Video: “The View” spins for Joe Biden

posted at 4:32 pm on February 2, 2007 by Allahpundit

What a nice guy and true champion of civil liberties this Democratic hero is. Why, he’s never met an Indian behind the counter at 7/11 that he didn’t like.

Which moment is more cringeworthy? Walters and Behar dropping the racist backhanded compliment of articulateness on Al Sharpton mere moments after Barbara’s eyes widened at the word while reading Biden’s quote? Or Rosie’s impassioned plea for people to stop reading so much into idle comments after she demagogued the hell out of Kelly Ripa in November for having objected to a (probably) gay man’s hand on her mouth?

Thanks to Newsbusters for ringing the bell on this one.

I knew I shouldn’t have watched this…I knew it. Chemo this morning, now rosie running off at the mouth. It took a little work, but give those libs credit….they converted biden’s belittling attitude and turned it into a George Bush insult. WOW….I must go get some zofran for this nausea building up.

still468 on February 2, 2007 at 4:38 PM

I’ve stopped watching all “The View” clips. Jabba doesn’t really have anything to contribute.

JeffB. on February 2, 2007 at 4:44 PM

Why, Allah, why? The Spew has become the epitome of leftists house-wife indoctrination propaganda.

If the Fairness Doctrine were instituted would someone come out and muzzel Rosie and Joy long enough for Elizabeth to get a word in?

NTWR on February 2, 2007 at 4:46 PM

I guess bringing Rosie into this gives a new meaning to “the soft bigotry of low expectations.”

Could she be more disgusting?

thirteen28 on February 2, 2007 at 4:48 PM

The Vomitorium

SilverStar830 on February 2, 2007 at 4:55 PM

I don’t know why I watch that stuff because I always feel dirty during and after. They don’t make water hot enough to get me completely clean. (Perhaps I should consult Obama)

x95b10 on February 2, 2007 at 4:56 PM

Sigh…. Thursday or Friday already?

Seems that Rosie picks a fight with someone about the same time every week. Its how the View tries to prop up its ratings.

CrazyFool on February 2, 2007 at 4:56 PM

Man, so all I have to do is self-identify as a liberal and I could have been promoting retrograde stereotypes with impunity this whole time?

I must say though, after watching that clip, I’m impressed at how articulate and well-groomed Rosie is. And butch.

Enrique on February 2, 2007 at 5:01 PM

Conjugate the verbs correctly? Articulate, bright and clean were used as adjectives. Rosie’s an idiot.

Hehehe.

Allahpundit on February 2, 2007 at 5:16 PM

Why do I even bother to watch these clips? they always try to ruin my day. at least I can turn her off. I can’t imagine having to live with her. ick.

pullingmyhairout on February 2, 2007 at 5:22 PM

I wish Hasselbeck had a spine. I wish she would get in that fat slime’s face and make her answer the question.

FABULOUS!

PinkyBigglesworth on February 2, 2007 at 5:33 PM

And the liberals wanted Trent Lott hanged and quartered for his remarks…much more innocuous than Bidens…at Strom Thurmond’s party…

(not so) Rosie wouldn’t be one of them thar hypocrites now, would she? Kelly Ripa is a homophobe, and Biden “meant no harm” and his words were “spun”…

JetBoy on February 2, 2007 at 5:49 PM

I must say though, after watching that clip, I’m impressed at how articulate and well-groomed Rosie is

Really? Well-groomed? When I look at that oinker on TV, I swear I can smell the Bad Combo of body odor, ‘leavings’, Wal-Mart cologne, and stale food…

and I’ve seen birds with a better-assmebled nest than that fat broad’s hair

Janos Hunyadi on February 2, 2007 at 5:53 PM

The thing about PC that infuriates me is that people are given passes based on who the listener(s) think that person is.

The ladies of the View decided that Joe Biden couldn’t possibly be racist, so, they don’t think his comments were racist. And yet, they don’t know…..Biden might secretly be a horrible racist, yet, for political expediency, he keeps it to himself, usually.

All they are really saying is that, if you vote for affirmative action, unions, and more money for charity/medicare/etc you have a free pass to say whatever you want about black people.

I think Elizabeth brought up a good point that they brushed off with a Bush insult….which, as nosliwelyk pointed out, was a poorly executed insult since the words in question were not verbs as Rosie said.

Nice.
Do you think that we held Rosie down and water-boarded her, we could make her tell us the difference between a noun and a verb?

Hitchens is right: jokes about GWB’s intelligence are for stupid people to feel better about themselves.

vermin – noun
1. an irritating or obnoxious person

Entelechy on February 2, 2007 at 6:14 PM

I’ve matured. Consequently, I’m NOT going to watch this one either. It’s Friday, a nice weekend ahead, why foul my mind with Rosie? I’m still trying to purge Paris from the memory banks…

Scotsman on February 2, 2007 at 6:19 PM

Thankfully I don’t watch this crap..by any chance did the remarks by Dem Rep. Joe Baca calling Dem Rep. Loretta Sanchez a whore come up?..if it did I sure Rosie and company would either find a way to ignore it or blame Bush.

mlong on February 2, 2007 at 6:19 PM

Yeah and what about Hillary and her talk about Gandhi-”you know, he owns a gas station” etc, etc…

NTWR on February 2, 2007 at 6:31 PM

What would have been the reaction had George Bush said this?

Macaca, please.

JackStraw on February 2, 2007 at 7:15 PM

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it roughly a dozen other times here:

“Barbara Walters, in my opinion, rues the day she put that animal on her show.”

RightWinged on February 2, 2007 at 7:25 PM

The companion thread is the one with the female conservative commentator on CNN who compared the Biden incident with the Limbaugh/McNabb incident several years ago. Rush wasn’t making a rip on McNabb, he was ripping on the MSM and their desire to elevate McNabb because of the color of his skin and not his ability. Rush did not think McNabb was that talented a QB.

Now, could you EVER see Rosie and friends defending Limbaugh in the same manner as they are defending Biden? (It’s a rhetorical question.)

Mallard T. Drake on February 2, 2007 at 8:02 PM

It is another sad day for HotAir with yet another Rosie posting. Is there not enough valid bad news to post here without this lame idiot?

Wade on February 2, 2007 at 8:14 PM

AllahPundit keeps posting this stuff under the guise of the whole RDS thing (Rosie Derangement Syndrome). I, however, have a sneaking suspicion that the REAL reason that he likes to post this stuff is so that he can see what Lizzy is wearing. Can’t say as I blame him. She was showing quite a bit of skin in this segment. Anybody notice besides me? What in blazes were they talking about again?

CyberCipher on February 2, 2007 at 8:25 PM

Why hasn’t Rosie been fired yet????????????

Mellen on February 2, 2007 at 8:44 PM

Sarah Silverman appeared later on this episode to promote her new Comedy Central show.

Let me just say first that I really enjoy Sarah’s work. That aside, I found it interesting to note how they all found her repeated use of the N-bomb not only acceptable but downright adorable.

It’s no secret that Sarah enjoys pushing the politically-incorrect envelope, but I’ve always thought it odd how no one ever appears to challenge her on it.

Has anyone realized that Joe was giving Obama a compiment? It’s not like he was saying that Obama was dirty. He didn’t say that all blacks are dirty. This was a misstep in his words, and it upsets me to think that all of our words have to be pondered and written by speech writers. He is a clean, articulate person. That doesn’t meen that I would ever vote for him. He’s a liar, and a political newbee, not to mention an ultra-liberal. I saw the Illinois senatorial debate that got him the job. Don’t think that he is a moderate by any meens. No, he is for abortion, and against the fair tax… I believe his exact words were “It is a recessive tax system that puts the tax burden on the middle class.” He has no voting record and he doesn’t have the credentials to lead this country. The fact remains though, he is a clean articulate person.

The saddest part of all of this is that Barbara Walters, one of the most respected female journalists on TV today, is losing that respectect more everyday Rosie is on her show.

Am I the only person who thinks that “clean” wasn’t meant “physically lacking dirt”?

I took it to mean “deft,” and “not carrying baggage.” A smooth operator. Someone without any skeletons in his closet (as of yet). I’m usually the first one to point out left-wing racism (e.g. affirmative action), but people are really overreacting to Biden here. The comments were a compliment. Not a backhanded compliment. A genuine compliment. Drudge et al are taking his words out of context and twisting their meaning.

This is true. Never the less, I still think we all scored big when Donal Trump delivered the line I quoted above.

The more we dwell on this kind of crap the more any real issue gets ignored. If the conservative movement doesn’t recapture the image of being the ones who are focused and tireless workers toward answers to problems… well, it’s probably already too late for ’08. I still can’t believe we had the power to fix and they let them stop everything good. Couple judges… big deal. Tax cuts that are going to expire. Small steps I guess.

No way an independent modern in thought could be swayed to vote conservative by pointing fingers and having a politically charged racsism discussion about a dip-nobody senator’s words. That’s their game plan. You want 12 years on the bottom step? I wonder if it’ll make us as sckitzy as it has them?

And speaking of politically correct, while we’re at it, either we’ll wise up and flush the politically correct bullsh__ declaring this war is with islam or get ready for the buses to start exploding. They’re coming and they’re so going to be able to use this PC wedge against us.

Isn’t it apparent to everyone at this point… remember when we were told… worse case 10% of all islam are against us. Well folks… It’s been decided. 90% of all islam are against us. Or at the very least assumption… not with us.

still468,

I’m sorry to hear that your sick. My mother passed away last August from lung, bone, and brain cancer. She never smoked, it started in her lungs, and spread into her back and brain. They put her on Iressa and that worked wonders for a couple of years. Then it stopped working and it was all downhill from there. She squeezed out three years with stage four lung cancer. Ain’t bad. She was a tough lady.

Anyway, I hope your problem isn’t anywhere as bad my mother’s. Stick to the chemo regimen and I’ll say a prayer for you.

I can’t imagine it’s easy to defend your position when the rest of the panel is composed of chimps slinging crap. Especially when one of them weighs four hundred pounds and threatens to sit on you frequently. Anyway, I have no further comment because I didn’t, and won’t watch the clip.

Regardless, I have to say that this show is quickly becoming more sleazy than the Jerry Springer show.

Wolfman on February 3, 2007 at 5:05 AM

Am I the only person who thinks that “clean” wasn’t meant “physically lacking dirt”?

No. I thought he meant we don’t know of any bribes he’s taken, unlike Kofi and Kojo Annan, William “Cold Cash” Jefferson, Alcee Hastings, or other black folks who abused their political power. (Or whites who have done so, but he did specifically refer to race.)

Now he didn’t come right out and say that; maybe he meant that there are other black politicians who are clean and good-looking, but not articulate, or clean and articulate but not good-looking. Or clean, good-looking and articulate, but not black.

There is no way to read what he said that isn’t insulting, unless you have a double standard that treats Lott and Limbaugh as automatically guilty of being racists when they mention race, but give a pass to Dems.

1. No; Allah is right there with you I think.

2. You took the word “clean” to mean “deft”. Here, I can’t tell if that’s sarcasm. Help me.

3. No; I don’t think anyone believes that you’re “the first person” to decry leftist racism, Mark.

4. Is English new to you, or is this another satirical AllahPundit play on “nuance”? Biden’s intention may have been to compliment Obama; I didn’t read any claim to the contrary here. The issue is how his comments exposed a hilarious bigotry toward blacks, by separating Obama from all other black men who have run for public office as noteworthy for his articulation, cleanliness, and good looks.

From my viewpoint, it is as if Biden were looking directly at Al Sharpton when thinking of what to say, and still he comes up with something more negative and insulting than I ever would have…and I couldn’t think much less of Sharpton. But I certainly don’t think he’s unclean, and no less than John Derbyshire has acclaimed him the best political orator in America.

Biden is an idiot who has no idea what’s going to come out of his mouth, even at the instant that he opens it.

Why do you social liberal Republicans go to such weird lengths to pardon his ilk?

Jaibones on February 3, 2007 at 12:04 PM

I think Biden said exactly what he was thinking., Obama is relatively politically clean compared to Jackson and Sharpton. If he was a man of conviction he would stick by it. I see no problem here but to the P.C. world of insanity.

Grayzel on February 3, 2007 at 12:27 PM

Because THEY ARE RAAAAAACIST. Republicans – wake up.

He meant exactly what he said. “He cleans up well”. “He has a business suit”. “He doesn’t have gold teeth”. “He doesn’t have a fro or dreads”. “His pants aren’t baggy”.

“Articulate” was enough. That he is good looking seems to be an unusual trait – to him.

Republicans better get some black folks out in front to “keep it real”. We need a few bull dogs to take it to them.

The Dems have Sharpton and Jackson, who they know will never hold public office – but they sick ‘em on us every chance they get. We need to get Alan Keyes (with the understanding that we will only make him rich) to do a beat down.

As a black Republican/Conservative, I say this for the record – my fellows it is time for a “race war” with the Democrats. “Soft Bigotry” was the smallest of starts. This intimidated Democrats greatly. Recalling Lincoln will not do anymore.

Agrippa2k on February 3, 2007 at 2:42 PM

They all laughed and applauded Rosie O’Donnel’s arrogant, mean spirited reply to Elizabeth’s question in which Elizabeth asked if George Bush would have been championed had he said what Biden said.

The more I see and hear Rosie’s comments the more dishonest, bias, prejudiced, and mean spirited she appears to be.

Self righteous, arrogant, egotistic, foul mouthed, nasty, rude, disrespectful, callous, offensive celebrity.

No, it’s what the dictionary says under “clean.”

The issue is how his comments exposed a hilarious bigotry toward blacks, by separating Obama from all other black men who have run for public office as noteworthy for his articulation, cleanliness, and good looks.

How many black men have run for president? How many matched Obama with regards to the attributes Biden mentioned?
