The obligatory “Anna Nicole Smith dies” post
posted at 4:37 pm on February 8, 2007 by Ian
Unless you’ve been under a rock or in a cave, you’ve heard former porn star Anna Nicole Smith is dead. How’d I hear? While I was waiting for a fire alarm to stop going off in the lobby of one of my classes.
Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital, a law enforcement source told CNN.
Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel, according to news reports.
“I can confirm that she is deceased. It’s as shocking to me as to you guys,” Smith’s attorney, Ronald Rale, told Reuters. “I don’t know anything further. [Her lawyer and husband] Howard [K. Stern], obviously, is speechless and grieving.”
Update (from Michelle): I’d like to highlight and echo Baldilocks’ comment.
This was a human being who probably died with no hope and believing that no one left alive really loved her (the baby notwithstanding).
I knew someone else who died believing this (via an overdose) and it hurts to this day that he went out of here in despair.
It’s called empathy.

I think this is just terribly sad.
Her baby is just about 5 months old. Anna lost her son days after having her baby. The post partum depression (sometimes very subtle), combined with the loss of her son must have been horrendous.
I hope this poor lost soul has finally found some peace.
I pray that Anna’s daughter finds safety in her young life.
God bless her.

Excellent. I wish someone would do the same with Geraldo Rivera, who wasted no time blasting sensationalist nonsense on the teevee about her.
Whatever you think of her, there’s a baby girl who will never know her mommy, except for what people (and especially the media) tell her. Look how they’re bringing out all the video on the news of her more embarrassing moments. It’s disgusting.

Though your soul may dwell in darkness
It will rise in perfect light.
You have loved the stars too fondly
To be fearful of the night.
RIP ANS

MSM and the Cable Networks are having a bloody orgasm.
First the astronaut, Now ANS.
May Anna “Rest In Peace”

Money can’t buy you happiness. Fame actually tends to destroy happiness for most.
Love is the answer, plain and simple.

God Welcome you Home Anna Nicole Smith, may he comfort you, bless you , and ease your troubled soul…….
To your son, “Hi, Mom, it’s great here, I made you a room, let me show you around,,,,,,,,”
To your daughter, ,,,, I have no words. It has already started… the courts will determine her “father”, but that is not a Dad, I know. Where, were they when she, Anna, went to a hotel, and the bars, to get her picure taken??? Who changed the diapers, who fed, cleaned, bathed, laughed, played, loved unconditionally??????
She is not even cold, and yet, the law suits for paternity have already started, but they were not there when it counted.
To your daughter Anna Nicole Smith, I can only offer my prayers, and hope someone who truly loves her more than the money will raise her, otherwise, she will join you in a few short years,
And THAT will be the judgement we will all be a part to….
God Rest Your Soul, Anna Nicole Smith, please, Rest, finally in Peace.

The story doesn’t end here, we’ll be reading about her daughter Dannielynn for the next few decades.
What is it with blondes and overdoses? (I’m assuming that’s what it turns out to be)

Can’t we all just get a REAL LIFE?
seejanemom on February 9, 2007 at 6:29 AM
Ditto everything you said, Pinky!

Physician, heal thyself. I frankly see not one person here more desperately in need of a finding a “real life” than you, toots. Not one. You win that prize.
I realize you’re trolling desperately for a little blog traffic, and I wish you luck with it. But if you have no interest in the topic posted here by this particular blog’s owners, and you don’t want to read what has, in the end, frankly become a pretty touching thread of prayers and well wishes …
… maybe you could take your bile elsewhere?

Oooohh, ouch. Tough love, PB. Janey is a pretty solid citizen, and I certainly understand the confusion of some people with the SickCultureWatch reaction to the death of yet another human disaster.
That said, I too pray that underneath all of the mess that was ANS, she was with God and Christ. It’s just awfully hard to see any evidence that this was the case, given a public profile defined by obsession with money and celebrity, and pockmarked by self-abuse and cosmetic surgery.
OMGoodness. I’m writing about Anna Nicole Smith…
Jaibones on February 9, 2007 at 9:02 AM
Though I didn’t particularly like Smith while she was alive, I can certainly second this. She was a human being and at least deserves that respect.
And that’s really all I can say here except to hope that her daughter is able to travel a different path and that Anna found peace at some point.

She was like so many people in (and outside of) Hllywood. She used a happy face to obscure and cover up a sould that was hurting desperately. Her son dies just days after she gives birth to her daughter, then her last two boyfriends have a peeing contest to see who the father is.
But, alas, the Hollywood mill will keep on churning. Farewell Anna.

I don’t know any 39 year olds that have a nurse with them. Do you?
faraway on February 9, 2007 at 10:54 AM
Let me get this straight.
I am supposed to care about a person that “married” an 89 year old man with the sole purpose of cleaning out the family fortune.
Not only that but the Supreme Court went along with this con job and allowed this theft to take place legally.
According to Greta Van Sustern, this is a class act that was a very intelligent business woman.
What planet are these people from?
Excuse me while I puke.

I’ve stated many times I have little use for celebrities and the effect they have on our children and culture.
However, I will say this: Once upon a time, Anna Nicole Smith was someones daughter, hopefully the apple of someones eye. Someone loved her not because they’d seen her mincing about in the nude, or on television, but simply because she was their child, niece, neighbor, ect. I’m not naive enough to believe that anyone will take a lesson from what happened to her, but I hope it imbues some caution about the pitfalls in that lifestyle. May she rest in peace.
austinnelly on February 9, 2007 at 12:16 PM
You don’t have to care about her, but you don’t have to maliciously insult her either. There is a difference.
Esthier on February 9, 2007 at 12:24 PM
Her whole life was an insult, do you know the difference between right and wrong.
You can praise her all you want but I do not see the redeeming qualities of a junkie that extorted the family fortune of an 89 year old man on his deathbed.
I could list all the other insults but I obviously would be wasting my time.
ScottyDog on February 9, 2007 at 12:39 PM
Respect in peace Mommy.
Ouabam on February 9, 2007 at 12:57 PM
I’m not praising her. I’m just not insulting her. Again, there is a difference here.
And yes, I do know the difference between right and wrong, but I fail to see how insulting a dead woman you’ve never met meets the criteria of the “right thing” to do, especially on a site where others have been asked to treat her with the decency any human being should be afforded.
But yes, if you continue to list further insults, you will be wasting your time, and if you go far enough with, you might join the posters who were banned earlier.

I can empathize with her family and friends. They undoubtedly saw her self-destructive behavior and perhaps even tried to help her. I extend my condolences and prayers to them at this time.
I cannot, for the life of me, empathize with Smith herself. Binging on alcohol (and probably drugs, too) and broadcasting on TV glimpses of how it turns your brain to mush are beyond my ability to empathize with. I’m sorry that’s so blunt, but that’s the way I feel. As I alluded to before, there simply are some people whose deaths, while sad and tragic, just come as little to no surprise.
