Howdy folks. See-Dubya here, minding the store today while Allahpundit goes fishing.
We need to talk about the Most Ethical Congress In History. Remember this smiling fellow?
The fellow with the ninety large in cash wrapped up in tinfoil in his freezer? The fellow with the ongoing ethics investigation, a member of whose staff already pled guilty to corruption? Yeah, that’s him. Congressman William Jefferson, D-La.
Well, according to Washington Post blogger Paul Kane (and via Greg Tinti), he’s going to get a seat on the Homeland Security Committee. Which is great, because what would a foreign power do to blackmail this guy? Accuse him of corruption? He can just laugh that off! “Ha! Get in line, fellas!”
It almost makes this little tidbit about Hillary! look innocuous:
Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign reached a deal to pay a key South Carolina black leader’s consulting firm more than $200,000 just days before he agreed to endorse her run for president, it was revealed yesterday.
Even better: she appears to have beat out Obama for this consultant’s endorsement. Obama had retained him for $5,000. Darrell Jackson, the consultant–who is also a minister and a state senator–denies that his endorsement was for sale to the highest bidder.
It just happened to come immediately after Hillary crossed his company’s palm with a $210,000 contract. What a stroke of luck for Hillary!
You know, like Hillary just happened to hit the jackpot on those cattle futures. She’s still on a hot streak!

The party that wants to rob everyone blind before they give us up to the bad guys? How dare you suggest that they are not in it for “the people”.

Cold Money Trail?
Kini on February 16, 2007 at 2:18 AM
Hillary has the balls everyone thought she had. The teflon leftards think they can get away with it all, if they just point to the other party, and I’m pretty sure she will.

What the hell is Hillary! doing in politics? With skills like that she should be cleaning up on the Street.

I feel dirty.

Mmmmmmmmmm beef. I’ll take the half cow special, but yer gonna have to cut it up into small unmarked denominations.
Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent.
If you want to know what the Left is up to, simply look at what they are accusing the right of doing.

Another reason to congratulate all those who voted for “change” and voted Democrat or stayed home last election.
Here’s to you………………… [Vomit Bucket}
Will this country last the next two years????

It’ll be all right, Pinky. We always seem to muddle through.
Chanting the following mantra while you meditate will help you to relax: “Four years of Jimmah got us Reagan.” Repeat until you feel at ease.

I’m not so sure. Thank G’d, at least we HAD a Reagan to go to. The Fat Lady hasn’t sung yet, but at this point in the show, whom on the American political stage (or even waiting in the wings) impresses anyone enough to inspire such confidence? Not Rudy, not McCain, not Mitt, not Newt, not Rush, not Ann Coulter, not Savage. I don’t see anyone anywhere who honestly looks worthy.

Im gonna need more rope..
Viper1 on February 16, 2007 at 7:37 AM
Although it could be worse. We could be holding up trustworthy guys like Cold Cash Jefferson here, or (snicker) Al Franken as “leaders.”
SpartRan on February 16, 2007 at 7:40 AM
Only in America… well if you are a democrat
Wade on February 16, 2007 at 8:21 AM
Homeland Securtity? I guess he is better qualified than others. At least when he steals some information he will put in his freezer and not under a trailer.
The Democrats are at least moving in the right direction.
right2bright on February 16, 2007 at 8:33 AM
As so often is the case, Rush – the Great One, on whose broad shoulders most of the conservative commentators in America climb – sums it up best:
You simply cannot parody the Democrat party, and you cannot make this stuff up. Truth is more ridiculous than any caricature we could make up.

Fishing?
In Queens?
Good luck with that.

Louisiana deserves this man. Sorry. I guess I am racist or whatever. This is the same gentleman who commandeered a National Guard truck during Katrina to get his personal belongings out of his home.
And Louisiana relected him.
He should be in stripes and working on debris clearing under the watchful eye of Buford Pusser.

Modern liberalism will always leads to tyranny. Where everything is relative and no moral right or wrong exists unless it is connected to your feelings what are your boundaries? Preach tolerance but do not tolerate any thought that does not agree with you. The democrat party is now attempting to make the word n—– illegal. They have already made thought a crime. (hate crimes) Just look around. Do as I say not as I do. If you don’t do as I say I will pass a law to force you to. Ethics do not matter if the outcome furthers your agenda. When your agenda is only power ethics are in the way.

It’d be nice if W took the dems up on their campaign pledge and gave us the most ethical congress by prosecuting these guys.
Iblis on February 16, 2007 at 10:01 AM
Ummm… why hasn’t this guy been indicted?
Hate to say it but this has been the most INEFFECTIVE Attorney General ever (and I HATED Reno)….
This… and the 92 leak investigations which have NOT found anything… and the loss of those files…
I mean the only one on trial is Libby, and he’s not even on trial for the origional problem (and why has Plame NOT been investigated for nepotism, and just how did he get cleared for the information?)….
Time and again the left are allowed to break the law, because they don’t get prosecuted…

Will the next Vince Foster please step up.
Alden Pyle on February 16, 2007 at 11:42 AM
God help us.
NTWR on February 16, 2007 at 1:39 PM
This guy should be behind bars. I guess the money they found in his refrigerator went to pay off the “Crooked Eye Speaker of the House”.
oldelpasoan on February 16, 2007 at 7:35 PM
Ooooooooh this is Soooooo HEINOUS!
Doesn’t he realize how many hats were WASTED?
