I think they’ve improved the quality almost to the point of edibility.

I hear today’s MRE’s are much better tasting than the ones I ate, but that’s like saying a log is much softer to sleep on than a boulder.

Ah, these guys have gone soft on us. They have got it made. Unlike the old MCIs, their MREs do not have Ham and Lima Beans. (Known in my day as ham and &*^%$(*&s.)
On the other hand, those RPGs and IEDs (we called them B-40s and SFD for self-firing device) are no friendlier than they used to be.
Anyway, I reckon we will pull through all right if they do not forget the difference between their Hay Foot and their Straw Foot. I better go now, those photos are resurrecting memories. May the Good Lord Bless Them All!.

For them, those last 4 months were total luxury. A roof over their head, a kitchen, showers with running water, even if it was never hot. Never mind the daily mortar’s or RPG’s because those were nothing compared to what they dealt with outside the wire every day..
