Well, this war is FAST MOVING TO OUR BORDER WITH MEXICO.

Believe it.

Good clip…too bad there are so many in Washington who don’t want to hear it.

Bad news delivered by a cute anchordude still isn’t enough to keep me from wanting to put my head in an oven.

My cousin is married to a (retired) Marine who was one of our American hostages in 1979. He agitates turning Iran into a sheet of glass on those grounds alone, never mind the Barracks bombing of 1983…and on and on.

Wake up Washington…

seejanemom on February 12, 2007 at 8:31 AM

The Jimmy Carter policy worked so well the first time so let’s do it again!

Death to America!

How can you not accept that at face value?
It really is unbelievable how people don’t think the Iranian president means what he says.

VikingGoneWild on February 12, 2007 at 8:58 AM

You have to admit: Iran learned the one great lesson of battling the U.S., and they are masters at implementing it.

What’s the lesson? Simple: although you can’t defeat us directly, if you keep your attacks low-level, asymmetric, and relatively random - we won’t actually do much about it.

Al-Queda forgot the lesson, of course: 9/11 was a mistake for them, because it broke the rule that Iran is following so perfectly.

But there’s a huge problem in this, isn’t there? Because the *one* thing that was supposed to change after 9/11 was this exact paradigm. In the post-9/11 world, according to President Bush, this was done. Over. Not to be tolerated. Terrorism was itself the enemy, and any state sponsor would pay the price.

Whatever happened to that?

From 2001-2003, George Bush was nothing short of brilliant. He said and did everything right. And the one thing he made most clear was that behavior exactly like Iran’s would never be accepted again.

Whatever happened to that guy? I miss 2002 George. A lot.

Exit question: are we back to the pre-9/11 world now? Is America (and the rest of the world) determined to forget the lessons we learned?

And if so, does that mean we aren’t going to do anything about any of this - until someone is dumb enough to break the old rule again? Until Tel Aviv is a radioactive cloud?

The whole is thing is sad. History repeats, we’re watching it repeat, and our one chance to fix it is slipping away.

Iran wants us to kill off Al-Qaeda (sunni’s) in Iraq, but need to be in position to fill the power vacuum with extremist shiites. WE are fighting both factions while promoting democracy among the moderates.

The libs cannot put all that into one cohesive thought. It’s too complicated for their bleeding traitorous hearts.

csdeven on February 12, 2007 at 9:46 AM

We really need to stay out of Iran. Letting that inept governments economy implode around them will do wonders for discrediting their ideology. A showdown with us will most surely end their economy but it gives Amadinejad the scapegoat he needs. Without us to blame their ideology will be stripped naked for the world and most importantly the Middle East to see.

Theworldisnotenough on February 12, 2007 at 9:47 AM

This is a good vent.

Erick is quite correct that the career progressives, career diplomats with their “carrot and stick” approach, and the career CASTRATOS AND CASTRATAS who sing the song of appeasement while draped in flowing burkas do not want to hear the reality of the situation in dealing with the rise of Islamo-Nazi conquest.

Those nations that were once Islamic through the Islamic raiding and conquests of centuries ago are still considered to be Islamic…never to be surrendered, always to be reclaimed.

Those nations that were never Islamic must be conquored to pave the way for the Madji, to establish a Caliphate.

The Islamo-Nazis cannot find their place in the world. The world is too difficult for them when dealing with different life styles and philosophies.

Too many Muslims look up and say: “I am a devout Muslim. I pray 5 times a day. I tend to my personal business. I keep my women and daughters under control so that they don’t wander about without panties like Brittney Spears and her gal pals. So why is it that I am still surrounded by camel dung? Could it be that my government is corrupt and wants me to remain this way so that they could remain in power? No, that cannot be the answer. The local newspaper proposed such an idea last week and by the end of the day, the Army shut down that newspaper. After all, why would President Yabadabadoo order the shutdown of the paper unless the paper was wrong to print that opinion? All the other newspapers, so far, remain open because they always print things that the government deems the truth. No, it must be the fault of….THE INFIDEL, THE GREAT SHATAN AND THE LITTLE SHATAN. There way of life makes MY way of life impossible. It has to be. Besides, our govt and religious leaders do not disagree with that belief. TO JIHAD!!!!”

Thus, only through conquest, intolerance, and terrorism do the Islamo-Nazis hope to succeed to create the world in their image. And without the freedom of the press in many of their nations, many can be misguided. And with too many devotess to PC and Appeasement in our own country, the Islamo-Nazis can make great strides in their desires to the destruction of the West, and especially the distruction of America.

In my humble opinion, of course.

Bill Kristol is on Fox right now. He is commenting on Aloony-bunnyblahhhhb’s demand that the US leave Iraq. Whadda ya know….the traitorous dems of this country have a new ally in their quest to have the US lose the war in Iraq.

I believe we are precisely in that position. We should have turned Iran into a parking lot 28 years ago. We are STILL paying for Jimmah’s ineptitude. The Arabists and “realists” in the State Dept and all over Government believe we can “talk”..well what we SHOULD be doing is :LISTENING.
THEY are talking. We need to hear it.

Yet another excellent Vent. If only the MSM could would put this information out there in an unbiased and honest manner.

By the way, congrats to Hot Air and Robert Spencer! McCullogh (Townhall.com) linked to last week’s JihadWatch Vent in today’s column. WTG!

Buck Turgidson on February 12, 2007 at 11:38 AM

Now for the Good News: The direct involvement of more and more Iranian personnel would indicate that their proxies cannot do what is wanted without being directly micromanaged by the (Persian) empire itself.
Point Two: The ONLY source of logistical support these Mad Mullahs have anymore is the sale of crude oil. It seems that a significant portion of their refined products have to be imported. And their sole way of keeping the masses at least somewhat pacified is cheap gasoline and other subsidies of consumer goods.
THEREFORE: Blockade them. Allow nothing in and nothing out until they clean up their act. Note that I did not say “sanctions”, I said B-L-O-C-K-A-D-E. That, along with seizure of their hard currency assets (already underway) promises to institute a regime change without a messy occupation on our part.
Of course, the blockading force also needs to be cocked and UNlocked just in case their nuclear program is just advanced enough for them to try Islamic Gotterdamerung. This approach is not risk-free but does take advantage of rather heavy odds.

Oilpatcher on February 12, 2007 at 11:40 AM

By the way, I note that Helen Caldicott has just come out of the shadows stating that regime change in Iran requires nuclear war that will destroy all life on Earth. Last time this silly slitch was heard from it was about Reagan’s approaching success in eliminating the USSR from the affairs of man.
Similar voices are joining with hers, even calling for a collapse of the US dollar to prevent the disaster of an eliminated muulahocracy.
All contrary indicators ssre GO!.

Forget the Carrots — use the sticks.

The sooner we strike Iran, the better. For the world, for the United States, and for the middle east.

That’s the problem with the “realists” though - they are all carrot and no stick - and no clue as to why dialogue under such circumstances fails every time.

Great Vent! Excellent reporting and commentary.

Standing up to Iran an aggressive manner is the obvious tactic that is in the intersts of the United States. The problem is the Left and their influence in our political process.

The Left is more interested in gaining partisan politcial advantage than supporting policies that are in the best interest of the United States. They would rather see an American defeat in any form rather than see those to their right gain any influence or power. They are myopic in their views and do not understand the nature of the world we live in.

We are not the nation of our forefathers becuase of the Left. This situation will not change until we suffer major attack, I believe 2. Only then will the Left loose influence and America will then support it’s interests, for a while.

The problem is not Iran, it is the subversion from within, the Left. Without national unity, nationalism, we are in a loosing situation no matter what conflict we are drawn into because of our democratic process.

In short, problems such as Iran will always be there. The issue is how we deal with them. The problem is the Left, the subversion from within, that restricts our ability to respond effectively to threats we face in a world that the Left clearly does not understand.

Glenn Beck is taking heat for suggesting we take on Islam.

ctmom on February 12, 2007 at 1:13 PM

We can’t attack Iran.

The not-so-reality-based community out there has largely invalidated the concept of preventive war. It creates a logical paradox: if we preemptively attack and prevent millions of future deaths - we can’t *prove* that we prevented anything, thus the intellectually dishonest left will focus only on the conflict at hand, rather than on the future harm prevented.

See, for example, Iraq. For a change, we did something. But because we did something, we don’t get to take the obvious moral high road that can be grabbed if we wait until after the worst happens.

Let’s be honest: if the U.S. and the U.K. had worked “unilaterally” (using it in the wrong but popular liberal sense of the word) and attacked Germany in 1936, liberals would have taken to the streets … and they’d still be calling Roosevelt a fascist war criminal to this day.

9/11 wasn’t enough. Preventive war still isn’t politically expedient - no matter how many millions it might save.

It’s simply easier to wait until we’re hit first, then hit back. Once Jerusalem is nuked, liberals will fall strangely silent. I promise. They always do, when they’re - again - proven wrong. Too bad innocents always suffer because we have to wait to act.

So here’s a novel suggestion: since we can’t attack Iran because of the politics, why not be upfront and straight-forward about all of the above?

Go to the U.N. and present the facts. Announce straight-up that we think military invasion is a necessary option, that nations like Iran and Syria will, sooner or later, cause massive conflict, if we don’t do something.

And then announce: “But this time, we’re not doing anything. We just want to go on record that we would have stopped it, if you would have let us.”

And leave it at that. Just put the ball in their court.

Maybe, just maybe, if we made this clear ahead of time - and then just let the worst happen - next time around, people might listen.

Professor Blather on February 12, 2007 at 1:29 PM

If only, my good Professor, if only…

But they won’t listen, just like the League of Nations didn’t listen to Haile Selassie; or if they pay attention, they won’t do it for long.

True enough, libs fall silent for a while when reality hits and we’re attacked. The silence, however, isn’t an indication of any kind of serious introspection leading to epiphany but rather of calculation - they’re only quiet while they’re working up the next set of talking points, which are typically variations of the following:

- Citing the supposedly insurmountable difficulties inherent in doing anything about what happened;

- Stressing the need to “understand” just why it is that whoever attacked us got to be so mad at us, so as to “open a dialogue”;

- Lecturing about how this is all just “blowback” for America’s past misdeeds going all the way back to the Pilgrims;

- Hand-wringing about how we’ll become “even more hated in the world” if we don’t just lie down and take it;

- Indulging in paranoid or delusional conspiracy-mongering to the effect that we either did it to ourselves to start a war, or the Israelis did it so we’d go to war with whomever it is they want to “frame.”

I once thought that 9/11 would be sufficient to get the Left to STFU, and it did … for about six weeks.

After that, I thought that perhaps another major incident of terrorism against America might be what it’d take to get libs to realize that we have real enemies, enemies with agendas all their own, and who are acting on those agendas instead of “reacting” to whatever nefarious things that “BushCo” or the “Neocons” or the “Zionists” are supposedly up to.

But now … I really don’t think that anything can penetrate the alternate reality that they live in. Iran murders Americans … “It’s just George Bush trying to lie us into another war to try to shore up his sagging poll numbers.” New York City goes up in smoke … “Serves us right for our unquestioning support of Israel.” Tel Aviv goes up in smoke … “Try hard not to celebrate, at least in public.”

I don’t know what me, a lowley commenter on Hotair.com can do. But, I suggest a re-wroding of the war in Iraq to the War Against Iran in Iraq. It makes more sense.

Say it with me, The War Against Iran in Iraq. Repeat a few times and keep it that way.

End of transmission.

The sound seems mixed… ‘wrong’. Like the vocal track and the ‘background’ music track got switched, which is making it a bit of a strain. From the looks of it, I seem to be the only one having this problem, but worth mentioning nonetheless

Sigh.

Yeah.

I wonder if anything at all would wake them up?

I really don’t know what’s going to happen the next time there’s a large scale (think WWII) conflict. And you know it’s coming, sooner or later.

I don’t know if this generation is capable of meeting that kind of challenge.
