Feelgood post of the week
posted at 9:40 pm on February 9, 2007 by Allahpundit
The perfect note on which to end another long, bloggy Friday.
No, we can’t go out like that. Let’s go out like this. Love means never having to say you’re sorry … for hyperventilating and shaking uncontrollably.

Does the guy not even see the hypocrisy in his own statements? I mean he rants about how America was stolen (or something like that) and then says we (flag-wavers) forget about the social movements and the people who “fought” to bring us those freedoms. Ummm…would those be the people who didn’t seek appeasement with the British Crown? Would those be the people who fought the British for control of America? Would those be the people who “stole” America? Mmmm…whatever! Yet again – a liberal who can’t see the hypocrisy of his own words.

Leave the country where we have it better than other places because we do things right more often than we do things wrong? Of course not — don’t be silly.
This guy is more willing to hide behind what he hates and sling mud than stand up somewhere and do something about it. What a waste.

Here’s the other statement I love. He freely admits he, nor his ilk, has contributed anything worthwhile to society but he’ll gladly leech off of it and criticize it. He might as well say, “We did nothing to sacrifice for this good-for-nothing country but I’ll gladly take part in its consumer oriented, capitalistic, free enterprise successes.”
I don’t mind him “exercising” his freedoms. But he (like many liberals) belittle those of us who exalt in America’s many more successes vs. its failures.
Right after he wrote this he logged off his laptop in his living room, turned off his LCD flatscreen, grabbed his cellphone and went outside and jumped in his gas-guzzling, CO2 emitting sportscar and sped off to the local Starbucks. I guess being a socialist in America one can only be expected to sacrifice so much till it hurts.
Welcome to America buddy!

I have to say, at least the majority (so far) of the commenters said the guy’s a jerk. (Maybe he shocked some of those lefties into momentarily reconsidering their own hatred?) But it’s telling (and unsurprising) that someone like that would feel at home at the Daily Kos.
I looked at his pathetic blog, too. He’s a f’n anarcho-syndicalist. How tragic.
But he won’t leave, because he wants to “fix” America. Never does it cross his mind that most people don’t want what he does; he just ASSumes that his version of America is perfect for everyone. LOL.
bamapachyderm on February 9, 2007 at 10:37 PM
Some of the commenters actually wrote some fairly decent rebuttals. Of course this one line sums up his entire rant:
“but I’ll sum up with this: I hate America for being a hypocritical white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.”
Ahhh … our public schools are so efficient in their iindoctrinations. Covered all the bases in one sentence.

Leaving “The Jerk” behind for a moment (which I’m admittedly loathe to do), I love how the linked Kossack squirts out a barely cogent reason not to finally make good on his own counter-patriotism and take up arms against his own country:
Apparently, the only valid reason to begrudgingly stand by the imperial, bloodthirsty, warmongering United States is to dodge its horrific, genocidal colonization and/or occupation, lest BushCo seek you out for assimilation.

I’m drunk now….time to preach:
Truman to Obama/Billary is about as wild a ride as it gets I guess. My pop was a cop. In 45, after leaving the Corps, he signed right up. Drove one of those Broderick Crawford black state trooper cars. Used to park it in the driveway and I would pretend I was chasing the bad guys.
The bakery truck used to drive thru every morning with fresh bread, cakes, and sticky glazed donuts. Believe it or not the ice cream man actually drove a conestoga wagon. He had one arm, and one eye. Pop told me he left them somewhere in the South Pacific. None of us knew where the hell he found that old wagon, but it sure made the kids come running when it turned down the road.
Mr. Tetzlaff was the local ferrier. He and his wife escaped the revolution in Russia. Every election the local polling station was in his house. He was real proud of that. Pop thought he and his wife were pretty special.
If a stranger picked me up by the collar and told me to mind my manners the rule was ‘Yes Sir’. You knew if pop found out you would have good ol’ fashion lickin to go with the humiliation. My sisters fourth grade teacher picked her up by the heels one day after hearing her swear. He dropped her in the school dumpster. Mom and pop said it served her right.
Sorry if I am rambling. Too many beers. Too many grey hairs I guess. I just don’t understand what the hell happened to the America that raised me. Pops is gone now. I miss the hell out of the ol man but I am damn sure glad he isn’t around to see what became of his country.
So ya’ll can laugh now, or whatever you call it nowadays, but I miss my country as it was. It was good, and smart, and strong. The punk in the vid isn’t from that country.

I am probably the only female (and maybe male) in America that hates these grand gestures that are videotaped. It makes me cringe. No, I don’t know them. I think these moments are extremely private and personal, that’s all.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a silly stunt … I wouldn’t like to have a completely dopey reaction like that to a proposal, and I wouldn’t like to have it videoed and publicized … but I don’t see how that leads to being so adamantly against a little “aaw” factor for a newly engaged couple … maybe it’s just me. It’s just silly and a bit narcisisstic … but it ain’t hurting me.

That first link reminded me of how worthless and useless so many people are.
And then the second one reminded me that in reality, the worthless and useless and petty and small people out there, the “screw them” and “I hate America” crowd, simply don’t matter.
Love is everywhere, the good people are the overwhelming majority, and when we see the “I hate America” people, we should remember that they are nothing but a rare, useless breed of insect, to be studied and then forgotten.
The second link, the movie, is the story here. The first link is the exception, not the rule.
Thanks for reminding me.

It’s still here, as long as we’ve got folks like you to yell at us when we screw up. A great generation of soldiers and sacrificers is dying off and taking their morality with them, and its been breaking my heart to see my aunts and uncles leave here forever, one by one.
In forty years, when gay robots are marrying eachother, people are voting on whether or not abortion should be legal in World of Warcraft, and China goes to the U.N. with a complaint about the Neo-Soviet Republic of France that reads, “OMG HAX WTF,” I’m sure I’ll have just as much to complain about when I’m drunk on a beer made from a genetic cross between hops and weed. And I’ll have Iraq to explain to future generations, because we sure do already know how the media is going to remember it.

I loved proposing to my wife!
We were walking along the beach in the beautiful, quaint seaside town of Cape May, the southern most tip of the state of New Jersey in early April, in the beginning of Spring.
She was so touched and happy she could not hold back the tears, nor could I.
About two and one half years later, after we were married, she treated me to a birthday present by taking me to a charming Italian restaurant whose claim to fame was that the waiters and waitresses are vocalists – classical and show performers. They stand on the landing atop the four steps that separate the two sides of the restaurant and they ring the school bell beside them to signal that the song will begin. The accompanying music is played off the recording equipment in the room in the back and piped through the restaurant.
During a time that I was away from the table my wife and our waiter were conversing and she told him about my background as a musician, classical, jazz, and blues guitarist and classically trained vocalist and jazz vocalist who performed concerts in all those areas or avenues of performance. The waiter asked if I would like to sing.
Of course I wanted to sing to my wife. I had such an urge to express something romantic, express love through that way to her, through song. I was having such a wonderful time and she was so charming and lovable! So, I asked if they had the accompaniment to “Be My Love” which was recorded and made famous by Mario Lanza in 1950, first appearing in the movie “Prince of New Orleans” and sung as a duet by Mario Lanza and Kathryn Grayson.
Needless to say I had the privelegeg to stand there in that charming restaurant and, while gazing into my wife’s sparkling, beautiful eyes, sing “Be My Love” to her at this, our romantic dinner, her treat to me on my birthday.
The song went over very well as I was in good voice that night and I absolutely LOVED that I got the chance to do this and sing to her in that environment! Her face was so angelic, at peace, and with that glow of love, that soft smile breaking over her lips, the twinkle in her eye, I was in heaven!
Love and marriage is wonderful and I truly feel blessed to have this wonderful gift of love, and our three beautiful children, with the ever present possibility that our family might expand even more – more love for everyone.
When I read the article from the DailyKos, and many of the foul mouthed, negative, dissonant statements by so many leftist types spew I get the impression that they are very sad and that many don’t really feel love, joy, or hope in their lives. They project that feeling and outlook on others, Christians, believers, devoted persons, George W. Bush, the US, people with some virtue, values, morals, discipline, love, and so on.
It is sad.
Nevertheless, that video did not truly remind me of our own marriage proposal, but in the peripheral sense that it was a proposal. Ours was truly sweet and joyous!
That love has gown more and more, and manifested in three beautiful, charming, bright, aware children who bonded strongly with one another are love one another, and us dearly, and we them.

The Kossack “Coolobserver” appears to be saying that the U.S. is “Canada” for people who don’t want to enlist in a war against the U.S.. He makes himself out to be a sort of draft-dodger or “chickenhawk.”
My remarks are merely ad hominem heckling, not a refutation of Coolobserver, of course. However, this is one of those cases in which I’d rather just heckle.

“Coolobserver” (aka Mickey Z, the “muscular militant”) is perfectly free to express his hatred of America. We have freedom of speech in America.
Just as I am perfectly free to express my disgust with this traitorous, leftwing, 3-day old, piece of fecal matter.
The First Amendment, which allows him to express his screed of lies (and his rant is made up almost entirely of lies), also allows me to express my wish that this scumbag leaves America, goes to some foreign country, and DOES INDEED END UP on the “other side of America’s foreign policy.” Preferably the BAYONET side. I’ll shed no tears if that happens, either.
BTW, he LIVES in New York City. No doubt, he laughed and cheered when the World Trade Center collapsed and nearly 3000 people DIED. He hates America. He’s free to do that. I’m free to return the favor.

That was the most pathetic piece of liberal guilt I’ve ever read. Thanks AP! You can tell how uninformed a person is by the breadth of their stereotypes. I know Democrats like this, and a few of them actually equate the Enron scandal to ALL businesses, ALL CEOs, etc. I wish they would actually pick up a WSJ and read more then the Personal Journal. But he’s probably too busy saving the letter “W” or something.
What in the hell motivates people to lecture on things they obviously know nothing about? It has to be a combo of political ideology and hype from the media and close friends.
I think we are all relatively going down the same road.
It’s our policies that we argue about. So, it’s like we’re all on a family road trip and everyone is arguing about the directions. And you know this guy is like that sibling that has the loudest voice, doesn’t like to be challenged, and, instead of listening…he’s too busy thinking about what he’s going to say next.

I would hope you’ve been treated well here and my best guess is you have. What’s needed is more discussion between us, not rants and accusations. Our goal should be what’s best for this country, not what’s best for any party or group. Unfortunately, I believe a system that was created to give power to the individual and not government, has been rewritten by powerful interest groups and selfish politicians.
I used to vote democratic but could not watch the constitution being rewritten any longer so I joined the side that at least made attempts from time to time to maintain it.
Anyway, I certainly hope you’ll feel welcome in voicing your opinions and concerns, as it appears you have here.

Communist Party USA
I did a little checking on the Communist Party, USA. Among all the other hogwash of the “joys of socialism” the above statement shows the true nature of the movement. Please note the “freedom” to choose competing candidates “who respect and are guided by the concept of building socialism”. I have always known that Communism (even under the guise of Socialism) can not tolerate dissent, and even in their public statements they can’t hide it.
And I have to wonder what kind of “organizations of their choice” they will allow, something tells me my church will not be among them.

Glynn,
Thank you for those kind words.
Of course I feel and think that I am a lucky man.

I did a little checking on the Commie Party, USA. Among all the other hogwash of the “joys of socialism” the above statement shows the true nature of the movement. Please note the “freedom” to choose competing candidates “who respect and are guided by the concept of building socialism”. I agree with you and the others here who find public proposals to be out of kilter.
They put the woman on the spot and bring in an element of artificiality and coercion into the mix, leaving the lady feeling like she is not alone to express her intimate thoughts and feelings unless she does so before the crowd. The man already relinquished such options, turning himself into a public figure, like a politician or an actor, without the heart felt, deep, clear expression that can come with proposing marriage in a more intimate, private setting.
One of the aspects I loved about the time I proposed to my wife was not only the beautiful warm sunshine, the cool breeze, the sound of the ocean, the pleasant day itself, but the fact that we were alone, allowing an intimate, quiet, private interaction where we were not performing for anyone, save, if one wishes to split hairs, perhaps performing for each other and ourselves.
Yes, marriage proposals are best served in private.
