Dennis Miller got out of B of A and went to Wells Fargo...he, and others, better check again:

Despite Bank of America's compelling interest in Latino markets, it was arch-rival Wells Fargo that kicked off the competition in 2001, when it became the first U.S. bank to accept identification cards from Mexican consulates to open an account.
Since then, Wells has opened more than 1 million accounts for Mexicans using the consular card. It also accepts Guatemalan, Argentine and Colombian identity cards. The assumption is that most immigrants using the cards to identify themselves are here illegally, Wells Fargo spokeswoman Trigg said, but the bank doesn't ask

I have a Bank of America account. Frankly this doesn't surprise me, I've seen the signs of this coming for a long time. None of the tellers in my home bank has English as their first language. All of their fliers are in Spanish too. I'd like to cancel my account, but I have no other bank near me at school. Anyone have a good bank that is in both PA and MA?

Banking On Illegal Immigrants...

The financial services industry is fiercely competitive.
And it appears that in order to keep up with Wells Fargo, rival Bank of America is upping the ante to cater to it’s valued customers: illegal immigrants.
Viva los dineros!

Oh, and as for the original topic, I don't have a B of A account to cancel, otherwise I would ... but they can be sure that they won't ever get any future business from me as long as they maintain this policy (as well as their Boy Scouts policy).

What confounds me is how he is somehow seen as “strong on terror”. How so? He performed wonderfully post 9/11, but how does that equate to strong on terror? Because he talks a good game?

honora,

I couldn’t agree more! I don’t get it either.

I think some people may simply be assuming he'd be good on that issue. I myself have been guilty of doing so in the past, but after asking the question "why?", I couldn't give an answer that provides a solid basis for Rudy's "strong on terror" bonafides. He might be after all, but I don't think we've been given enough info on that yet, nor do I think he's distinguished himself from other candidtates in the Republican field on that issue. Rudy gets a lot of mileage off of his handling of 9/11 in NYC (and to be fair, he did an outstanding job of it), but that doesn't necessarily translate in the ability to prosecute a war overseas.

Bank of America also refuses to provide funds for the Boy Scouts of America because of their stance on Gays. In addition, no one should feel safe with their funds in BofA's network because they have major problems keeping their networks and ATM's secure. Remember SQL Slammer? BofA's ATM's went on the blink because they were directly connected to the internet somewhere within their network.

DM. Totally love this guy. I'd love to see him get involved with the Rush TV prg.

Re: B of <strike>A</strike> M. Let's not be too harsh. Plenty of major national banks are pandering to the illegal business. Wells Fargo Bank started using the Matricula Consular card 2001 to allow non US citizens to open banking accounts. There is plenty of blame to go around.

RE: Rudy on abortion.
Abortion is a huge issue for me. Even beyond my personal beliefs think about this.

How many Einstein's, Mozart's, Shakespeare's, Roosevelt's (Teddy), Gretzky's, Jordan's, Washington's, doctors, inventors, friends, soul mates and family have we lost? Too bad the researcher that cured cancer in the future got aborted 10 years ago.

How about these thoughts. How many future tax payers have we lost? How about a tax penalty each year for having an abortion since you are depriving us of a future tax payer. This is only fair since it's a choice not a baby.

Gun control. See 02/14/07 VENT.

I will give Rudy this........He's a leader. Rudy vs any Demo. Rudy gets my vote.

I don’t understand I guess. Is Rudy not pro gun control? Pro abortion and for Amnesty?

Altura Ct. on February 15, 2007 at 9:52 AM

And pro gay rights. What confounds me is how he is somehow seen as "strong on terror". How so? He performed wonderfully post 9/11, but how does that equate to strong on terror? Because he talks a good game?

Good grief, and I thought the Democrats were grasping at straws with Obama.

Judges?

We don't need no stinkin' judges.

Let's remember this folks: The major liberal voting block of the SCOTUS that is responsible for keeping abortion at the status quo for the last 20 years were appointed by the Gipper himself.

We need the Constitution. We don't need judges. Hypothetical - by a vote of 5-4 SCOTUS rules that the right to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and security in ones person and possessions is not protected by the Constitution. Further, the Court finds in favor of a defendant, found guilty by the court of appeals of murder, ruling that he is entitled to perform the act of taking another's life IF the act will further or advance or enhance his own life.

Question - what would we do? Hey, the SCOTUS is the law, right? Start a killin' baby!

Well, no. There's a provision called Checks and Balances and it doesn't just apply to fighting between the Hill and the WH or to the SCOTUS striking down any good legislation they whimsically see fit. There's Impeachment, and it would be high time to do it if those 5 ruled that way.

40 million dead babies later, it's time for some impeachment. We don't need judges. We need titanium-spined leaders on the Hill and in the WH that will say, look SCOTUS - stop the killing or your goose is cooked.

Six years of solid GOP control of both Legislative and Executive branches and all they can accomplish is barely banning partial birth abortion? Pardon me if I expected more from the party with the anit-abortion plank in its platform.

We need real leadership.

really don’t get the abortion issue myself. Rudy said he would nominate judges in the mold of Scalia, Alito, and Roberts to the Supreme Court. Uh, the REAL people whose opinion on abortion matters …

I don't know how many times I need to explain this to people. I want you to imagine Rudy being in favor of bringing the slavery of African Americans back. Or let's say he thinks the homeless should be euthanized. They are a burden after all. But then when questioned about it, he says "Don't worry about it. I would support Judges that would never support killing the homeless or bringing back slavery." So that would be fine with you???? Are you getting my point here? Some things tell us who the person is. I would think that a candidate who thinks killing the homeless is a good thing MIGHT not be the person you want as President no matter what judges he promises to appoint. Am I right? Well, that is the way I feel about abortion (and many others do as well.) Abortion is such a horror that we have become blind to, I want someone who UNDERSTANDS this horror, no matter what society allows.

When considering Rudy as President, remember this: President Bush is against abortion yet abortion is still legal. As President, there is not a lot you can do about abortion.

I think Rudy would make a good candidate and, if elected, could be a great president.
