I can understand some of the derogatory names such as “christofascist” and “chrisianist” but what is “godbag” supposed to mean?

Capitalist Infidel on February 13, 2007 at 8:52 AM

OK I can’t watch this yet, while I’m at work. But damn, that screen shot made me laugh out loud. I can hardly wait till break time to take a look at it.

vcferlita on February 13, 2007 at 8:53 AM

How did you get Algore to do the Edwards voice over? Brilliant!!

roninacreage on February 13, 2007 at 9:03 AM

I think “godbag” mockingly implies that you are “filled with the Holy Spirit”. Kinda like “windbag”. NOw anyone have any ideas how long it will be before the other one is gone? I never like that my little pony stuff, but I am beginning to see its merits now.

freakagriep on February 13, 2007 at 9:10 AM

OUTSTANDING VENT!

Edwards is full of crap! Edwards WILL tolerate what those two broom jockies will say because he is DESPARATE for votes from those who think like Marcotte and McEwan. Michelle explained this quite well on O’Reilly’s program.

Edwards will TOLERATE ANYTHING so that he can be elected.

He mentions the need for discipline. Yes, the discipline to scrape the bottom of the barrel for success.

NOTICE HOW THEY DO NOT CRITICIZE ANY OTHER RELIGIONS? NOTICE HOW THEY SAY NOTHING AGAINST….ISLAMO-NAZIS?

Yes, my fellow and sister commentors….this is just another example of the behavior of….TOILET BOWL WATER DRINKERS.

The False Dervish on February 13, 2007 at 9:10 AM

Eh, glad she’s gone.

As much fun as it was to watch her slime her own party with her vile vocal excretions, I think we’re all better off not having to deal with her.

wearyman on February 13, 2007 at 9:20 AM

Seems Edwards own campaign was “hoisted on his own petard” soon after launch revealing the anti Christian socialist views of his followers and likely of the man himself.

Buzzy on February 13, 2007 at 9:28 AM

Now that she has some free time, maybe she should get a makeover or something. When will the auditions for the Swan be held?

Okay… this Vent kinda creeps me out a little bit.

I just about spewed coffee all over my iBook due to the screen shot alone. I haven’t even watched the video and I already know this will be a good one. >.

DakRoland on February 13, 2007 at 9:51 AM

Okay…. The “Clutch Cargo”/”Space Angel” lips thing with Edwards is just plain Creepy!

Excellent voice-over work and background music, though.

Jack.

Jack Deth on February 13, 2007 at 10:08 AM

Methinks Godbag is a play on the D-bag insult.

Alden Pyle on February 13, 2007 at 10:11 AM

For they know not what they do? Or, do they…

NRA4Freedom on February 13, 2007 at 10:13 AM

So the message from Edwards is it’s OK to hate Christians, just don’t be so filthy about saying it.

Jack:

This process is known as Synchro-Vox! Nice comparison to Space Angel and his crew Taurus and Crystal as they patrolled the universe in their spacecraft the Starduster for the Earth Bureau of Investigation. Their satellite HQ was the Evening Star.

In Edwards’ case, his HQ is the Evening Lib.

The False Dervish on February 13, 2007 at 10:30 AM

what was up with the my little pony thing? that was creepy!

Defector01 on February 13, 2007 at 10:35 AM

Damn, folks YOU HAVE OUT. DONE. YOURSELVES.

I especially dig the new booger broom on the Silky Pony.

So he’s growing a mane on his lips now, is he???

Y’alls new VENTS need to come with an “EMPTY BLADDER FIRST” warning label—you godbags, you.

That’s what I was thinking too. Windbag would be too tame.

Candy Slice on February 13, 2007 at 10:43 AM

The background music makes the video. I’m sure inside Amanda, there is a sweet little girl that longs to play with “My Little Ponies.”

She is so misunderstood.

HAHAHAHAHA!! Great vent Michelle!

Godbag

OK, now will someone explain to me why edwards is called silky pony?

csdeven on February 13, 2007 at 10:56 AM

First, comments I have previously made about Amanda, and an update:

Amanda graduated in the same high school class as my son and in fact was the girl friend of his best friend so I saw I fair amount of her. Three things to me stand out: she was exhibitionistic by nature, she had nothing but contempt for the other students in general although half were Hispanic and most were the “salt of the earth” types she claims she want to promote politically, and although being intelligent, she was not nearly as smart as she thought she was.

At the senior prom, she dressed up as a transvestite witch a la Rocky Horror Picture Show. She failed to get much of a reaction because no one had seen the movie and few would have appreciated the movie if they had. She thereupon lectured to the gathering there (there were 70 graduates total that year) what her costume represented and how important the movie is as a cultural event. When the gathering still “didn’t get it,” she sulked for the remainder of the prom. She attracted enough attention to get a scholarship to St. Edwards, a decent Catholic college in Austin. I’m sure it now regrets this.

As is so common with fairly intelligent people who overestimate their intelligence, she has been attracted to an extremist ideology that neatly explains all of the world’s happenings. Her blog with her “colorful” language and over-the-top opinions has given her the attention she craves. However, she seems to be the classic example of the Peter Principle in being promoted beyond her abilities and the chickens hatched by the conflict between her high ideals and serious personality flaws are coming home to roost.

Update: the chickens have finally come home to roost. Amanda did not have the maturity for the position given to her by Amanda and flamed out. First, after originally being offered the job she should have resigned heading pandagon.com in order to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest. Second, she should have resigned from the Edwards campaign immediately following public airing of earlier embarrassing blogs in order to avoid further embarrassing Edwards. She should then have thanked Edwards for selecting her and apologized for her rantings, attributing them to immaturity, but stating this was a growing-up experience teaching her to be more temperature in future writings. Her departure in ill-grace in which she accused the evil right for her misfortunes shows she has learned nothing.

As for Edwards, Marcotte’s departure will save him much future embarrassment. In addition, her public blaming of the evil right rather than Edwards for her certainly forced departure will save him being blamed by the left wing blog fanatics. However, there is a big downside to Edwards’ handling of the case. His obvious deference to the left wing blogisphere in originally backing off from firing her has exposed him as vacillating and weak, and his statement in defense of keeping her after all has exposed him as dissembling as well. He will rue his decision to hire two lefty wingnuts in an important and public position.

Oh man, that hurt. I’ve always enjoyed the little pony theme applied to Edwards; it fits.

Nice accent Bryan..did you have to exaggerate at all? :)

Wonderfully done. I may have to switch to decaf after this, though.

austinnelly on February 13, 2007 at 11:13 AM

Absolutely hilarious! That gave me the laugh I’ve been needing to have for some time. Good job.

flutejpl on February 13, 2007 at 11:15 AM

She still doesn’t get it. When you try to access her site, (pandagon.net), you’re redirected here:

She posted a little diatribe whining about ‘spammers’ bringing her site down. Among other little gems is this (she just read the passage about stoning the adulterous woman)

I suspect, strongly, that this story is part of the reason that Christianity was so attractive to women in its early days, because this sort of random misogynist scapegoating is all too real in a patriarchy, and this story must have touched a lot of women at the time, who would be impressed with Jesus’ unwillingness to play into such misogyny.

She’ll never change. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

dalewalt on February 13, 2007 at 12:08 PM

Oh yeah, and to prove her point about the scapegoating? She referenced Iran.

dalewalt on February 13, 2007 at 12:19 PM

Hey DaleWalt:

I followed that link to MadMarcotte’s blog and the unreadable rant there at the moment. Since it’s unreadable (I mean – Jeebus – how about some sentence spacing and logical syntax, you uber-blogger?), I just scanned it, and one thing popped out.

It was the word “shan’t.” As in, I shan’t stop laughing at this breathlessly hysteric twit for many moons to come.

Here’s the thing with the word “shan’t” – it’s perhaps the single word in the entire language that most explicitly and perfectly demonstrates beyond question that someone is trying desperately to sounder smarter than they are.

It is the one word that, when I heard some anti-godbag use it, I immmediately peg them as a pseudo-intellectual cerebral lightweight desperate to validate their own self-worth.

Nobody talks like that. Nobody.

And when you hear that word, you *know* that whoever’s using it is, well, a brainless twit trying to sound educated.

It’s one of the funniest words in the language, because you can’t say it without soundling like a complete ass.

More importantly, it makes me laugh.

I shan’t forget you for posting the link. It was my entertainment for the day.

Professor Blather on February 13, 2007 at 12:21 PM

Someone needs to tell amanda no one cares about her genitals. But I shan’t be the one.

bloggless on February 13, 2007 at 12:25 PM

I sincerely hope that, despite Ms. Marcotte’s resignation from the Edwards campaign, that this will not be the last we hear of her (mockingly so) on HotAir. These Vents related to this subject – this one included – are absolute classics.

thirteen28 on February 13, 2007 at 12:26 PM

Okay, I may get in trouble here, but I have to ask:

Why exactly do liberals – particularly liberal women – work so hard to live up (or down) to the stereotypes, especially as far as what they look like, their grooming habits, etc.?

I mean, I shan’t (word of the day) belabor the obvious here, but if you put MadMarcotte in a room with 100 other normal women, and asked any American man to pick out the far left moonbat who likes to rant on about The Great Patriarcy in the Sky …. he’d pick out MadMarcotte in a heartbeat.

I’m really not trying to be superficial, I’m just curious: is it impossible to be a far left lunatic and still, I don’t know, get a decent haircut? Take care of yourself? To try to look like you aren’t frozen in time in the middle of Lilith Fair 1998, perpetually listening to your Indigo Girls CD’s while you speak truth to patriarchal power?

Just wonderin.’

Professor Blather on February 13, 2007 at 12:27 PM

Comedy gold!

Dave Shay on February 13, 2007 at 12:35 PM

Professor, I shan’t mince words here. Lib gals ususally feel that they can make a statement not only with their verbage, but also with their appearance. Nonconforming appearance, including but not limited to bralessness, unkempt bodily appearance, mannish mannerisms, unshaved pits and legs, garish make-up or no make-up at all, wild hair of different colors, multiple pierced anatomical structures, refusal to regularly clean the bodily nooks and crannies, an aversion to deodorant as well as others are the hallmark of many far left females. Their repulsive or attention getting appearance helps them to stand out in a crowd. Some people also believe it also advertises an availability for recreational sex.

bloggless on February 13, 2007 at 12:36 PM

Fair enough …. but if it’s supposed to be “non-conformist,” why do they always so predicatably conform almost exactly to what you just described?

Wouldn’t a real feminist “non-conformist” consider a shower now and then, just to set her apart from her fellow comfortable-shoe-wearing-friends?

As for that last line of your post … isn’t that sort of like how a run down house next to the railroad tracks is available for low, low monthly payments? I mean, there’s a reason it’s cheap, ya know? Cuz who in their right mind would want it?

I’m chuckling at all this, but I really don’t get it – why do they work so hard to conform so exactly to the stereotype? What exactly is wrong with looking nice?

Never mind. Every time I ask logical questions about liberals, I end up with a headache.

Professor Blather on February 13, 2007 at 12:43 PM

Lawrence on February 13, 2007 at 12:45 PM

Prof, they conform to each other because it makes them feel pretty and accepted. All girls want to feel pretty. they say things like, “ooooh, I love those work boots!” or “When you let your hair go natural like that, you remind me of a virgin forest” or “your natural pheromes smell delicious!” Ugly is pretty in femspeak. Do you get it now? BTW, I shan’t tolerate being called a liberal.

bloggless on February 13, 2007 at 12:51 PM

I’m chuckling at all this, but I really don’t get it – why do they work so hard to conform so exactly to the stereotype? What exactly is wrong with looking nice?

It’s all about power.

By embracing the anti-God, anti-male, feminist pedestal they remove themselves from the pedestal which they perceive men normally place them. It is about them deciding what pedestal to be on, rather than someone else deciding it for them.

Likewise the odd makeup and dress. It’s about them choosing what they want to look like, rather than choosing what men like them to look like.

Ironically they find that women who strive to appeal to men have more fun, and this just makes them envious and bitter.

Lawrence on February 13, 2007 at 12:52 PM

Edwards is the closest thing that the Democratic party has to an Islamic jihadist suicide bomber. His make-up people put SO MUCH hairspray on that dude that, sooner or later, he’ll be giving an interview under hot, bright studio lights — and we will all get to see him spontaneously combust. The subsequent YouTube video clips will almost certainly be more memorable and infamous than the ones that we all saw (many years ago) after the Michael Jackson/Pepsi hair-on-fire incident.

Lawrence on February 13, 2007 at 12:45 PM

Actually, they probably have quite a bit of success with their white southern Christian male counterparts. After all, you shan’t pay child support, as they’ll just get an abortion every time. They’re a sure thing for the basement-dwelling pot-smoking lefty guy who can’t afford child support.

Dave Shay on February 13, 2007 at 12:54 PM

Yeah, I thought it was pretty amusing the way she pulled out the one verse from Scripture and attempted to use that to show that Christians shouldn’t put her down.

Note to Ms. Marcotte. If you have to mis-quote someone else’s religion to make a derogatory point about them, then your not really making much of a point.

Lawrence on February 13, 2007 at 1:00 PM

Seriously?

I find that hard to believe. Quick, find me a liberal guy. I wanna know: do you libs actually like the bad hair, bad teeth, no makeup unshaven legs, Patchouli smelling speaking-truth-to-Jeebus librul womyn?

Seriously. I’ve got to know. Are there librulz sitting in their parents’ basement right now eating last weekend’s leftover pizza and drooling over Mad Marcotte’s hipster feminist hotitude?

Professor Blather on February 13, 2007 at 1:02 PM

She pulled her site down and links it to a rhetorical rant? What a baby! This is her way of getting the last word?

HA! Not on my watch! I’m gonna save that immature diatribe and shove it down her throat the minute she puts her site back up.

I can see her holding her breath until she’s blue thinking…”I show them!”.

csdeven on February 13, 2007 at 1:30 PM

Well, Ms Marcotte shan’t be the the last person to leave the Edwards campaign. The brilliant person that suggested she be hired and then rehired to appease the Netroots should be getting a pink slip shortly, especially as Ms Marcotte keeps providing new examples of unhingedness.

“fruity grin”! hahaha!

csdeven on February 13, 2007 at 2:05 PM

Sorry for the double-post from the “Potty mouth fembigot down” thread…seems that one has run its course.

Marcotte:

While loyalty played into the pushback some, the real story is that we liberals are not taking this crap any longer and we’re pushing back.

And Ms. Marcotte is gone…

If she was asked to leave, with or without a package, which we’ll never know about, then it was by a white, male, rich and assumed Christian candidate – the irony is syrupy, sweet and thick as molasses.

I like Femmebigot :)

Mad Marcotte’s hipster feminist hotitude?

Professor Blather on February 13, 2007 at 1:02 PM

Hotitude – one of the reasons I love HA, and blogs, is the vocabulary enrichment opportunity :) I shan’t give them up soon.

Jack Deth! Clutch Cargo! Right on! You must have grey hair like me to remember that show! Ah…the days of black & white TV w/rabbit ears…Rocky Jones Space Ranger, Sky King! Those were the simple days! Oh. Um. Back to the Vent. Edwards said he talked with the ladies and they said they never intended to malign anyone? Bull. Once you put something in print it’s done. You can’t un-bang a bullet back to its shell casing. You can’t un-explode a stick of dynamite. Once you speak something, it’s spoken. If you didn’t mean it why did you speak it? Jesus Himself said “out of the heart the mouth speaks”. Ouch. Can’t get clearer than that can we? Like I said following a previous Vent on the “ladies”, there were days when mothers washed out little garbage mouths with soap for far less garbage! If you said “darn!” too strongly, out came the soap. And that was mostly for boys. Little girls back then wouldn’t even think those words. Or maybe my memory is just clouded with age…sheesh. Set the Way-Back Machine, Sherman! We’re outta here!

Edwards gets blogged down – good article on blogging and politics.

Once a campaign starts stroking checks to bloggers, they’re sharing a bed. So while the blogs remain great hunting grounds for Democratic voters, candidates must choose their online partners with great care.

I went over to the Edwards blog and argued that they needed to get rid of her, eventually identifying myself as (horrors!!) a Republican. Most of them believe that you don’t listen or talk to Republicans. I argued that Edwards should adopt a higher standard than Ms. Marcotte, and not just whine about the Republican Hate Machine(TM). In a real strange turn, some of the nutroots would start posting recipes on threads of which they disapproved — the weird blog-equivalent of trying to shout someone down.

It’s good for this type of thing to happen, because it makes many things clear for the rest of the world.

Watergate on February 13, 2007 at 5:51 PM

Very funny video. Um…just one thing though….the heads of Amanda and Melissa should be on the other ends of the ponies, under the tails. It much more accurately reflects their stature and the level of the conversation that they bring to the public square after all. I shan’t say more.

Not random. Laura Ingraham dubbed Edwards the “silky pony” for obvious reasons, and it stuck.

And I’ve had that song in my head ever since editing that show.

Bryan on February 13, 2007 at 9:39 PM

I finally had a chance to watch the vidoe – you two are having so much fun and, in turn, we do too :)

Also, clicked on the silky pony’s home page – couldn’t believe my eyes “the right and the new racism”.

Where there aren’t two Americas, let’s invent them, while we live a cushioned life on the other side of the tracks, and where there isn’t racism, let’s invent that too because it brings us votes.

Note – the racism is more about homophobia, but not to be too exact, any -phobia or -cism might bring votes.

Were it not for his super lack of judgment, heh…narcissism is never good, but it’s silky.
