The Democratic National Committee is in the midst of its winter meeting. Here’s the convocation for today’s festivities, offered by an imam.
Transcript:
We thank you god, to bless us among your creations. We thank you, god, to make us a great nation. We thank you, god toss send us your messages through our father Abraham, and Jesus and Mohammed, through you, god, we unite, so guide us to the right spot we wish for peace, equality and help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation. (emphasis added)
Update (Bryan): We have an ID on the imam. I emailed Robert Spencer and according to him, this fellow is Husham Al-Husainy, Imam of the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center, a Shi’ite mosque in Dearborn, Michigan. Robert has quite a bit more about the prayer over at Jihad Watch.
Update (Ian): Debbie Schlussel provides more information on Al-Husainy, including his involvement in pro-Hezbollah and anti-Semitic activities:
This past summer, Al-Husainy seemed very happy leading almost-daily protests of thousands of Hezbollah supporters on the streets of Dearborn and Detroit, swarming with swastikas and anti-Semitic, anti-American signs.
Later, I watched him very much enjoy himself at an anti-Semitic rally of 3,000 Hezbollah supporters at Dearborn’s Bint Jebail Cultural Center. He was among several who delivered hate-filled, anti-American rhetoric. I watched him cheer others on when they called for the hastened destruction of the Jews and when they said Americans are “diseased.”

This slipped right by me. If you click on Robert Spencer’s link (which I highly recommend) a very astute commentator notes this particular part of the “prayer”:
“So guide us to the right path. The path of the people you bless, not the path of the people you doom.”
And has this really scary analysis:
Hes talking to you, dims, its islamospeak but you probably don’t comprehend his message. The blessed=them, the doomed=everyone else…

Well, well. His reference to “the people you bless” does not include Christians or Jews, folks – only Muslims. NOTICE which party endorses that view, and remember it on Election Day.
SpartRan on February 2, 2007 at 10:00 PM
Dhimmicrats is right.
“So guide us to the right path. The path of the people you bless, not the path of the people you doom.”
SpartRan,
I noticed that^^^ scary line from Robert Spencer’s link^^. It slipped right by me until an astute commentator pointed it out.
The problem is that we can remember this on election day, but who else will? The Left are too busy bashing Christians to notice that the Islamists are at the door with a sword in their hand.

You honor me sir, I have not laughed like that since the comments of Nancy Pelosi’s blinking rage.
Write on, Jaibones……. Write ON
PinkyBigglesworth on February 2, 2007 at 11:10 PM
Your right. I’m not holding my breath. The Republican Party never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
The Dhimmicrats know that radical chic plays well with their base, and are confident most other people will not remember this after the Super Bowl, and certainly not after the American Idol finale.

Wait a second. A room full of Democrats stood behind the concept that there exist people who are doomed? “Inclusiveness” has come a long way.

Tribute to Soothsayer
It was wrong to remove Soothsayer from the site. Hot Air was better off with him than without him. He was not a troll and he made no attempt to hi-jack threads. His writing style was forceful and provocative but not to the point that reasonable people should have been offended. There was occasional profanity but it was well offset my good logic and strong points. Soothsayer was a prolific and thoughtful writer and he served Hot Air quite well. While I didn’t always agree with his point of view I will sorely miss his commentary.
Here is everything Soothsayer had to say on Hot Air, decide for yourself.

You and def ref need to stay away from cliffs and sharp objects, Coyote. “Never” statements are universal statements, and universals are always false. Republicans USUALLY screw up and USUALLY miss opportunities and USUALLY look gift horses in the mouth, but……..
Whadya gonna do–Dig up Ross Perot, and vote for him?
The first time that People Who SHould Have Known Better did that, the result was Clinton. His evil spouse is still with us
Janos Hunyadi on February 2, 2007 at 11:32 PM
They are usually flase, but the Republican Party leadership is quite gifted in this department. They actually have the power to make the absolute statement possible. I still vote for them. I know the alternative.
Coyote D. on February 3, 2007 at 12:42 AM
A bit off topic: Hannity on Fox is showing the undercover tape of what is going on in Mosques in Britain, interview with Melanie Phillips, put on more than once. It will be interesting to see Muslim and Islamofacist response.
omegaram on February 3, 2007 at 12:44 AM
I will miss his commmentary too, but only from the standpoint of it raising the challenge of a thoughtful Christian rebuttal to his virulent judgemental rants, of which there turned out to be way too many… (right Allah?)
infidel4life on February 3, 2007 at 2:19 AM
Bob seems to be demonstrating, once again, that his interpretations of Islam are flawed; he takes a single interpretation and ascribes it to the entire spectrum of muslim belief.
It is high time people stopped using to the likes of Bob as their sole source for information on an undoubtedly, highly important topic. He is biased, unqualified and prone to error. Read, learn and absorb for yourselves, using a broad range of REAL sources – not hack ‘bloggers’.

While that scum should be taken away and put in a dark hole, filled with gasoline,,, I don’t like being associated with somone being called godless. I don’t believe in god (religion is a mass mental illness) and I am not calling for the destruction of the jews… it seems to me the people that ae insane killing terrorists are the god believers… don’t throw us (non-believers) in the pot with the terrorists and their lovers…

It may well be that the Republicans do not (or cannot bring them selves to) take advantage of this fauxpas by the Democrats.
Just like the Republicans were afraid to tackle Kerry on his war record and purple heart medals.
It took the Swift Boat Veterans and a book co-written by one of them to bring the truth about John Kerry’s record of lying about his “heroism” and his self-inflicted wounds during Vietnam. It was this band of 250 or so brothers who served with him in ‘Nam to FORCE the public to confront the truth about Kerry. The Republicans did asbsolutely squat, until the Swiftboaters got the momentum going.
[Say, did you know that John Kerry served in Vietnam? 4 months!]
It may take another group of people outside of the Republican Party to bring THIS to the public’s attention. We are collectively stronger now than in 2004. We have more serious bloggers, we have more serious and widely read “new media” news sites. In spite of Kucinich’s scheming, there will be no new fairness doctrine in place to prevent talk radio from speaking out (the court challenge will take YEARS to settle, even if the Democrats could override a presidential veto).
Hot Air and michellemalkin.com and powerline and Hewitt’s blog and Diehl and gatewaypundit and macranger and AJ Strata and Drudge and Rush and Hannity, and Ingrahm and Tammy can help insure that THIS story — about the Democrats using a KNOWN JIHIDIST and Jew Hater to give the opening prayer, where he prayed for America, “the occupiers” to be defeated — receives wide distribution.
This story needs to be told, daily, from January 2008 through election day.

After reading this, I find that I have to renounce my membership in the Democratic Party. As one of a dying breed of conservative Democrat, I kept hoping that the party would rediscover its soul that seems to have been lost with the loss of men such as Truman, Humphrey, and Scoop Jackson. But I’ve found that that hope was a fool’s hope. The Democratic Party has aligned itself with those who would destroy our civilization and our lives. The DNC has declared its alliances and its leadership will join other historical figures such as Neville Chamberlain, Vidkun Quisling, and Henri Petain. Were I to continue my association in this morally and spiritually bankrupt party, I could not look at myself in the mirror.
That being said, for our system to continue working, we need a working loyal opposition to the Republican Party. I pray that that party will soon emerge, because the Democratic Party has abdicated that role most shamefully.

Are you referring to Robert Spencer?? If so, are you calling him a “hack” blogger? If that is indeed the case, I reject your interpretation and ask that you state some specifics as to where Robert Spencer has offered a “flawed” interpretation of Islam.
Zorro on February 3, 2007 at 10:12 AM
What mosque do you go to eminuu?
Robert Spencer does NOT “interpret” Islam. He simply reports what is written in the Koran.
Listening to defenders of the ROP reminds of the movie “Mars Attacks”. The scientist invents a translation machine so that the humans can converse with the “peaceful” visitors from Mars. Later in the movie, the martians are using it to calm the masses as they destroy them. “Don’t run! We are your friends!” ZAAAAAP!!!!
All of the Koranic verses and surra and hadiths calling for the destruction of the Jews and subjugation of the non-muslims REALLY mean: Don’t run! We are your friends! Right?
All of those sermons recorded by the british press in “moderate” mosques REALLY meant:Don’t run! We are your friends! Right?
During the dutch cartoon “controversy”, all of those signs being carried by the “protesters” calling for the death of the cartoonists REALLY meant:Don’t run! We are your friends! Right?
The teachings of Islam are VERY clear. Convert to Islam or pay the Jizya or die. Which I guess REALLY means:Don’t run! We are your friends! Right?
Thanks for straightening that out for me.

I wonder if eminuu would be so kind as to give us a specific example of where Robert Spencer was wrong. If not, then its clear that eminuu is the “hack blogger.”
Maxx on February 3, 2007 at 12:03 PM
Eminuu has joined the many critics of my work who assert its factual flaws without providing even a single example of my alleged errors. Pardon me if I am skeptical. In fact, although I quoted only from Ibn Kathir in my explanation at Jihad Watch of the Imam’s prayer, this is not a lone “extremist” interpretation. In fact, most Muslim commentators believe that the Jews are those who have earned Allah’s wrath and the Christians are those who have gone astray. This is the view of Tabari, Zamakhshari, the Tafsir al-Jalalayn, the Tanwir al-Miqbas min Tafsir Ibn Abbas, and Ibn Arabi, as well as Ibn Kathir. One contrasting, but not majority view, is that of Nisaburi, who says that “those who have incurred Allah’s wrath are the people of negligence, and those who have gone astray are the people of immoderation.”
Wahhabis drew criticism a few years back for adding “such as the Jews” and “such as the Christians” into parenthetical glosses on this passage in Qur’ans printed in Saudi Arabia. Some Western commentators imagined that the Saudis originated this interpretation, when in fact it is venerable and mainstream in Islamic theology.

Apparently , the Imam has made at least one conversion already:
Tom Vilsack: “Congress has the constitutional responsibility and a moral duty to cut off funding for the status quo. Not a cap — an end. Not eventually — immediately.” .

Thank you, Mr. Spencer. From now on, when a so-called “moderate” Muslim imam speaks, I will bet he will be uncovered as an extremist within one day.
It’s good that we are getting better and faster at this.

dingoatemebaby on February 3, 2007 at 4:26 PM
This again raises the question, is there such a thing as a moderate muslim, or imam, or islamic prayer? Is islam at it’s core incompatible with American values, or more specifically acceptance of upholding and defending the constitution? A muslim can’t pine for sharia and want constitutional democracy both. I envision a “moderate muslim” as one who is truly secular or emigrates to the west because they recognize that islam makes their native country unlivable and wants protection from sharia law. They’re just not yet ready to bail on allah yet. Couldn’t the democrats find anyone better? I don’t know.
Buck Turgidson on February 3, 2007 at 4:29 PM
I, for one, want to thank Mr. Spencer.
I will not be afraid to admit it, that I have been so castrated by the PC Left over the years, that I could not be offended by anyone, including those who preached my extermination, to even raise a voice of objetion, for fear of being labeled a racists, hayter, homofobe, and God forbide, the worst of all, “an angry white male republican” {screams from the all corners of the globe}.
It was too convenient to just go about my day, being blamed for everything, paying all the bills for illegals, and removing all symbols of Christianity from around my neck, my home, and my Nation.
Islam, I was told, was the religion of Peace. All the current slavery, dictatorship, oppression, subjugation of women, terroist acts, violence in the name of Allah, were my fault, since I am only a “Kaffar”?, after all.
I am not so enlightened as the Democrat Party to have Imam Husham Al-Husainy openly speak of my destruction, while they bow their heads in tollerance and reverence.
Too nuanced for me.

Pinky!
Don’t run! We are your friends!
Robert Spencer puts his life in danger EVERY time he speaks. Certainly he would not do such a thing for a lie.
Funny thing about these imams. They get red-handed saying something that promotes jihad and then they stand there and say, “NOPE! I DID NOT SAY THAT THING THAT YOU RECORDED ME SAYING!”
“Who ya’ gonna’ believe? ME? Or your lying tape recorder?”
Don’t run! We are your friends!

Maybe I should have not been so sarcastic.
I truly do rely on Mr. Spencer for giving me a clear view and understanding into what exactly is going on.

My apologies if I confused anyone.

Wow–Robert Spencer *and* Debbie Schlussel posting on HA?
They are like giants to me! We are honored.
What struck me was how this guy prayed for the “oppression and occupation” to end at the end of the meeting, meaning after future President Hillary had just declared that it would indeed, because I’m sure he means the war in Iraq, among other places, although these Islamist nutters won’t be happy until the whole world has submitted to Islam and shari’a.

And again, the moment Christ is mentioned in public prayer, the democrats all get out their cell phones and get ahold of an ACLU attorney. But let some minister of a false and evil religion “pray” over them, and they all bow and nod their heads.
The old saying is true, the world knows its own.

Last night on the Fox news Special “In Their own Words”, a show about what the the radical Islamics are saying, E D Hill performed, I guess what can now be classified as a death defying act, by showing some of the dreaded Moh ham head cartoon in the background during one segment. The imam at the end described as a moderate never could quite bring himself to condemn the scenes depicted in all of the clips shown that sputed hate and propaganda against the Jews and America.
To anybody who is regular visitor to sites such as LGF (Little Green Footballs) none of what was shown was really news but it is good to see at least one of the major news organizations take a stab at making the public wake up. CNN has Glenn Beck doing the same thing.

Debbie Schlussel’s photo caption says “Shi’ite American Imam Husham Al-Husainy”. My question: is he actually an American citizen or here on a Visa?
Dave Shay on February 4, 2007 at 9:46 AM
if he’s here on visa can we build him a custom made ejector seat to send him back to the great muslim mother land from whence he came?
One Angry Christian on February 4, 2007 at 11:58 AM
This was a disgusting display of literal dhimmitude, and the hypocrisy over the whole “church and state” issue is staggering even by normal standards of Democrat hypocrisy.
As for Soothsayer, he’s the kind of Christian that turns non-churchgoers off of Christianity. All the shouting didn’t help any either.

Wouldn’t it be nice?
Emmett J. on February 4, 2007 at 6:03 PM
I know that it’s off topic, but I have to ask AllahPundit one more time.
I would be among the last to object to Soothsayer being banned, or to defend his often egregiously judgemental rants. But I honestly don’t see how what he wrote in this thread is more hateful than what he has posted many times before. Exactly what line did he cross that he never crossed before, in say his hatred of homosexuals, or his hatred of Catholics? Why now? I keep wondering if someone’s personal ox was gored, but I believe you to have thicker skin, so there must be a better reason. ??
Freelancer on February 5, 2007 at 1:20 AM
I’m actually encouraged by this!!!!
I only hope there are alternative camera angles of the clip which include actual Dem candidates nodding in agreement as this ass hat speaks.
Like Joe Biden et al, it shows that libs, when left to their own devises, will find a way to lose – usually by invoking that age old liberal foot-n-mouth disease, better known as letting what they really believe slip out of their cake hole.
Alden Pyle on February 5, 2007 at 9:29 AM
As one who claims that “the Jews are the root of all evil,” preventing what would otherwise be an “absolutely wonderful” relationship between Christians and Muslims, I wonder what the all-knowing, all-seeing Imam Al-Husainy has to say about his Muslim brothers who decapitated three defenseless Christian schoolgirls in Indonesia (photos of which were carried on Michelle’s site several months ago) – or about the fact that it always seems to be OPEC (not Israel) that conveniently plays (or threatens) the “oil card” whenever the Americans are pissing them off. This guy’s a poster child for the Dhimmicrats? Seems to me that’s the one ad that the RNC needs to run non-stop going into November 08.
SpartRan on February 5, 2007 at 9:56 AM
I agree, as one that has been attacked by his nonsense, I think it is important to have people like him, just to remember that there is a segment in our conservative (and religious) movement that we are embarrassed about. However, his rants are not any worse than others (maybe you were just fed up). His words are inflammatory, but the meaning of other liberal bloggers are just as wrong. There is one liberal blogger, when they think someone is wrong, starts off with a demeaning name calling comment. They have never been corrected, and has posted some very strange and wrong comments. Because they use more acceptable words you give them a pass, but it is the meaning that should be analyzed.

Allah, it is your forum but I think kicking off Soothsayer is wrong. I think many of us enjoyed his commentary and I do not understand why he was kicked off.
He did not say anything that Debbie Schlussel or many other pundits have said. Debbie has written extensively about this guy over the years.

Unfortunately, he is a naturalized U.S. citizen, despite his ties to Iran and Khomeini. He came here as an Iraqi engineer on a visa (I’m told it was a visitor’s/tourist visa, but I’m still researching it). He was able to get a green card and citizenship as an asylee. It all happened b/c we were not and still are not careful about who we let in. And that’s why things will only get worse.
Hmmm . . . I wonder how long until I hear these facts uttered by Sean Hannity as “his” work.

Debbie Schlussel on February 8, 2007 at 3:52 PM
While I do not know that we can say that Al-Husainy IS a terrorist, it depends how you define the term. He is very clearly tied to the govt. of Iran and is believed (by me and some fed law enforcement here) to be an agent of the Govt. of Iran, a terrorist host naiton. He is a supporter of Moqtada Al-Sadr, Hezbollah, and HAMAS, all terrorists. Does he funnel money to them through his mosque? There have been questions about that, but we don’t know for sure. He is definitely a terrorist-sympathizer.
Debbie Schlussel on February 8, 2007 at 3:55 PM

I agree and think the evidence shows that this guy is a terrorist or supports terrorists.
IMHO if you support terrorists you are just as bad or maybe even worse than the guy that presses the button on the explosives.
Kudos Debbie for having the courage to go to those rallies so that the rest of us would know what this guy is doing “behind the scenes”.
It is too bad the FBI is asleep at the wheel in Dearborn.

I’m right there with you–if you support terrorists, you are as bad as being one (and are a potential one)–and will likely help them. Same difference. On the same page with you. Looking up at the comments, I think the reason the guy was banned was because of the ethnic epithet.
