At the senior prom, she dressed up as a transvestite witch a la Rocky Horror Picture Show.. She failed to get much of a reaction because no one had seen the movie and few would have appreciated the movie if they had. She thereupon lectured to the gathering there (there were 70 graduates total that year) what her costume represented and how important the movie is as a cultural event. When the gathering still “didn’t get it,” she sulked for the remainder of the prom. She attracted enough attention to get a scholarship to St. Edwards, a decent Catholic college in Austin. I’m sure it now regrets this.

As is so common with fairly intelligent people who overestimate their intelligence, she has been attracted to an extremist ideology that neatly explains all of the world’s happenings. Her blog with her “colorful” language and over-the-top opinions has given her the attention she craves. However, she seems to be the classic example of the Peter Principle in being promoted beyond her abilities and the chickens hatched by the conflict between her high ideals and serious personality flaws are coming home to roost.

My theory is, the hire was suggested by some ultra-lib staffer who really liked Amanda’s stuff.

I’m sure your theory is correct. But I’m still confused that no one took the time to research Marcotte’s history. We’re not talking about electing a city official, this is a failed Vice Presidential candidate now running for President. Surely there are other people working on the campaign that are blog savy.

The BIG question is, who thought it was a good idea to hire Marcotte in the first place? Did anyone bother researching her history?

The suggestion filtered its way up through people who had heard of these “blog” things but had no idea what they’re really about.

I figure blogs are in a phase like where Rock music was in the late 60s, according to Frank Zappa. He said that at that time, no one in the record business had the slightest clue what was going on in music, so they signed everyone. Blogs are to electoral politics what the rock acts were to the record business at the time. In another, say, two election cycles, people will have wised up.

I’m sure LGF, HotAir, Ace, Goldstein, etc. all have skeletons lingering in previous posts.

That’s true, but he did openly support several (those who threw a bone at him to let him (at least) feel powerful). All only proving he was pwned. I also don’t recall a candidate openly recruiting Kos, but it was a fine line.

Iowahawk gets a juicy leak– the emails between Marcotte and John Edwards. And Hot Air has CNN’s extremely soft-pedaled pseudo-coverage of the anti-Catholic charge hurled against the freak Marcotte. They definitely did not get into the nastier quotes …

Perhaps I missed it, but I don’t recall CNN shining a negative light on Kos’ support/support withdrawn for various candidates.

“Screw them” was never actually an official member of anyone’s campaign that I know of.

Kerry, Lament, Dick Turbin, etc., all strung KOS and others along during the last election, not officially a part of them, and not officially cutting any ties.

Even after, Kerry and Turbin leaving little love-notes to them so as to keep them on the hook.

It’s a fine line they walk, having to appease the nutballs while not being so closely associated with them that they could not weasel away from anything publicly embarrassing. Democrats know what enemies they would make, and you know what they say about keeping enemies close.

Marcotte and the other loon’s embarrassments just got a little too public.

…huh? If you’re saying Iowahawk might be rendered ineligible to run a campaign blog, somehow I don’t think that’s a concern for him.

So don’t bother sending a termination notice, John, because either way I’ll be coming in tomorrow bright and early. You’ll never be rid of me, or Kos, or DU, because we were all meant to be together.
