your motives.

I question your ambition.

I question your desire for political power, at all cost.

I question motives.

I question your loyalty to the United States Of America.

I question “who is pulling your strings”.

I question your alliance with our enemies.

I question how you view this country and it’s citizens.

I question how you really see the military.

I question your judgement.

And last but not least, since you did take an oath to your office, and your plan of action will lead to our defeat in a time of war, I question if you are no better than a traitor.

Any questions?

Sorry, all out of “Vomit Buckets”, the game, is a foot…….

Could that woman be any uglier? And I’m not talking about just her looks.

R D on February 22, 2007 at 3:42 AM

I find it interesting that the Speaker of the House considers comments which are disagreeable to her to be ‘questioning her patriotism’. Does that not insinuate that she believes the only patriotic comments are those which follow in lockstep with her own opinions? She complains that Cheney is closing down debate by having a differing view, but how can you possibly have debate WITHOUT a differing view?

I also found her comment about the Brittish withdrawal illuminating. Apparently, she and the other Democrats don’t understand that Baghdad is not Iraq, but just one city. Which makes sense considering the MSM coverage of the ‘civil war’ going on in Iraq. I think many people beleive there actualy is a large scale war throughout all of Iraq, as opposed to just a handfull of places. Either she is lacking in knowledge of Iraq, or she’s more then willing to obfuscate the truth to further her own political ambitions. Or both.

While I understand that the Basra region is relatively quiet, it would have been much better for us if the Brits had “redeployed” their troops to Baghdad or Anbar to help us out. Miss Nancy looks younger every time she “appears.” HA should do a photo montage of her dating back 5 years.

When I am accused of “questioning their patriotism,” the implication is that the question of whether or not liberals Democrats are patriots is either underdiscussion or in doubt.

There is NO DOUBT here.

Liberal Democrats are NOT patriotic. In fact, under the definitionof treason in the Constitution, they are, in fact, traitors.

I also question their patriotism. When my alarm went off to get my little daughter off to school the local announcers-Perry & Price on KSSK were saying it was funny that the only people who claim to support the troops are the ones who really don’t. If she was complaining about something Cheney said, why call the President? Why didn’t she confront Cheney directly? I guess the Speaker doesn’t have the guts to fight her own fight and face Cheney directly, she resorts to calling the President in attempt to use the President to silence the opposition.
