I'm still not buying Wayne Palmer as POTUS. Come on now - the man was only a Chief of Staff. That's it. I just don't believe that a former Chief of Staff would be elected as POTUS, even if he was the brother of a popular former POTUS. That would be like... a former First Lady being elected POTUS. Come on now - that's just ridiculous.

Also, I don't buy that POTUS and VPOTUS would be that vastly different politically. Wayne is clearly a liberal (but the "tough and principled liberal" that all Hollywood writers dream of that seems to exist only on television) and his VP (Powers Booth) is clearly not. I'm not buying it.

So is Rush Limbaugh still a big fan of the show now that a Bush-esque authoritarian is being portrayed as a bad guy and an enemy of our Constitution? They practically had Mark Steyn shot by a terrorist in self defense and convinced the audience that it was a good thing. Why isn't there more backlash? 24 is skewering its fans!

I was ready to give up on this show when it appeared that Jack's father might be one of the good guys and was only duped by Graem. But now that Cromwell is definitely a very bad guy, (like Cromwell himself, IMO) I'll hang in there just to see Jack give him what he deserves. Here's hoping he gets a prolonged 'interrogation'.

I think I've finished with it too. The "bad guys" are (of course!) corporate American white guys. All the Muslims (except fayed and his band of merrymen) are good guys. Frankly, it no longer is interesting at all. I dislike "President Wayne" and his character's incessant pontificating. I can catch up with "Heroes" online and watch it from now on. Too bad...used to really love this show!

Now, that would have been a cool "day", Allie. Which would have made sense in the grander scheme of things. I've never seen NCIS--I'll have to check it out.

The sad part is, I'll keep watching 24 because I'm already so far into it and my neurosis won't allow me to quit viewing it. I hope it gets freakin' better! AARRGHH!!

I honestly think that the terrorism-in-America-angle has run its course. There is only so much you can do with this dead horse. I think maybe Jack needs a change of venue--maybe while vacationing in oh, I don't know...SAUDI ARABIA, he sees some action. Maybe saves some oil lines and chicks from being stoned to death.

I agree with above poster--this whole ultra-rightwing patriotic "save the country from itself" crap is wearing thin.

i’m really pretty sick of this “the bad guys are super-patriots who start terror crises to to provoke america to ’stand up’.”

jummy on February 5, 2007 at 10:28 PM

A-freakin'-men to that. Along with the moles, this is really becoming a grossly overused plot device in this series.

I'm also not buying that the best anti-terror agent in the world comes from a family in which his father and weasly brother are terrorist masterminds.

This season is really weak so far. Maybe they've just ran out of ideas.

I've been a big fan of the show, but this season just isn't cutting it. When the suitcase nuke went off--that was sorta the climax. Who really cares what happens now? The storyline is weak and is more akin to a soap opera. So far, this season ranks right up there with ABC's "Lost"--not too great.

I must say this season so far has been a let down for me. Seriously, a kinder, gentler Jack? I guess being held prisoner in a communist country turned him into a socialist. ha-ha

There have been way too many lines in this years season that are right off the DNC talking points page about Bush. Last night i can recall the VP talking to the president about making a "unilateral" decision? Please, may as well be watching an episode of Hard Ball with Chris brain dead.

Better pick up the pace quick. Palmer version 2 is a candy a_s and his sister is just annoying.

But then I catch myself and say It's a fickin television show!

Hmm it doesn't look like my post went through. I won't get into the details I did, then. So I'll keep it quick:

Since when is HotAir in the business of endorsing liberal propaganda? Um, kind of hard not to notice these days in 24 land, isn't it? What with the president's diatribe about "policy of fear" and "the american muslim community being our greatest hope and ally" or something along those lines, and the Darth evil conservative VP being introduced. Come on folks, it's time to accept it: 24 has jumped the shark, and it has become blatant political propaganda for liberal positions. I am not a conservative version of Keith Olbermann--I am not paranoid or see politics in everything--but again, it really is hard not to notice. Stop looking the other way and accept it.

I'm officially done. I was giving it one last shot tonight, but the president's diatribe towards the end made the decision very easy. In the past couple episodes it has gone from left-leaning to outright liberal propaganda. I am disgusted with the misrepresentation of these issues, and their portrayal of supposed conservative positions. And when I thought this couldn't get any worse they introduce this Darth VP war-mongering evil conservative? Give me a break. This isn't worth my time anymore. Good luck with all of you who will put up with this shit for the next three months. I find it odd how people can lose their political radars when watching an overtly political tv show, but catch every slight little bias in a cable news show that doesn't get a 100th the viewership, nor 100th the influence on people's opinions and worldviews. And if you think tv shows don't craft people's opinions, you are naive.

And even though from a purely entertainment/tv show standpoint it saved itself towards the end with the two twists, I won't watch this anymore. I dropped Boston Legal (a GREAT show without the overt politics) for the same reason, and must do the same here if I am to stay true to my principles.

And damn it would be nice if we could haven a Palmer in the White House in ‘08

David Palmer yes, Wayne Palmer no. Wayne is a crapweasel; Season 4 he was all about shady deals and doing the top moneymans wife. That may be cool for you Gavin Newsom fans, but I say Wayne is lame.

One other random thought; as long as we keep having the theme of psychotic VP's who suck and want to rule the world through convoluted attacks on their own country, why not have one who's a rabid environmentalist? He could be a big animal rights guy too; maybe his plot would involve prison camps for (insert oppressed American group here) guarded by damn dirty apes.

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - Disguised in a dark wig, glasses and a trench coat, U.S. space shuttle astronaut Lisa Nowak waited in hiding for a woman she considered a rival for another astronaut's affections and tried to kidnap her, police in Orlando said on Monday.

I was really hoping the Bauer story line would peter out round about the time Jack took a toilet plunger to graem's face and sucked his brain out the Norris way. But..noooooo. We've got more angles with Dad. We've got everything being done for the good of the company...I feel like Austin Powers and the mini clone is kicking me in the face the more I watch this...please...no more!
I could handle Jack having relations with Graem's wife and making a mini-Jack. No problem. But more tangles with dad..Graem resisting interrogation..indefinitely. I wanted more....chicks, guns, firetrucks..pizzazz.
Now the one saving grace was the Morris subplot. that surprised me a little and that was cool. I'm holding out a thin hope that part of his coercion will involve him shooting Milo...or..anybody shooting milo. This season has the worst set of characters...I hate all of them except Bill, Jack and Chloe. With Scifi doing 3 hours of Enterprise on Mondays, I'm going to have a real hard time staying loyal this season. They need a good character transplant..fast.

This season has been kinda weak so far, short on action for sure. It looks like things could get interesting next week though, I agree the Morris subplot is juicy.

And damn it would be nice if we could haven a Palmer in the White House in '08.

Tonite was much better than last week. Next week we get two hours. I think Morris as the kidnapped engineer could be interesting.

...plot point. perhaps that can be better stated, but last year it was the same thing with the president and his advisor allowing/causing a terrorist crisis for some nebulous "best interests of the country". this year it's a defense firm.

last year, to put it in blunt terms, the hero had to hijack an airliner because the president is the real terrorist.

Season 6 started-off well enough, but has quickly devolved into episodes of multiple shark jumping, and CAIR approved dialog.
