[...] Yeah, I predicted it. Didn’t you? Is Howard, arguably the truest believer in the Iraq War this side of Dick Cheney, so supportive of the Bush administration that he is ready to attack anyone who challenges the president? No, that’s not the case. In fact, Howard has in recent days gone out of his way to tell Australians that he did not intend to “generically” criticize American Democrats; rather, he clarified, he was specifically attacking Obama. “I don’t apologise for criticising Senator Obama’s observation because I thought what he said was wrong,” explained Howard.
I thought Bush looked into his soul and all was swell…No???

honora on February 12, 2007 at 1:36 PM

Mr. Bush is not a good soul reader and Mr. Putin is not a good man. He had a chance to be a great leader, in the fashion of Messrs Gorbachev/Reagan, but he blew his mise en temp, and now it's too late.

It's that which Mr. Bush wanted to see in that soul, I believe. It wasn't to be. The world w/b much better off, for multi-millions of people. The U.S. wanted to and would have given Russia all its support, deserved or not, for so little - the ability to pretend to help lead the world. They couldn't even deliver on that pretense.

So, here we are...that would have been free for the Russians, with benefits galore. Now, they're rebuilding the arms race, to pretend that they're powerful and glorious, once again at the cost of their people, and for none other than faux glory.

How so? Standard is not translatable directly as a noun is it? My French is rusty as best, but the m is "quel" and f "quelle" or perhaps I have forgotten more than I thought!

You know the left is going to be outraged about this, but whenever it’s a foreign politician who agrees with them, like Putin, then they’re totally ok with that.

Double standards.

did you know that they used to have their own aircraft carriers just 30 years ago?)

Welllllllll... Bear in mind that Melbourne was nearly 30 years old when she was decommissioned. Her replacement was then retained by the Royal Navy due to the Falklands war. There's been discussion for a while over whether to re-aquire some CVs, but they continually argue over whether to get 1 large or 2 smaller CVs.

As for Australian politics, it's a great example of the possible existence of both right and left-wing socialist policies. Thanks to Australia's immense natural wealth, we can still get away with being a quasi-nanny state most of the time..

If you think Howard hates African-Americans, you should see how much he hates African-Australians.

I've also heard he's not a big fan of wallabies. Especially the dark ones.

Australia seems to be our only common sense ally in the fight against the muslim world wide invasion.

Can someone tell me again why we shouldn't be concerned that muslims are immigrating enmasse to virtually every continent on the planet?

I can't tell if Ouabama is a slow spy, or just very lonely.
He? does try so hard. Whatever he/she/it is.

Gateway Pundit provides an interesting link about this.

Link

Almost half of the countries that compromise Coalition Forces come from Eastern Europe. Not that that's a bad thing...

"Man, imagine if Howard were running things in the US. Good times…"

Not if you are a gun owner. Howard is a "gun grabber" who makes Rudy look like a card carrying, life member of the NRA. I'm glad Mr. Howard is our ally in the GWOT, but I would rather NOT live in any country where he is the President or Prime Minister.

The Aussies are closer to the jihadist problem then we are, in that Indonesia (the most populous Islamic country) is near by. Legally "non-secular," but probably in the process of becoming another "Islamic Republic," Indonesia is a potential threat to Australia. And the Aussie government knows it.

Add into consideration the local jihadi Imams in Australia, and they really are the pointy end of the spear in the struggle.

Look at the geography and then consider the total population of Australia (~25 million) in comparison to that of Indonesia. Australia is a large continent, sparsely populated. If Indonesia (or either China or India) had sufficient sea-lift, Australia would be a prime target for invasion.

Australia really needs the United States as an ally. They demobilized and gutted their navy (did you know that they used to have their own aircraft carriers just 30 years ago?) and shrunk their army some years back, and now fear (rightfully) that an American retreat in southwestern Asia and the Indian Ocean will leave them vulnerable. Australia doesn't have nuclear weapons right now (that anybody knows about), but as an industrial power with a native source of uranium, they could develop them, given time.

If we do what the Democrats want, Australia will feel abandoned, and that would be a shame as they have been loyal allies in our asian wars for 60 years. I'd also expect them to begin a crash program to develop nukes of their own out of sheer necessity.

As for the moonbats, they love Osama, er, Obama.

Howard is doing what everyone in the western democracies should be doing: telling the Islamofascists like it is. No weakness. Full spine. We will fight to defeat you. Everywhere. Relentlessly.

It may not be a hot war, but it is a full on global war. Tossing Israel overboard won't stop it. Leaving Iraq won't stop it.

It stops with conversion, death, or dhimmitude. They've told us how many times now?

Can you nutroots not read or hear?

There is no basis for answering that question. We do not know his background on Af-am issues, but he needs to stick in Australia.
