Sorry, I meant to say “non-septic”. Though it isn’t a natural antiseptic like honey, when rendered properly it isn’t particularly septic or toxic, and was used in wound or burn dressings in the past (typically combined with other healing ingredients).

Unless we’re concerned with the “what-ifs” of someone living but later dying (or suffering) from an infection or inflammation caused by pork fat, one of the more antiseptic and beneficial wound-healing compounds known to man.

I ask because, IMO, there is a differnce between winning the hearts and minds of a populace when the enemy has already been defeated, and attempting to win the hearts and minds when the enemy hasn’t stopped fighting yet.

b. Interpretation. What weapons cause “unnecessary injury” can only be determined in light of the practice of States in refraining from the use of a given weapon because it is believed to have that effect. The prohibition certainly does not extend to the use of explosives contained in artillery projectiles, mines, rockets, or hand grenades. Usage has, however, established the illegality of the use of lances with barbed heads, irregular-shaped bullets, and projectiles filled with glass, the use of any substance on bullets that would tend unnecessarily to inflame a wound inflicted by them, and the scoring of the surface or the filing off of the ends of the hard cases of bullets.
