Video: “Sloths”

posted at 4:40 pm on February 11, 2007 by Allahpundit

From last night’s SNL. Ace IM’d to say he thought it was funny; I agree, but I’ll bet I’m the only one here who does.

Tree-dwelling mammals performing brat metal? What’s not to like?

I saw it at Ace’s and posted it elsewhere. You’re not alone AP – it’s hilarious.

Sometimes, stupid is the best kind of funny.

Slublog on February 11, 2007 at 5:02 PM

but I’ll bet I’m the only one here who does.

You are correct sir. Very UNtertaining.

Seriously though, some of it is worth a chuckle… but I guess I just expect more out of such a world renowned show. I mean, why is it a show with a budget like that has to work so hard to get me to chuckle a bit (usually only internally anyway) once or twice a show… while idiots at their computers across the country make funnier stuff day in and day out? Again, it’s not the stupidest thing ever, but I just expect more from such a show (but at the same time, I don’t because they’ve been this pathetic for a while)

RightWinged on February 11, 2007 at 5:03 PM

I suffered through it…. not funny.

Maxx on February 11, 2007 at 5:22 PM

It was great, and the Goonies reference that didnt hit too you too hard over the head made me feel cultured.

Alex K on February 11, 2007 at 5:27 PM

The video’s been uploaded to YouTube by NBC.

Slublog on February 11, 2007 at 5:36 PM

um………..

looks like some college kid’s flash movie that he did while stoned, and thought it was the funniest thing ever written.

Kind of an uninspired rip-off of – >

The moon song is amazing.

I might have liked it when I was about three.

…..brat metal?

WTF is brat metal?! Sounded more like Hardcore, but I’m not entirely familiar with that sound.

You need to go back to Metal School.

liquidflorian on February 11, 2007 at 6:13 PM

haha…the “Rocky Road?” dude Sloth…

JetBoy on February 11, 2007 at 6:50 PM

Sloths are not real.
follow my logic.
They have three toes.
They are cartoons.
This documentary proves that.

…I thought it was funny too Allah.

Pretty funny, but am i the only one to notice that most of the comedy on television has followed the same premise for about 20 years now? The premise being normal people reacting in a deadpan manner to strange, unusual or controversial things.

forged rite on February 11, 2007 at 7:28 PM

That was good. I think it could be a preview of the entertainment at the Democrat Nat’l Convention…

Zorro on February 11, 2007 at 7:42 PM

Hilarious. But then again, I love Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

SouthernDem on February 11, 2007 at 7:50 PM

Ditto.

Zorro on February 11, 2007 at 7:42 PM

nah. You need a breakdancing Imam for that.

Guardian on February 11, 2007 at 7:53 PM

Insult has replaced humor in modern comedy. Jon Stewart is making a living of haranguing the Grown Ups who run the world for the Peter Pan crowd (never want to grow-ups).

Neo on February 11, 2007 at 7:58 PM

Funny!

Tzetzes on February 11, 2007 at 8:18 PM

“That’s not entirely accurate”. Thanks, that was great.

Buzzy on February 11, 2007 at 8:25 PM

Maybe someone like this guy Zorro.

Guardian on February 11, 2007 at 8:33 PM

This owns those sloths:

The only slightly funny thing about it was the last line.

Then again, except for a handful of sketches, I think SNL has been totally lame since Belushi and Aykroyd left. Any random Frantics show is funnier.

Yes, I’m a geezer. Why do you ask? And get the hell off my lawn, you punk kids!

JimC on February 11, 2007 at 10:09 PM

You think you all know about Sloths?

Well let me tell you, you all don’t know SQUAT about sloths!!!

I know sloths. I’ve seen ‘em. Face to face. In person. In the wild. Up close and personal. I’ve looked into their eyes, and gazed into their evil souls. *shudder*

Yeah, everybody thinks of the sloth as a harmless, good natured sort. Calm and plagmatic. Cuddly, even. Like a cuddly koala bear, or some Chinese panda with a cute name like “Ling Lee the Panda prude.”

Do you think that if a sloth were a human, he’d be like that harmless hippy down by the Whole Foods Co-Op, trying to convince you that we can all “really, just get along?”

Not a chance. A sloth is more like that urine soaked vagrant, slowly muttering to himself in a wine soaked haze. Yeah, he may look harmless at a distance. But get too close to him, make the mistake of putting a friendly hand on his shoulder, and that guy will turn vicious in heart beat. He’ll cut your throat for a few coins for more booze.

That’s the nature of your typical jungle sloth, except they’re even more evil. The above mentioned vagrant may cut you just because his mind is clouded by the demon rum.

A sloth? He’ll cut your throat while stone cold sober.

All in all, a good day for humor.

I’ve been a big fan of Joel V and the rathergood team for years, the vids of their band are hilarious.

I know you weren’t talking to me, but look buddy, I know all there is to know about sloths. I’ve seen ‘em when I watch Diego with my 4 and 2 year old nieces, and when they randomly shout “sloth!” at me, which means I’m supposed to hang them upside down while they laugh and shout for everyone to look at them. So save it!

RightWinged on February 11, 2007 at 11:35 PM

Amen brother! It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who understands the menace that is the sloth lobby.

Most people just buy into the pro-sloth agenda that is pushed upon us, but you, like me, were able to discern the true evil that lies at the heart of every sloth.

An animal that is named after one of the deadly sins should be a dead giveaway as to their true, ungodly nature, but our whole society is so mixed up now days that we just can’t seem to recognize the most un-American of all animals for what it is.

First they introduced floridated water, then they pushed gangster rap into our schools, what will be next?

The worst of it? I have heard that they want to introduce sloths into zoo petting zoos.

Petting zoos? Childrens petting zoos? Filled with sloths? The mind boggles.

If this HotAir post can save one child, just one child from the clutches of the pro-sloth lobby, it will all have been worth it.

Man, I almost thought this was going to be about the dixie chicks.

LOL

How could someone not find that funny?

frankj on February 12, 2007 at 7:10 AM

Reminds me of the Rathergood style of humor (except not quirky Brit)

Hening on February 12, 2007 at 9:06 AM

frankj on February 12, 2007 at 7:10 AM

Exactly, attacking an animal who can not defend itself is wrong. You are nothing but a bunch of anti-slothics.

right2bright on February 12, 2007 at 9:47 AM

I thought it was funny. Go figure.
