AP alters story on Obama’s links to Islam

Zombie follows up on LGF’s post from yesterday by sending this along. Follow the bouncing lede:

The first shows the article as of early this morning; the second shows how the same article’s opening paragraph appears now. Is this another case of AP whitewash being applied to a story in which Islam figures prominently? Nah, probably not. I think it’s a simple case of them having made a mistake and then trying to slip a correction in under the radar. According to Obama’s communications director, he’s never been a Muslim. Nor is there anything quoted in either AP article to suggest that he admitted to having been raised Muslim during their interview with him. I think the first lede’s a good old-fashioned misstatement of fact. But rather than admit their error and correct the record formally, the AP decided to paint over it. Which, pathetically, is fully consistent with their Statement of News Values and Principles.
Great catch by Zombie on the alteration, though.

So does anyone have a link to the audio of this statement?

For the record, he’s no less of a big-government socialist, whichever religion he’s failing to be faithful to.
I would put some trust in any man who can plainly say that he is committed to the laws and values of this nation, and the values of his faith, and finds no conflict between the two. In comparison, the vast majority of politicians prefer to say something like “I don’t let my faith determine my policies”, which to me says they either have no real faith, or they’ve tossed it out the window for expediency’s sake. Those I have no trust for.

We’re officially in Bizzaro World.
5 years after 9/11 and while we’re engaged in a GWOT with Islamic jihadists, an unqualified nobody who may or may not be an apostate Muslim, and who has the name Hussein Obama is ordained by the Leftist Media as our next Leader.
All the while the same MSM propagandizes about the dangers of Global Warming while the Northern tier of the U.S. is in a deep freeze and experiencing life threatening record amounts of snowfall.
Throw in their coverage of the Iraq War, the Libby trial, open borders, BP agents. etc., etc., etc.
I mean WTF!
These intellectual midgets are literally beneath contempt. For my money, the Russerts and Olbermanns and their brethren are lower on the food chain than pond scum.
So screw them. I hope they ultimately receive what they deserve.
Meanwhile I subscribe to the theory that “Living well is the best revenge.”

AP sure does like to alter stuff these days. There’s currently two stories about AP alterations on HotAir’s front page, not to mention the overhanging stench from Jamil-gate.
Is there any reason I should react with something less than doubth to an AP story these days?

Freelancer… but to what extent do you expect politicians to allow their faith to determine their policies?

Well that leaves Islam OUT. The government of islam and it’s follwers, muslims can NOT be compatible w/ democracy.
The AP reminds me of that old 3 day ‘buyers remorse’ law where you could change your mind up to three of days after the sale( ONLY solicited sales) and the AP seems to have grabbed a hold of this.
BUT, has this been standard procedure in the AP for years and only now we’ve become aware because of the speed of the internet? I’m not so worried about this one today as I am of the scores or even thousands of re-writes that the AP has deceived us with in the past. And with two (?) in the past week, how many more to come. Wording is so powerful, at war time , election time, any time… where does this end and WHO has the power to change it to their liking- or political position.

Being that the Associated Press wrote these articles, we have no idea what Obama actually said. But if he actually said he: “does not think voters have a litmus test on religion” ….. he would be dead wrong about that.

Gods, Guns, and Children. That’s been the mainstay of election campaigns since this country was founded. What is your position on religion? What is your position on defense? What is your position on education? What is your position on foreign and domestic affairs concerning religion, military threats, and education?
Why does it always have to be about Gods, Guns, and Children? Why is it that candidates never discuss whether or not they have a scientific background, for example? With all the hype about scientific studies proving and/or disproving one theory or another, which most candidates use today as a campaign issue, why doesn’t a candidate stand up and say something to the effect of: “My opponent never attended MIT as I have! He/She has no understanding about this important issue or the science that supports it! I have a scientific background and I fully understand the importance of this issue! A vote for me is a vote for science!”
On second thought, may God help us all if that actually becomes a campaign strategy as there is already enough hype about Gods, Guns, and Children!.
To all you election campaign managers that may read this post: Never Mind!

I think that the drive-by media is awakening to the fact that BHO is a nothing. The more they try to make him a something, the funnier it gets.

Dishonest any way you slice it.

Barack Hussein Obama IS a muslim. Is NOT a Christian. Is a liar. And is NOT to be trusted.
You mark my words. If he ever becomes POTUS, America will cease to exist as it has. He will invoke Islam the first chance he gets.
Crazy? Nope. This is coming from the chick who correctly predicted the last 6 election results.
End of discussion.

The AP changes their headlines around all the time and have for several years (that I’ve noticed). I wouldn’t assign this instance any special significance.
