Snapped Shot punks AlJazeera.com

posted at 3:01 pm on February 6, 2007 by Bryan

Terro-luvin’ network website hotlinks blogger’s pic without asking. Blogger notices, reacts as the unwashed tend to do.

See it live while you can.

(via Ace)

Correction: The website involved in this little caper is Aljazeera.com, not Aljazeera.net. The latter is the site of the terror luvin’ network, the former isn’t. So I had that wrong above. Nevertheless, the comedy is still gold.

Bryan, you may want to re-think that. See below from the other “Aljazeera”:

“Who’s the world’s no.1 terrorist country?”
2/6/2007 9:00:00 AM GMT

1) Which is the only country in the world to have dropped bombs on over twenty different countries since 1945?

2) Which is the only country to have used nuclear weapons?

3) Which country was responsible for a car bomb which killed 80 civilians in Beirut in 1985, in a botched assassination attempt, thereby making it the most lethal terrorist bombing in modern Middle East history?

4) Which country’s illegal bombing of Libya in 1986 was described by the UN Legal Committee as a “classic case” of terrorism?

5) Which country rejected the order of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to terminate its “unlawful use of force” against Nicaragua in 1986, and then vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling on all states to observe international law?

6) Which country was accused by a UN-sponsored truth commission of providing “direct and indirect support” for “acts of genocide” against the Mayan Indians in Guatemala during the 1980s?

7) Which country unilaterally withdrew from the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty in December 2001?

8) Which country renounced the efforts to negotiate a verification process for the Biological Weapons Convention and brought an international conference on the matter to a halt in July 2001?

9) Which country prevented the United Nations from curbing the gun trade at a small arms conference in July 2001?

10) Aside from Somalia, which is the only other country in the world to have refused to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child?

11) Which is the only Western country which allows the death penalty to be applied to children?

12) Which is the only G7 country to have refused to sign the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty, forbidding the use of landmines?

13) Which is the only G7 country to have voted against the creation of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 1998?

14) Which was the only other country to join with Israel in opposing a 1987 General Assembly resolution condemning international terrorism?

15) Which country refuses to fully pay its debts to the United Nations yet reserves its right to veto United Nations resolutions?

– The answer is quite clear and should be a wake up call for all Western powers who persistently reject to unite against the country that has been the foremost cause of troubles globally.

uh, halfway down the aljazeera site, I’m seeing what looks like a pic of the mohammed with a bomb in his turban… I’ve saved it and am posting it at my site in case they take it down.

dalewalt on February 6, 2007 at 3:34 PM

dalewalt, that’s what Snapped Shot did. They replaced the url to point to the mohammed cartoon.

Editor on February 6, 2007 at 3:37 PM

ah… I didn’t read all of the snapped shot post… Nice :-)

dalewalt on February 6, 2007 at 3:41 PM

haha, serves them right for not only being who they are… but for hotlinking! I’ve done this before as well… Let’s say the image I put up was a little les SFW though. And a little more gay. I simply changed the name of the original photo I was using in the post and changed the reference in the post accordingly, then went out and found a disturbing image and named it with the original file name and sat back and laughted my ass off.

One of the comment posters has even pointed out the cartoon to them and it is still there.

Dude I just pulled a muscle laughing. That was the coolest thing … ever.

One Angry Christian on February 6, 2007 at 4:46 PM

I wish he’d change it to a text image like:

+ Al Jazeera thinks Christians know best.
+ Al Jazeera – we love to hate.
+ Can you make up stories? Apply to become an Al Jazeera Journalist!

No one seems to notice the bombhead guy in the comments much :(

Kevin M on February 6, 2007 at 5:08 PM

I can’t believe they haven’t changed that link yet. Good job Brian! Funny stuff.

Fatwas to be issued…

Going on what? 4 hours? I bet they have a room full of people screaming and yelling and foaming at the mouth and no-body knows how to change it. (Must be siesta time someplace)

Limerick on February 6, 2007 at 6:44 PM

Mohabombhead still up, and hilarious as ever. I’m sure it’s cached on Google by now. Someone Tube a pan shot of that article.

My question is: If their office is located in UAE, why is their phone located in the UK? That must be one hell of a long phone cord!

RedinBlueCounty on February 7, 2007 at 5:22 PM

That isn’t terribly uncommon. Most likely they pay fees for a British number that is re-routed to Dubai, just to cater to folks who speak english.
