Video: Cafferty asks Blitzer, “Is Anna Nicole Smith still dead, Wolf?”

Thanks to Bob Owens for tipping us to this. Death brings out the jackass in many of us, including some commenters — or rather, ex-commenters — on this very site. Not so in the case of Jack Cafferty; his inner jackass is always out and proud. Here’s the latest example, in which he expresses his displeasure with CNN’s blanket coverage of Anna Nicole Smith’s death as only a true jackass can. His defeatism about the surge at the beginning of the clip isn’t related, but I thought it’d be a fun bonus.
And here’s another curiosity from earlier in the day, recorded several hours before Smith’s body was found: Rosie O on “The View” noting the sad state Smith was in. Probably no one in the world outside of ANS’s own family feels as bad as Rosie does right now. I hope she doesn’t take heat for it; kicking her is always fun, but she shouldn’t have to pay for a coincidence.

Two amusements re. ANS’ death coverage:
- John and Ken, LA radio show – they laugh histerically about Wolf Blitzer apparently having had to cover the death at length, against his will and heady stature, while a short promo comes up with Lou Dobbs (who must follow Blitzer…) “on top of the hour, I guarantee you ladies and gentlemen that there will be NO ANS coverage for an hour during my show – back to you Wolf”.
- Bill O’Reilly had Greta on, yammering about the coverage of this….bla, bla, bla, why the fascination, bla, bla, bla…then “Greta, thanks, we’ll be right back with the most ridiculour item of the day”

I felt bad about Anna Nicole Smith’s death. She always seemed like a nice person and also she had a healthy attitude towards those who made fun of her, as was apparent on the comments tonight on Fox from her past interview with Greta. She said she didn’t care if people made fun of her or watched her show to make fun of her; she was having the last laugh all the way to the bank.
Her death was sad and very suspicious.

And, imagine the pain a human being must carry around in their soul to take drugs or alcohol to the extent that they may kill them.

Allah- I will disagree on the Rosie comment. If Rosie took a just a little more time to worry about the sad state she was in, and a little less time trying to bring everyone else down, I would cut her slack, but as it is, this is a pattern for Rosie..Speak first, think second. Of course she had no idea that Anna would be dead shortly after, but maybe it should be a wakeup call to her that she should think before she speaks..She brings up the fact that Anna is a distraction, but what does she consider herself and the press she so desperately craves?

You’re absolutely right that Rosie shouldn’t have to take heat over a coincidence like that. Even I wouldn’t sink that low (and that’s saying something).

AP I get what you are saying about her not having to take heat for a coincidence, but her bad mouthing people is not a coincidence. I chalk this one up to, she made her bed, now she’ll have to sleep in it.

Forgot about old Jack. Yeah, that was pretty sour grapes of him but I was also wondering why this warranted a Fox News Alert and CNN Breaking News Alert as well. I mean, did a head of state die today? No, just some bimbo who was in Playboy a few times and thought she was a reincarnated Marilyn Monroe. I’m sorry she’s dead but I was a bit frustrated with this wall to wall coverage on the news stations. You’d expect this with Entertainment Tonight but seriously, it was a bit much.
BTW it will be interesting to see what the cow says tomorrow about this. Again, let her stew in her own juices. Eventually her bad mouthing was going to catch up with her.

Yeah, I actually saw this today and thought it quite inappropriate. Cafferty’s raging alcoholism knows no bounds. Hit anyone with your car and take off before the authorities arrived lately, Jackie?
On the other hand, we’ve heard almost nothing about how her bad choices in life most likely led to this bad outcome. We don’t know how she died yet, but it’s probably something to do with drugs. She didn’t even know who the father of her child was? How pathetic. And almost no one has anything to say about this. Some of the folks on Fox, of course, made these points, thank goodness. There are lessons to be learned from this bimbo’s death, but you’ll hardly hear about it. The same thing happened locally several months ago when a 19 year old girl disappeared. They arrested her boyfriend for the crime and it turns out that she was pregnant by this guy after knowing him for about a month. And he’d knocked up another chick in the same time period. Talk about making bad choices, yet no one in the media had a thing to say about it. Sad.

Well, I kinda agree with Cafferty.
Talk about excessive coverage! There’s more than a little voyeurism at work here–the woman was a train-wreck and frankly, had she not been a playboy “model” and had those freakishly enhanced breasts, this wouldn’t have caused a stir.
Not exactly mother of the year material–son overdoses, daughter’s paternity unknown. Hate to be so judgmental, but come on. One hopes the little girl can have a decent and normal life, but don’t bet on it.

It’s his son. I don’t know if I like this yet. I like the fact that he is a good defensive coach (especially with the 3-4), because this defense is very talented, but made a lot of mistakes down the stretch. I also like the clause in the contract providing for a buyout after the first year. This way, if things go south next season, they can bring someone else in here (like Cowher).

No, I’m no fan of Cafferty’s, and it’s not Anna Nicole’s fault that the media chose to bore us all to tears with 24/7 coverage of an insignificant nobody’s death and yes, it’s always sad when somebody effs up their life like that and take the easy route out, but really.
It was about time somebody pointed out that there are things more important than the demise of the world’s largest mammaries, and Cafferty did so quite appropriately, in my personal, jackass opinion.

Words have power. Personal attacks hurt people. It is perfectly reasonably foreseeable that if you’re bitter and cruel to enough people, often enough, loudly enough, someone’s going to get really hurt.
I’m not talking about political speech. I’m talking about childish, cruel taunts.
Maybe my points is this: maybe you’re right that Rosie shouldn’t take heat just because Anna happened to die on the same day she was spewing her venom in that direction … but I see no problem with her taking heat over her hatred the rest of the time.
Words have power. If you use that power the way Rosie does, you deserve the heat that follows.
And yes – if Rosie reads some of the comments here and decides to off herself, we do indeed probably deserve the heat that’d come. So what?
