In my days at NASA I heard quite a lot of talk about global warming,

But did you hear a lot of talk about driving 900 miles in diapers, with a knife, mallet, pepper spray, a trench coat and a wig?

I don't get it...The Muslims get outraged every time their feelers get hurt and must condemn, what to me, is just foolish, boyish behavior (Yes the Mohamed cartoons were just that, nothing more). Wheres the outrage with what should be truly condemned? I swear, the PC loaning of our freedoms to every idiot who walks our streets is going to screw this country up ( if it hasn't already ).

Forget that global warming silliness - how 'bout those suits?

Where do I get one?

I might have missed it - did he say a cost per unit? Dude. Imagine the look on Achmed's face when a platoon of Marine's wearing those show up.

Forget the "surge." Just buy a few thousand suits. Come on, Dubya. Canadian technology and American ingenuity ought to be able to finish off Osama by lunch time. Off set the costs by selling action figures.

Just to add a little fuel to the fire. It is yet to be determined if CO2 does cause the "greenhouse" effect. To my knowledge (which is limited) there has never been any scientific proof of this. Many scientist believe it and back into the theory, but no one has come up with the proof. If someone has the definitive study on this, Professor Lindzen (of MIT, Alfred Sloan Prof. of Meteorology) or Dr. Ball (32 yrs. prof. of climatology U of Winnipeg) would like to see it.
Two noted experts that have never seen the relationship between man and co2 and climate.

People are completely missing the big issue with global warming and confusing two very important but separate points.

Point 1: The earth IS warming up. This is not in dispute. The planet has been slowly warming since the peak of the little ice age in the 1600's.

Point 2: The real debate is not if global warming is taking place, but WHY global warming is taking place. The Global warming nutroots insist it's because of man's activity but that is virtually impossible to prove and we all know that correlation =/= causality. On the other side, it's rather foolish to say that man has no effect on the environment and is incapable of affecting large global systems. The dust bowl, for example, was largely a man-made event and there are other examples throughout history where people have screwed themselves by mucking up local and regional ecosystems.

So who's ultimately right? It's probably a bit of both. The earth would be warming anyway if there were no people here, but it's certainly a reasonable argument to suggest we are having some effect. The question then becomes - what is the best course of action? Over time we should move away from fossil fuels for strategic reasons, if nothing else, but the global economy could not handle the shock of implementing something like Kyoto.

Point 3: Some commenters here have talked about the snow in Colorado or the cold weather or whatever as proof that Global Warming does not exist. Global warming is defined as an increase in the average temperature planet-wide. That kind of global change will have different regional effects and no one should assume that every spot on the planet will get demonstrably warmer.

Anyway, we need more science and maybe we need to light off a few hundred nukes. Remember nuclear winter?

Sorry everyone! I just managed to wrest the tinfoil hat off of my head that had been blocking my access to the global media for the last thirty years.

So, what is the perilous, apocalyptic, doomsday scenario I should be worried about this decade?

Is it still Global Cooling?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling

Maybe it's time to stop grinding on this one for now and rehash it all with a new, sparkly name after another 20-30 years?

Damn I'm hungry. I think Nostradamus and I will go chop off Chicken Little's head and serve it up with a nice side of wild rice and a glass of water containing ice from a threateningly oversized glacier.

Seriously. Al Gore et al have the same credibility as the unwashed crazy you see on the street corner who is wearing a sandwich board that says "The End is Nigh." Albeit with a far better budget...

Ah, to hell with it.

/Puts tinfoil hat back on.

Colorado has just had our 7th snowiest December/January EVER.

AND we've just experienced our 2nd yes SECOND coldest December/January ON RECORD. Brrrr. We still have 3-4 feet drifts in Denver from December snows along side most of the houses.

There is a 600-700 year cycle around the world for global warming. Look back at the time of the plague in the 1300's which was made exponentially worse because of the extreme drought and 600 years before that. The climate is cyclical and has many reasons for warming and cooling from way before exhaust .

It’s so obvious the whole global warming ’science’ is a fabricated attack on the American economy. By the anti-American U.N. block. Do you trust the U.N.? Al Gore? Ted Turner?

Being obvious is one thing; but people are so ready to believe it. Real, actual, global fascism is coming in the name of global warming. Then, when the system cools again (as it always does), it will only cement that such harsh measures were needed and will always be needed.

One more: Al Qaeda’s living in the past. Here’s what the future might look like. Eh.

I just found a reason to like Canada. We need those things out there. I wouldn't even mind raising taxes for them. Those would save countless lives.

Here is a link to the Gideon story by one of those arrested. In the interest of full disclosure, I too am a Gideon.

http://www.brojed.org/newboard/Posts/13994H.html

WorldNetDaily.com had a good article on this incident also. I am quoting from their article about the purpose of the Gideon ministry for those who may not know.

The Gideons, a group founded in the late 1800s, has as its "sole purpose" the goal "to win men, women, boys and girls to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through association for service, personal testimony, and distributing the Bible in the human traffic lanes and streams of everyday life."
Members of the Gideons, who pay their own expenses so 100 percent of the donations to the group go toward Bible purchases and distributions, have placed the Bible in 181 nations in 82 different languages over the years.
The organization focuses on hotels and motels, hospitals and nursing homes, schools, colleges and universities, the military and law enforcement and prisons and jails.

Didn't the North Vietnamese generals say pretty much the same thing after watching Cronkite declare the Tet offensive a huge disaster (for the south) and Jane Fonda urge them to 'hang in there...'?

As I recall General Gapp (Sp? General of N. Vietnam) stated in his memoirs that they were about to truly seek peace after their Tet offensive failed miserably (for them) until they saw how our own media portrayed it as a major loss for the south.

my blog entry has a great link to a 10 part story about global warming. its a must read.

Also. Record low temperatures in Hawaii, Indonesia, coupled with record highs in China. It's patently obvious SUVs and America are not causing it. Its just silly.

“Global Warming”, the newest in the brain falling out liberal minds attempts to bankrupt and destroy America…

Pretty much. I've been going out of my way to make the point that global warming is natural and has happened in the past and will happen in the future.

Sadly, the usual retort is "we have to make the world better for our children" or "we must do something" without even considering what that something is.

How quickly global warming believers are willing to give freedoms and tax dollars is very scary.

and take advantage of the collapse of morale among [the Crusader] soldiers and commanders;

I wonder where they got that idea? Why would these soldiers have a low morale? Anyone who believes that our enemy doesn't read/watch the news here in the states needs to look no further than this statement.
