Because it would make them an international player with a marketable high demand product that they could solely control. They could use it to bring in funds from the industrialized nations and show how generous Islam can be (working through them)to those countries that can fall into line.

I can’t believe you’re not getting raged against by people saying that you were insinuating that AIDS is a “gay disease”… That is something I would say and take the heat for (in so many words), and I’m sure that’s not what you intended, but I’m kind of shocked that no one is unloading on you for it.

That said, don’t we already have drugs that can help control the spread? I could be wrong about that, but if I’m not, then what is the story here?

And by the way, incase anyone shows up to bash Bush on the AIDS issue, perhaps inspired by the rantings of Kerry a few weeks ago (yeah the “international pariah” day). Check this out:

It is my understanding, though I’m having trouble locating the figures (not a surprise considering it’s always difficult to find the hard numbers that show Bush in a better light than Clinton), that he has spent an average of $4 billion per year on AIDS while Clinton spent $1.2 billion.

Regarding Kyoto, it was Clinton who wouldn’t submit and Kerry and friends supported that stance at the time. Bush has only maintained the same policy… Yet now it’s not okay?
