Audio: Terry McAuliffe pressed about shady land dealings

posted at 9:24 pm on February 16, 2007 by Ian

Orlando radio talk show host Pat Campbell had the chance to interview former DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe and current failure who is now working on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Pat immediately pressed Terry, who claims to be a Catholic, but is very pro-abortion. The best part of the interview, though, was Pat trying to get to the bottom of a land deal where McAuliffe invested $100 and got back $2.45 million. Byron York writes:

In one deal, McAuliffe and the fund officials created a partnership to buy a large block of commercial real estate in Florida. McAuliffe put up $100 for the purchase, while the pension fund put up $39 million. Yet McAuliffe got a 50-percent interest in the deal; he eventually walked away with $2.45 million from his original $100 investment. In another instance, the pension fund loaned McAuliffe more than $6 million for a real-estate development, only to find that McAuliffe was unable to make payments for nearly five years. In the end, the pension fund lost some of its money, McAuliffe moved on to his next deal, and fund officials found themselves facing the Labor Department’s questions.

Blowback

Yes, but he’s a Democrat. We’ve all seen his free pass so just move along.

Incredible! Sickening, really. Tell me there’s no story behind investing $100 and getting a return of $2.45 million. I’d like to get in on that. Unfortunately, those of us who engage in legitimate investments don’t get those kinds of returns.

Rush calls him the “punk”. I figure he’s just another crooked democrap.

Zorro on February 16, 2007 at 9:31 PM

It looks like it doesn’t take much to find Terry’s Hot Buttons. Press them and listen to Terry go beserk!

My thanks to Pat Campbell for bringing a late night smile listening to Terry melt down.

Jack.

Two Americas, ours and his.

Who says the Democrats are not for Capitalism? They’re not – they are for hyper-capitalism, except not for the sheeple. The reason – when sheeple get out of poverty, surprise, surprise, they get the taste of mhhhh, well,…capitalism.

Wow and I thought Hillary was the financial genius for turning a small investment in cattle futures into a fortune. That of course is before she helped to champion legislation to prevent anybody else from doing the same thing.
But she too found out the real money is in real estate. Just ask Harry Reid.
Glad they are addressing that whole culture of corruption that exists in Washington DC.

Interesting also how he resolves the conflict between the Catholic church’s opinion on abortion and his own position in his mind. Not spiritually mind you, it’s resolved in his head. An interesting snapshot into the life of this “family values” man.

thedecider on February 16, 2007 at 9:42 PM

I remember when he was on hannity and colmes during the 2004 presidential debates .hannity was touching him on his arm to get his attention cuz he wouldnt shut up. He turned to hannity and said “get your hands off me” I thought mcawful was gonna belt hannity.

Not that I’d mind, I’m not a hannity person, but that woulda been good tv.

lorien1973 on February 16, 2007 at 9:48 PM

So the reason he gives that he stays with the Catholic faith even though he disagrees with it’s key teachings on abortion is because he believes in it’s “family values” teachings. That makes sense. I often wondered why all the other brands of christianity are so opposed family values. What a guy!

He won’t be pressed hard, and by this time next week, at latest, he won’t be pressed at all.

This particular scumbag could murder a dozen nuns and rape 20 preschoolers at high noon in Times Square, and not even get so much as a slap on the wrist.

former DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe and current failure

Does anybody else think ol’ Terry is sportin’ a hairpeice in that picture?

forged rite on February 16, 2007 at 10:10 PM

TM has always been a weasel and failure…but he’ll skate on this. We all know it.

Malpaso on February 16, 2007 at 10:27 PM

Hey, it’s not like he was offered a seat on Homeland Security or the Ways and Means commitee. Yet.

I guess “Hair Club for Men” will have to add a tagline: “…and land deal cheatin’ wienies too.”

thedecider on February 16, 2007 at 10:48 PM

Didn’t he make a gazillion dollars with global crossing stock right before it went bankrupt? Why yes, yes he did.

Capitalist Infidel on February 16, 2007 at 10:52 PM

I believe in the tentacles of the Catholic church

Is that really what I heard? I listened three times…

Anyway, no news that McAuliffe is a crook. Did you think Clinton would hire an honest man for any inside post at his White House?

I love Pat Cambell’s set up:

” So you invested $100 outta your own pocket…”

perfect.

billy on February 16, 2007 at 11:05 PM

I’m sure Dan Rather is … all over this. Fake documents and all.

One Angry Christian on February 17, 2007 at 12:44 AM

When I look at Terry McAuliffe…..well, I’m gonna paraphrase a line from Greta when she was talking about Howard K Stern…

“When I look at that guy, my creep-O-meter goes crazy!”

csdeven on February 17, 2007 at 12:56 AM

I thought Pat’s interview there was annoying. I don’t like Terry McAuliffe, but these ambush type interviews really irritate me. Like your gonna get anything out of the guy…

DaveS on February 17, 2007 at 1:03 AM

Heh…..”Current failure”

I do love seeing(or, in this case, hearing) a worm on the hook…..

Lonevoice on February 17, 2007 at 1:04 AM

So the Gloabal Crossing *CROOK* is still up to his old tricks? WHY ISN’T HE IN JAIL?

BTW? Anybody seen any of our liberal pissant trolls commenting on this? I wonder why not?

georgej on February 17, 2007 at 2:36 AM

Let’s see. Shrillary, Pelosi, Murtha, McAuliffe, William ‘Cold Hard Cash’ Jefferson, Edwards. . .Are there any Democrats in leadership that aren’t crooked?

Wolfman on February 17, 2007 at 2:46 AM

Punk… your time is coming….

PinkyBigglesworth on February 17, 2007 at 3:13 AM

And don’t forget, he so graciously “loaned” Hitlery and Slick Willie the money to pay for their little love nest to establish her residency in NY so she could run for the Senate. Has that ever been paid back? Hmmm?

Who says the Democrats are not for Capitalism?

That’s not capitalism…that’s money laundering.

James on February 17, 2007 at 8:16 AM

I can see the Hillary commodities deal and this deal alongside each other in an attack ad. And I can see the byline of Obama or Edwards.

Anil Petra on February 17, 2007 at 9:28 AM

Would you buy a used car from this guy?

Wade on February 17, 2007 at 10:11 AM

“Pat, I’m embarrassed for you to admit that you don’t know this is how business is done, here on your own radio show. But, yeah, business is done this way every day. I get things done.”

You simply have to imagine the font size on the front page, above the fold NY Times and WaPo matching headlines, if this was a conservative. And yet, I’ve never heard this story before. Stunning.

Jaibones on February 17, 2007 at 12:20 PM

Hey, he’s a friend of the Clintons right? He’s got to be crooked. He loaned them the money to buy their NY house. I wonder if they ever paid him back?

Griz on February 17, 2007 at 2:02 PM

Oe word comes to mind when I see or hear Terry McAuiffe.

… Barf . .

Texyank on February 17, 2007 at 11:39 PM

Would you buy a used car from this guy?

I hear he has reasonable financing. Invest 100.00 now and the bluebook value triples every year you own the car. That’s guaranteed by the DNC Retirement Fund.

Do you think the Clinton’s needed any money after running the Cocaine operation out of Mena, AK. The loan was a front to allow them perpetuate the myth of bankruptcy when the Paul Jones judgement came down.
