On the wires at this hour: the headmaster of that Saudi-funded school in Britain admits that her textbooks refer to Jews as “apes”; in Pakistan, where Musharraf’s grip is slipping, a suspect in the honor killing of his sister and her boyfriend says he feels no shame; Muslim community leaders in Australia are weighing what to do about the country’s mufti, who famously justified rape by comparing women to uncovered meat; a French magazine is being sued for insulting Islam by reprinting the Danish cartoons of Mohammed; and Iran’s ambassador to Syria declared earlier today that Israel’s destruction is “not only possible but imminent.”
It’s Hirsi Ali time. Here she is yesterday on CNN; order the book if you haven’t already.

Come on down to Texas Miss Ali, we could use you here. Houston, Austin, Dallas, anywhere you want. We would be proud to call you neighbor.

When it comes to speaking out against Islamic radicals it has been my observation that it is women who are leading the charge. Real ironic for a culture that exudes machoism. There is Wafa Sultan, Orianna Fallacina, Bridgette Gabriel, Ali, etc…
Todays women are the real men

Because liberals hate people who think for themselves!

If you really want to see a Islamo-libsympth’s head explode, ask them why it’s only the WOMEN of Islam that have the stones to speak out.
Heh….

Because the answers to some questions are not, um, ahh,
“convenient,” and do nothing to further the agenda.
Scotsman on February 7, 2007 at 2:56 PM
Because its safe to call you names… you are a civilised person.. it is NOT safe to critisize those making the threats, as they are barbarians who have killed people.
Problem with the left, and feminists today… they only really condemn from a position of safety. Tell me, where are the million woman marches against Burquas?
Romeo13 on February 7, 2007 at 3:06 PM
What an incredible woman, telling it like it is and unapologetic for doing so.. I hope all the Libtards are paying attention.
Viper1 on February 7, 2007 at 3:16 PM
The “libtards” are too busy trying to convince the rest of the Country that Islam is not a threat to be worried about a few Muslims that speak the truth.
NRA4Freedom on February 7, 2007 at 3:18 PM
Europe should embrace her, not kick her out. And why does every interview inevitably get around to her own atheism? Who cares about that?
She is shouting a warning from the ramparts and too many of us have our heads down and our ears covered and refuse to grasp hard onto the liberty and freedom of thought being gradually mau-maued away from us by Muslim apolgists.

Apostates are fun to listen to. I’m buying her book so hard. Sounds like it will be even more fun to read than Mark Steyn’s.

The libs behavior on this goes beyond hypocrisy and is starting to verge into schizophrenia.
Iblis on February 7, 2007 at 3:42 PM
This woman is a real live hero. Heroine. Whatever.
That word - “heroism” - gets tossed around way too freely. this is what a real one actually looks like.
It saddens me that the Left doesn’t realize that they’re looking at one of the rare Martin Luther King, Jr’s of the 21st century.
She’s doing more for actual women’s rights than NOW could do in a thousand years.
A real hero. For everyone, but especially for women.
I hope she has long, safe life. And I hope someday the people she’s doing the most for actually appreciate her heroism.

It’s not just women who are speaking out and it’s not just atheists. The problem is that whenever Christians say something about Islam or its founder, they’re quickly categorized by the media as fundamentalists trying to start a new crusade.
General Boykin was mentioned by Bryan either today (or was it yesterday?). He was publicly crucified (by Bill “mercenary” Arkin) for offering an opinion of Islam little different than Ms. Ali’s. Similarly, I recall a southern baptist leader who spoke at the annual convention a year or two ago who said Islam was a brutal religion started by a pedophile. He was similarly excoriated, though the facts seem to be in his favor. And lets not forget the huge trouble the Pope got in last year for obliquely suggesting that Islam was an irrational faith.
Atheists and women aren’t the only ones speaking out, but they seem to be the only ones the MSM is willing to regard as rational and/or “neutral.” The reality is no one is neutral and it’s not just atheists who are rational.

Ditto. I’m sure there are many more who feel the same way but as yet haven’t, or won’t, muster up the courage to speak out as Ayaan has done. I hope God keeps her safe.

Since I don’t want to offend AP, I’ll just leave the links to the reason that Muslims feel the way they do and act the way they act.

I’ve been listing many of these great people and Hotair articles and vids on digg dot com, trying to get the word out. Is anyone else helping? We need to try to ‘digg’ these important pieces so many other folks at least have a chance to see them.

The reason that Muslim critics of Ali don’t address the death threats is that they agree with the thugs making death threats. The reason that the Left does not accept Ali is that she challenges their multi-culti framework that holds all cultures to be morally equivalent, even the head-cutting ones. And of course, there is the issue of cowardice, both intellectual and physical.
Tantor on February 7, 2007 at 4:41 PM
I think the power of her message comes from the fact that she has lived and suffered for her views. It is hard for a leftist to criticize a minority woman who has been oppressed from their usual racial, gender political critique. She is a black woman saying the same things as a Daniel Pipes and Robert Spencer but her minority status (She’s a two-fer!) makes the attacks on her more difficult for the leftist mind.

Shortly after 9/11 my husband said it would be the women who change Islam. Quite frankly, at the time I thought he was nuts, but the more I learn about these courageous women the more I realize he was and is sooooo RIGHT!!! BTW, where the heck are the courageous Muslim males? Are they so afraid of a woman having rights and becoming their equal that they’ll let this form of Islam exist? What a bunch of synonym for CATS!

Hirsi Ali is Media perfect.
She’s great-looking, so the MSM will deign to put her on the air (for the simplistic eye-candy reasons that mean ratings), whatever other reservations they might have.
She doesn’t have a religion to promote so she cannot be accused of having an “evangelical”, etc. agenda or bias (i.e.- she doesn’t oppose Islam simply to substitute some other faith, which would undercut her message and turn it into mere proselytizing for some creed… their suspicion that vitiates all “Christian” objections to Mohammedism).
She knows more about her subject than her interviewers (allowing the audience to see the talking heads’ shallowness and Islamo-credulity).
She’s a quadruple-”minority“- a woman, gay, from a Third World Country, and Black (the sizzling of their multicultural hard-wiring- as they short-circuit in the extreme-libs’ heads- must even be audible to Ayaan as she suffers through their studious banalities and avoidances).
She’s articulate.
And she’s learned.
America and the West are greater for having a woman like her on our side.
Islam’s loss.
Thank God. (Not Allah.)
Any “religion” that would drive out anyone like Hirsi Ali deserves to end up in the dustbin of history.
And soon.
Inshallah…

The reason that the critiques of Ayaan Hirsi Ali do not condem her attackers is that they either agree with them, or they are intimidated into submission by the Islamic equalivent of the Gestapo.

We love AHA.
Enrique on February 7, 2007 at 11:21 PM
profitsbeard, you might be confusing Ayaan Hirsi Ali with Irshad Manji, who I believe is Lebanese-Canadian, openly lesbian, and also writes on similar topics and appears on shows; life also has been threatened.
If you’re not, please supply a resource i.e. article, reference, etc.

I recommend Robert Spencer’s books on Islam. The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades and The Truth About Mohammad. I’m reading both now and they are unflinchingly, brutally honest. The link is to Amazon if you want to read the reviews (I’m not pushing the site). The truth is out there.
Mojave Mark on February 7, 2007 at 11:55 PM
Yes, because the lefties have thrown the women under the bus in their rush to embrace all things Islamic. Or, mabe not. Because by that logic, gays should be speaking out, too, not just Manji, either. But they’re not, and I can’t for the life of me understand why. I guess it’s just, as the saying goes, that some people don’t know that fat meat’s greasy.

Thank you Mr. Pundit (I don’t like to even type the word ‘allah’) for giving us more AHA. We asked and you gave. You’re the best web diety EVER!
Ayaan is welcomed with open arms by those of us who’re accused of being raaaaaacist and she’s rejected by those who claim to be taaahhhhlerant. Typical lefties. Kick her outta Holland, the most liberal, progressive and socialist county … oooops *country* in Europe … uh, Eurasia. Yet the eeeeeevil U.S.A. takes her in with a great big kiss. Why? Read “While Europe Slept” for the long version, but here’s the cliff notes: Ayaan is not, nor will she ever be “Dutch”. Dutch is a nationality. If a Dutchman moves to America, he *becomes* an American. But if a Somali moves to the N.L., she does not *become* Dutch. She will always be an immigrant. She could be a fourth generation immigrant, but she’ll always be seen by the natives Dutchies as an immigrant. But *America* is the racist country??? The day Ayaan raises her right hand takes the oath, she’s an AMERICAN! If she moves to Romania, she’s an immigrant, if a Romanian moves to America, she becomes an American (Tony high fives Entel). Eat THAT libtards!
Tony737 on February 8, 2007 at 1:22 AM
Damn, it didn’t go thru, oh well, it was too long to type again. Thanks HotAir for providing us with more AHA as we’ve asked.
Tony737 on February 8, 2007 at 1:45 AM
This was the short version, with a CNN talking head who seemed to know almost nothing about Hirsi Ali. Glenn Beck had much more on what this poor woman has had to deal with on both CNN HN and on his radio program. May G’d bless and watch over Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
SpartRan on February 8, 2007 at 10:19 AM
I’ve noticed this as well, and I think you raise a good point. I’ve only been able to surmise that perhaps the Islamic women have long ago reached their saturation point. The men, who are more empowered and less often the victims, have less reason to rebel against the violence and hate.
Jewels on February 8, 2007 at 12:07 PM
Tony, you ‘out-of-control’ good friend, you :)
Great comment - same goes on in Germany and several other Western European countries.
I can’t wait for the day AHA becomes a U.S. citizen!

I wish our leaders would show some backbone and reprimand Europe’s leaders, and Europeans, as well as Democrats, Hollywood celebrities and pop-hip hop-rap musicians, leftists, and fifth columnists here at home, for condemning the US as not being liked by everyone else.
“Oh, the US is hated throughout the world.”
Instead of making that an issue and making thinking that there IS something wrong with the US, it should be turned around and everyone else should be reprimanded for being out of touch and not taking a stand for what is right and not uniting with the US to eradicate the demonic movement of Islamic Jihad.
Don’t they get it?
There are 1.2 billion Muslims in the world. On the high end there are from 15% to 25% who are violent Jihadis.
That means that from 180 million to 300 million people on planet earth are violent Jihadis. 25%, or 300 million Jihadis are equal to the entire population of the USA, man, woman, child, toddler, and infant!
On the lower ends, 10% of 1.2 billion Jihadis equals 120 million, more than the combined strength of all US police, law enforcement types, including the FBI, DEA, ATF, CIA, NSA, National Guard, and the entire US military, and 120 million Jihadis outnumber more than 10 of the world’s largest armies combined. Combine Australia, Great Britain, the US, China, and India, and the Jihadis still outnumber that combined military number.
5% of 1.2 billion Jihadis is equal to 60 million, still larger than six of the world’s largest militaries combined.
1% of 1.2 billion is equal to 12 million, several times larger than the entire US military.
.5% is equal to 6 million, still more than the US military combined.
Groups of four Jihadis took over aircraft in which the crew and passengers outnumbered them and succeeded in destroying four aircraft and killing 3,000 people. In bombing attacks, IED attacks, and so on, Jihadis kill dozens, and even hundreds at a time.
Imagine, 120 million at 10% to 300 million at 25% can do way more damage, and quite easily, yet the US is gentle about it and taking crap from weaklings who criticize the US when they should be on board!
Let the US show some back bone and turn it around and start mocking and criticizing any and all countries and peoples who make such specious statements which give aid and comfort to the enemy, countries who are not helping to fight this disease of violence and hatred that is Islamic Jihad!
