I cannot, for the life of me, empathize with Smith herself. Binging on alcohol (and probably drugs, too) and broadcasting on TV glimpses of how it turns your brain to mush are beyond my ability to empathize with. I’m sorry that’s so blunt, but that’s the way I feel. As I alluded to before, there simply are some people whose deaths, while sad and tragic, just come as little to no surprise.

You can praise her all you want but I do not see the redeeming qualities of a junkie that extorted the family fortune of an 89 year old man on his deathbed.

I’m not praising her. I’m just not insulting her. Again, there is a difference here.

And yes, I do know the difference between right and wrong, but I fail to see how insulting a dead woman you’ve never met meets the criteria of the “right thing” to do, especially on a site where others have been asked to treat her with the decency any human being should be afforded.

But yes, if you continue to list further insults, you will be wasting your time, and if you go far enough with, you might join the posters who were banned earlier.

However, I will say this: Once upon a time, Anna Nicole Smith was someones daughter, hopefully the apple of someones eye. Someone loved her not because they’d seen her mincing about in the nude, or on television, but simply because she was their child, niece, neighbor, ect. I’m not naive enough to believe that anyone will take a lesson from what happened to her, but I hope it imbues some caution about the pitfalls in that lifestyle. May she rest in peace.

Though I didn’t particularly like Smith while she was alive, I can certainly second this. She was a human being and at least deserves that respect.

And that’s really all I can say here except to hope that her daughter is able to travel a different path and that Anna found peace at some point.

That said, I too pray that underneath all of the mess that was ANS, she was with God and Christ. It’s just awfully hard to see any evidence that this was the case, given a public profile defined by obsession with money and celebrity, and pockmarked by self-abuse and cosmetic surgery.

Love is the answer, plain and simple.

I just emailed AP… I was flipping through the channels to get away from Inside Edition and crossed CNN, just as Jack Cafferty said, “Is Anna Nicole still dead, Wolf?”

I always kind of felt sorry for her. I hope she’s in a better place.
