Lightens up the mood around here, ifyaknowwhatimean. I chime in with a hearty “Thank You!”
RushBaby on February 8, 2007 at 6:56 PM
At least he wasn’t picking someone’s pocket as Democrats (and some Republicans) are wont to do.
Just don’t tell me where he put his “findings”. I don’t wanna know.

um, um, um!

You know in some cultures it’s proper to do so. Perhaps you Right Wing Fascists don’t get that maybe, just maybe, he was just being who he is. And who are we to judge?
I thought we fought for freedom, the freedom to pick noses. And I’ll be damned if that doesn’t entail eating what we find. What’s the point of picking if you don’t eat? In America we have never done things halfassed and I don’t intend we do it now.
Don’t question his patriotism just because he picks his nose and eats it!
Keljeck on February 8, 2007 at 7:14 PM
You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose;
but you can’t pick your friend’s nose.

I’m dyin’ to know who that is! Help!
DPierre on February 8, 2007 at 7:15 PM
Oh man – that’s nasty.
Reminds me of Larry the Cable Guy who said “I’ve kept all my New Year’s resolutions – except one. I ate a booger last night….”
Poor guy – he’s gonna get hammered for that one….

Laura on February 8, 2007 at 7:26 PM
Obviously a Democrat.
Since he’s so into recycling.
Professor Blather on February 8, 2007 at 7:29 PM
Listen, as soon as you motherf***ers start outlawing booger eating, eventually the ideologically-run rules of polite society will find that there’s no right to any public displays of gross habits, period.
One thing I vow here and now–you motherf***ers who want to ban booger eating will never sleep. I will pick my nose without having to find a place to stash the byproduct day in and out and you will know it and you won’t be able to stop it. Toss and turn, you mean, jealous motherf***ers. I’m not going to be “punished” with a pile of dried nose goblins smeared all over my desk. Which makes all your efforts a failure. Some booger-eaters escaped. So give up now. You’ll never catch all of us. Give up now.

Well, I can scratch one name off the list of who might be the culprits flickin’ ‘em on the stall door… when we find out what it is.

Well played, flip.
Well played, indeed, sir.
Hoodlumman on February 8, 2007 at 7:42 PM
Indeed he does.
Funniest comment so far… Mr. Marcotte is it?
Now let’s play a “name that reference” game:
“I am not an animal!”
First one to get that reference wins…. my respect.
(Hint: “If we pick, do we not bleed?”)
RightWinged on February 8, 2007 at 7:48 PM
Reminds me of this old ditty:
You can pick your friends,
and you can pick your nose,
but you can’t pikc your friends nose.
ba dump bump.

Ah, the Merchant of Venice. As I recall, Shylock was a Jew. That explains how this snippet made it to the Tube.
Really though Allah, couldn’t this have waited until later?

No booger pickin on the house floor should be added to the Code of Official Conduct.Lately the republicans get their filabusters and the democrats get their fila boogers.HA
spazzmomma on February 8, 2007 at 8:17 PM
That democrat is obviously a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee (you can tell by his thoughtful body language).
Zorro on February 8, 2007 at 8:19 PM
LOL, flip……..
The Ugly American on February 8, 2007 at 8:19 PM
Lol, that may be where the line originally comes from… but when I say:
“I am not an animal!”
And asking who knows the reference, I’m relating it to the subject of this post (“the pick”)
Huh?
Well, looks like you guys need a bigger hint, so I’ll just give you the full quote:
Come on people, don’t let me down here.
RightWinged on February 8, 2007 at 8:25 PM
Seinfeld said it, along with, “Not a pick! No! No pick! Nooooo!”
laelaps on February 8, 2007 at 8:28 PM
You can pick your nose,
And you can pick your friends,
But you can’t flick your friends out the car window.

Why am I so glad it isnt Henry Waxman ?
William Amos on February 8, 2007 at 8:29 PM
In defense of RightWinged, I think that capper line (“I am not an animal”) from the scene in question of [redacted for anyone who's still tring to figure it out] is in turn an allusion to The Elephant Man.
flip on February 8, 2007 at 8:29 PM
Ahhh…I think you’re talking about Seinfeld. Yeah, I was thinking you were making a play on words.
thedecider on February 8, 2007 at 8:30 PM

Yes, it’s Seinfeld! I was worried for a minute there. Excellent work guys.
RightWinged on February 8, 2007 at 9:05 PM
THAT would have been a significant finding….
Is this why Peloosi was so adamant about having her own people controlling the CSPAN cameras?
91Veteran on February 8, 2007 at 9:28 PM
I think it’s Peter Roskam, R-IL.
Laura on February 8, 2007 at 9:29 PM
Roskam is new to the House; he was a state senator in Illinois. Evidently (if it’s him, that is) he’s not aware of how folks act in the big city.
Laura on February 8, 2007 at 9:31 PM
I don’t think that’s him. The guy in the video is a lot older roskam looks 40ish; the guy in the video 60ish.
lorien1973 on February 8, 2007 at 9:42 PM
This guy perhaps.
http://www.house.gov/visclosky/
I’m narrowing down the list here :)
lorien1973 on February 8, 2007 at 9:46 PM
The guy in the vid looks older than the pic on his page.
Greg Tinti on February 8, 2007 at 9:49 PM
I only wish it was someone good like Barney Frank, Charlie Rangel, or John Murtha.
Greg Tinti on February 8, 2007 at 9:50 PM
Visclosky’s got more hair from his photos on his page.
Is there a 2007 class photo yet?

lorien1973 on February 8, 2007 at 9:53 PM
I hope whoever he is that he’s a Democrat.

At least it wasn’t a woman- that would have been too rude.
Scotsman on February 8, 2007 at 9:57 PM
Nope. I don’t think it is Poe either. We don’t pick our noses in Texas. :-0
Limerick on February 8, 2007 at 9:58 PM
I couldn’t find a 2007 class photo, but WaPo had this – and Roskam is front and center. The hairline is what made me think it was him. Here’s the wiki 2007 freshman list, but the thumbnails are almost useless.
Laura on February 8, 2007 at 10:00 PM
Not necessary. There are plenty of legit reasons to be sickened by them.
RightWinged on February 8, 2007 at 10:02 PM
http://mcnerney.house.gov/ maybe?
wiki has individual photos of each…but trying to scan through 435 is gonna take awhile.
Limerick on February 8, 2007 at 10:07 PM
I saw something similar to this years ago on C-SPAN. I forget which presidential election it was, but the C-SPAN camera was casualy scanning the Press Room following one of the debates, obviously just tying to fill time until the next scheduled event. There we’re hundreds of tables and chairs, but most of the media had long since left the room and headed back to their hotels. Then the camera stopped and panned in on a sole reporter still sitting in front of his laptop, and zoomed in on him.
Unfortunately the guy had his finger all the way up his nose in the close up. The funniest part? The reporter was none other than David Broder of the Washington Post. If only YouTube had been around back then.
fogw on February 8, 2007 at 10:10 PM
I stared at mcnerney for a while too, but look at the bags under the eyes. the guy in the screencap has very pronounced bags; mcnerney does not. that’s why i didn’t include him in the probables :)
lorien1973 on February 8, 2007 at 10:11 PM
ROTF……just noticed this thread on boogers has pulled ahead of the Al Gore thread.
Limerick on February 8, 2007 at 10:13 PM
Yeah, only outlaws will eat them.
Attila (Pillage Idiot) on February 8, 2007 at 10:21 PM
An apparent personal jihad against boogers. smite them with your fingernails, and swallow them whereever you find them. In his culture, it’s perfectly acceptable. So chill everyone.

Timothy Johnson (R) – Illinois?

John Oliver (D) – Massachusetts?

“Ah, usin the whole hand doc?”
91Veteran on February 8, 2007 at 11:12 PM
I was all set to say Tim Johnson but I think his hair is too red. How about process of elimination? It’s nobody from Louisiana. Any other states we can rule out?

For the sake of ending global warming, we must all grow and eat our own food. Recycling is a must! I applaud this representative for taking the initiative to pick the right legislation. He’s certainly got a nose for science.
TexasRainmaker on February 8, 2007 at 11:54 PM
RightWinged:
The answer is Spartacus.
This may not be the actual quote you were referencing. I suspect you were referencing Shakesphere.
None-the-less, this was a gripping quote from a great movie.
EFG on February 9, 2007 at 3:38 AM
Haha, I wish you’d read on EFG… I was actually referencing Seinfeld, though he was clearly referencing something else (from what others have said it was the Elephant Man).
RightWinged on February 9, 2007 at 4:23 AM
By the way, this guy’s form is waaaaaay off. My niece recently went through a stage where she would go palm out with an index finger in one nostril and a middle finger in the other, mainly while watching TV or playing Dora the Explorer games at Nick Jr.’s site. That’s how ya pick. We call it double barrel. As in “Look, she’s double barrelin’ it”. Of course we’d make her stop, and the phase actually seems to ended rather quickly. But we’re left with a classic inside joke for the rest of our lives.
RightWinged on February 9, 2007 at 6:53 AM

soulsirkus on February 9, 2007 at 8:27 AM

So, it looks like the identity of this guy hasn’t been pinned (picked?) yet.
