Bobber: Make sure you have Java scripts turned on and that you have the latest version of Flash Player. <a href="http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=57669&topic=10563" rel="nofollow">This page</a> might help. I had similar trouble recently and had to uninstall and reinstall Flash Player.

Re: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_of_arc" rel="nofollow">Joan of Arc</a>. She was about 12 or 13 when she started receiving visions but she was 16 or 17 at the time of the battle of Orleans. (She doesn't seem to have known her own birthdate so ages are necessarily approximate.)

<blockquote>1) A 13 year old girl was leading them (Joan of Arc)</blockquote>

I hate to kill your joke, but I'm pretty sure she was seventeen. On the other hand, I believe the French did later burn her at the stake for witchcraft, so it seems possible that even they knew how unnatural it was that someone could lead them to victory.

For some reason I can't get the video to come up. This happens often, usually with ones I really want to see. Any ideas?

Bomb Doctors' comments were about effective as the mud to mud missile.
Please there are plenty of bloggers here that have served, and maybe a few that have lost some loved ones, don't denegrate their service, enjoy the humor or turn the page.

And thanks for your service, it must have been miserable.

I served. 1985-2006

And with that "absolute moral authority card" waving around I'll just say this (and it's an attempt at humor):

Three times have the French won anything:
1) A 13 year old girl was leading them (Joan of Arc)
2) A Corsican was leading them (Napoleon)
3) They were fighting themselves (French Revolution)

Did you hear about the French garrison that surrendered?

Yeah, well seems it was located right next to Euro-Disney and late one night Euro-Disney was celebrating something and fired off a bunch of fireworks and the garrison thought it was being attacked and came running out of their base and surrendered to Euro-Disney!

On a serious note, I had a buddy that was in France on vacation a few years ago (he was a Army Reservist and a NY State Trooper). He ran into a bunch of French cops and they took him back to their station. When he walked in he saw a huge poster of the WTC and a large American flag on the wall.

I've worked with the French military (I have French jumpwings) and can say for the most part they are not like their weak-minded, liberal civilians. I don't recall ever working with the Canadians so I couldn't say.

How do we know that they are NOT Cajun French troops -- like trying to take back New Orleans after Katrina?

Like Jaibones says, Wyle E. Coyote (super genius) would be proud.

BD, come on. We know that bad accidents happen and that this is serious stuff. But how can you not laugh at that; it's so damned funny.

Whoever called the Acme anti-missile, some propellant required just nailed. Wile E. Coyote in camo. I'm still laughing...

<blockquote> “Don’t be rude”? I’d bet I’m one of the few on this thread that actually served. I wasn’t bashing the soldiers in the video, I was bashing the idiots bashing them.

And you question my service? I have nothing to prove to you. There are many here, including the owner who know who and what I am.

KMA.

Again, I am reminded why posting here is such a waste of time.

That of which I am not certain, I always question.

I do not know you. so I question all you purport to be ESPECIALLY when it conflicts with my existing knowledgebase.

Now I mean no offense by this, it is simply that which must be done when faced with the nature of the internet.

As you say, I do not know "Who and what you are" only that you seem to be insulting people who found the video amusing.

And then you chose to tell me to Kiss your arse.

A most impressive display of maturity and oratory skill.

Congratulations in proving me wrong in my request to cease being rude.

<blockquote>Yeah, watch them run on the same video. I may be a “puffed-up clown” but you are an ignorant moron who hasn’t a clue of the dangers of ordnance.

Bomb Doctor,

Of course UXO's are dangerous, no one is saying otherwise.

In the video, it appears everyone escaped with no harm done.

Since no harm was done people tend to bleed off stress with humor. (Think back to some comments made by your peers after a successful but stressful UXO disposal).

If you have some "inside" knowledge about the video where people were injured/killed please let us know and I bet you any comments on this thread would turn to sympathy and any jokes would cease.

Until that time laugh a bit.

Well move on and stop wasting your time here, Jacka$$. First, let me break this down. It's not that they're French soldiers it's that they are Frogs period. I lived in Germany (one hour from the Frog border) and I have been France more times than I care to remember. Every time I had the misfortune of crossing the border, the "average" Frog never missed an opportunity to be a jerk. They're rude, obnoxious, lazy gits. That's a fact.

<blockquote> I find that hard to believe if you don’t understand the “gallows humor” that comes from being exposed to dangerous situations.

I have said before "only 3 F-15’s I worked on crashed."

<blockquote> I wasn’t bashing the soldiers in the video, I was bashing the idiots bashing them.

Bomb Doctor on February 14, 2007 at 8:55 PM </blockquote>

I don't think anyone was bashing the soldiers in the video, instead they were laughing at the stereotype that the French are "cheese eating surrender monkeys."

While I am not up to speed on mud-to-mud missiles, I laughed at the video, even though it looked like it was a malfunction of the missile not the soldiers involved. In fact to the soldiers credit they ran like hell when they saw what happened.

While I am not up to speed on mud-to-mud missiles, I laughed at the video, even though it looked like it was a malfunction of the missile not the soldiers involved. In fact to the soldiers credit they ran like hell when they saw what happened.

<blockquote>As for your claim of “having served” with soldiers, I find that hard to believe if you don’t understand the “gallows humor” that comes from being exposed to dangerous situations.</blockquote>"Don't be rude"? I'd bet I'm one of the few on this thread that actually served. I wasn't bashing the soldiers in the video, I was bashing the idiots bashing them.

And you question my service? I have nothing to prove to you. There are many here, including the owner who know who and what I am.

KMA.

Again, I am reminded why posting here is such a waste of time.

<blockquote>BTW, it’s not funny when an anti-tank missile misfires. It comes out of the tube mostly armed and can detonate on the self-destruct command.

Funny how you idiots will laugh at people who serve their nation and not at who funds their weapons.

Most of you posting on this subject are pathetic.

Oh come now don't be rude.

Some of my younger siblings are Army Engineers/EOD and their stories would have anyone rolling with laughter.

Now such tales aren't funny if someone gets hurt,

OBVIOUSLY.

But when those involved come out unscathed, they're hilarious.

That is what we call "Using humor to deal with a terrifying situation."

Whenever someone I know gets back from a deployment, and you ask how the deployment went, the first stories anyone tells you are the funny ones.

They usually start out with "Well, one time...." and end with laughter.

So don't be rude. after all, Laughter is truly the best medicine.

I had a French teacher (from France) in college tell me that the Canadians don't speak "French", they speak "Gutter French". This is French being spoken.

They probably spent millions of Euros inventing a weapon that gives you an excuse to run like hell.

omegaram, USA is not despised in Canada. It is despised by the the sphere around the LPC. Many, many Canadians respect and admire the USA. Remember that there are these friends in Canada who love liberty every bit as much as their American neighbors.
