And that’s the point, the Hollywierd left thinks that nobody is “actually” religious, just hypocrites that haven’t been exposed yet. And for that thought and others, Shawshank does lean left.

The warden wasn’t actually religious. He was a miserable hypocrite, and the guy who was in for shooting his wife was wrongfully convicted. As for Freeman’s character, he got released. The “criminals” were an innocent guy and a decent guy who had made amends and served his time.

Again, I wouldn’t call it overt left-wing propaganda, but hollywood loves to take subtle and not so subtle jabs at religous people and authority figures.

Heh – I don’t see it either. My point was that Gump wasn’t all that lefty and beat Shawshank for the Oscar, so Shawshank couldn’t have been all that lefty.

Well, I wasn’t actually refering to African-Irish. I was talking about black Irish, ironically. You know, because Black Irish are Irish with Spanish blood and Morgan played a character whose originally Irish in the book. Hence the joke in the film, “Why do they call you ‘Red’?” “Maybe it’s because I’m Irish.”

That didn’t come across well, either? That was a disaster of a comment.

I was wondering the same thing. Other than the fact that Shawshank has Tim Robbins in the lead role, I don’t really see it.

Add to that the fact that he doesn’t want any Black History Month and said this to Mike Wallace:

I am going to stop calling you a white man and I’m going to ask you to stop calling me a black man.

I loved his narration of March of the Penguins.

Liked the Shawshank Redemption for the acting and special human emotions/moments; never know whether I like the sound of Zihuatanejo or Ixtapa better.

It w/b funny if they’d make a video about abnoxious Boxer – wait, no need – she’s already plenty abnoxious.
