Given the fact that most of the extermination happened long before “America” came to be, perhaps you can direct your complaints to Spain and UK. (And maybe France for good measure). Also, if you are intent on blaming the present-day country, perhaps you can extend your feelings to Canada, and other North and South American countries. Just a thought.

2. I hate it for its role in the African slave trade and for dropping atomic bombs on civilians.

Again, perhaps you should address your complaints to the UK. And also to the African countries whose chiefs willingly participated in the slave trade. As for atomic bombs, perhaps you could split the hate and aportion at least a part of it to Japan who refused to surrender and insisted on killing as many soldiers as possible.

Guys who do public proposals might be counting on crowd pressure to influence the woman’s decision. I know of one woman who later regretted accepting such a ’stunt’ proposal.

I agree with you and the others here who find public proposals to be out of kilter.

They put the woman on the spot and bring in an element of artificiality and coercion into the mix, leaving the lady feeling like she is not alone to express her intimate thoughts and feelings unless she does so before the crowd. The man already relinquished such options, turning himself into a public figure, like a politician or an actor, without the heart felt, deep, clear expression that can come with proposing marriage in a more intimate, private setting.

One of the aspects I loved about the time I proposed to my wife was not only the beautiful warm sunshine, the cool breeze, the sound of the ocean, the pleasant day itself, but the fact that we were alone, allowing an intimate, quiet, private interaction where we were not performing for anyone, save, if one wishes to split hairs, perhaps performing for each other and ourselves.

Yes, marriage proposals are best served in private.

I did a little checking on the Commie Party, USA. Among all the other hogwash of the “joys of socialism” the above statement shows the true nature of the movement. Please note the “freedom” to choose competing candidates “who respect and are guided by the concept of building socialism”. I have always known that Communism (even under the guise of Socialism) can not tolerate dissent, and even in their public statements they can’t hide it.

And I have to wonder what kind of “organizations of their choice” they will allow; something tells me my church will not be among them.

I would hope you’ve been treated well here and my best guess is you have. What’s needed is more discussion between us, not rants and accusations. Our goal should be what’s best for this country, not what’s best for any party or group. Unfortunately, I believe a system that was created to give power to the individual and not government, has been rewritten by powerful interest groups and selfish politicians.

I used to vote democratic but could not watch the constitution being rewritten any longer so I joined the side that at least made attempts from time to time to maintain it.

Anyway, I certainly hope you’ll feel welcome in voicing your opinions and concerns, as it appears you have here.
