The Democratic National Committee is in the midst of its winter meeting. Here’s the convocation for today’s festivities, offered by an imam.

Transcript:

We thank you god, to bless us among your creations. We thank you, god, to make us a great nation. We thank you, god toss send us your messages through our father Abraham, and Jesus and Mohammed, through you, god, we unite, so guide us to the right spot we wish for peace, equality and help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation. (emphasis added)

Update (Bryan): We have an ID on the imam. I emailed Robert Spencer and according to him, this fellow is Husham Al-Husainy, Imam of the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center, a Shi’ite mosque in Dearborn, Michigan. Robert has quite a bit more about the prayer over at Jihad Watch.

Update (Ian): Debbie Schlussel provides more information on Al-Husainy, including his involvement in pro-Hezbollah and anti-Semitic activities:

This past summer, Al-Husainy seemed very happy leading almost-daily protests of thousands of Hezbollah supporters on the streets of Dearborn and Detroit, swarming with swastikas and anti-Semitic, anti-American signs.

Later, I watched him very much enjoy himself at an anti-Semitic rally of 3,000 Hezbollah supporters at Dearborn’s Bint Jebail Cultural Center. He was among several who delivered hate-filled, anti-American rhetoric. I watched him cheer others on when they called for the hastened destruction of the Jews and when they said Americans are “diseased.”

At least the DNC is being honest about who they lay with now.

Has anybody identified the lady who had her head bowed? Why didn’t she just go all the way and get down on her knees and bump her forehead on the ground? Oh wait this was a mixed crowd. Why didn’t the cell leader imam separate them first into men and woman on separate sides of the room?

LakeRuins on February 2, 2007 at 3:01 PM

Putting this Godless scumbag in front of a bunch of Godless idiots makes perfect sense.

Anybody figure out who this Cat is yet? Looked for an agenda but all I could find was DNC’s blog reporting Tucker Carlson thinks he’s at the Clinton Library and Massage Parlour;

Limerick on February 2, 2007 at 3:18 PM

The blind (shiek) leading the naked.

Honestly, it’s rather bad to think that something sinister is afoot simply based on the fact that the Donks had an imam do their convocation.

I mean, it doesn’t necessarily embolden the enemy, nor prove that bin Laden was accurate in his assumption that the best way to get at America is via the Left.

However, it certainly doesn’t make the concept of the Dems holding the reigns of Congress, or the possiblity of one of them landing in the Oval Office, go down any easier.

The Dems have consistantly tripped the toe-poppers of radical playbook with reckless abandon since ‘79.

I’d hate to use the phrase “dancing with the devil;” but nothing else seems to come to mind.

Kinda’ makes me feel bad to have thoughts like that running about my brain; then again, wars aren’t usually fought to make people feel better.

So, the Donks are either demonstrating a proper and noble example of tolerance and inclusion that I normally wouldn’t do under the current circumstances; or, they’re just damned fools.

Color me jaded.

Well, why am I not surprised by this. I agree Kid from Brooklyn, Truman is weeping and spinning in his grave.

Editor on February 2, 2007 at 3:30 PM

This whole scene reminds me of a bad dream. Are the Dem’s really that clueless? What is missing from their awareness of reality that leads them to think this is a good thing? While generally considered a bright guy, I can’t comprehend the level of distortion/delusion that allows such ideas to go forward.

bopbottle on February 2, 2007 at 3:37 PM

I can’t wait because you know by the time the Democommunists have their convention they will have found the worlds only living female, Hispanic, Muslim imam to give the keynote address. To the African Americans who were their obedient base they will now kick to the curb. They are no longer as useful as they once were. Sorry Al Sharpton and Jesse time moves on and they like to call themselves progressives. There is a large untapped voting block of illegal, and discrimminated against foreingers to court now.

LakeRuins on February 2, 2007 at 3:41 PM

So do we have a name to go with the face yet?

Just curious…

The Ugly American on February 2, 2007 at 3:41 PM

This is far worse than the squeaky wheel syndrome. Why oh why do we allow the two or three percent of us tell the vast majority what to do AND how to do it?

Where is the majority? Why do we not matter anymore?

shooter on February 2, 2007 at 3:50 PM

I believe it’s Imam Husham Al-Husainy. He’s a Shia cleric from Dearborn.

CP on February 2, 2007 at 3:50 PM

Does this mean that the good imam wants the Muslim world to apologize for the occupation of Spain? Or its continuing occupation of all those North African and Middle Eastern lands it conquered from the Christians? Or was it meant as a rebuke to all the Muslims who want to occupy 10 Downing Street and the White House and the Vatican?

Now the game is to take bets on how long it will be before somebody digs up the dirt on this imam and discovers he’s been preaching hate in his mosque or collecting money for terrorists: a day, a week, a month?

The Ugly American on February 2, 2007 at 3:57 PM

I saw this guy on a TV show not long ago called “30 Days”. It’s on FX and is produced by lefty Morgan Spurlock. He took this country Christian guy and sent him to Dearborn to live as a Muslim for a month. This guy was one of the clerics he talked to up there.

“oppression and occupation” very typical words with all the dems and it just goes to show where thier heads are at. Amazing, the play book of the extremists working very well with the left.GOD BLESS our country and it’s future if this is what we have to look forward too. Where is common sense gone in the minds of those people??

bones47 on February 2, 2007 at 4:07 PM

Isn’t it a bit scary how the islamafascists and the left sound sooo much alike way too often?

shooter on February 2, 2007 at 4:11 PM

Jihad Watch says Yahya Hendi gave the 2004 benediction… and previously had this to say;

Whoever calls the people (and/or himself) to the following and obedience of another law other than the shari’a is a disbeliever and a mushrik.

The scholars of Usool-ul-Fiqh have all agreed on the axiom that “None has the right to legislate but Allah.”

That would rule out human documents like, say, the U.S. Constitution, wouldn’t it?

DNC’s Imam Testified for Sami al-Arian

Terp Mole on February 2, 2007 at 4:20 PM

The transcript for this post is a bit off and I believe the corrected transcript is important for readers to grasp the venom that was spat.

In the name of God the most merciful, the most compasionate.

We thank you God, to bless us among your creations. We thank you God, to make us as a great nation. We thank you God, to send us your messages through our father Abraham and Moses and Jesus and Mohammed. Through you, God, we unite. So guide us to the right path. The path of the people you blessed.. not the path of the people you doomed. Help us God to liberate and fill this earth with justice and peace and love and equality. And help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation.

Ahmen.

gee… I wonder who could he be referring to with “the people you doomed?”

12thman on February 2, 2007 at 4:28 PM

He speaks for “justice” too, but not liberty.

Jeremayakovka on February 2, 2007 at 4:30 PM

help us to stop the war and violence

Darfur? Gaza? Jakarta? France?

and end the oppression

Ending the oppression of non-muslims by muslims everywhere is always a good agenda.

and occupation.

Isn’t he referring to the Syrian occupation of Lebanon? No? Oh, the Palestinian occupation of Israeli land, right?

He’s pre-qualified for a tenured professorship at either the University of Colorado, or at Teacher’s College of Columbia U, especially as he’s slightly more articulate than much of the faculty at either place.

For awhile there he seemed to be channeling Joey Tribiani preparing for Monica and Chandler’s wedding. “Loving, and sharing, and having…”

AP, your transcript missed a few phrases:

“so guide us to the right path, the path of the people you blessed, not the path of the people you doomed. Help us God, to liberate and fill this Earth with justice, and peace, and love, and equality, and help us to stop the war, and violence, and oppression, and occupation.”

Justice = Sharia law
Peace = Destruction of Israel
Love = Submission to Islam
Equality = Dhimmitude for non-muslims

We can’t understand each other unless we define words the same. His listeners think he’s saying nice things. His followers know what he really means.

So AP, the railing against gays, the hatred toward those not identical in belief to him didn’t get Soothsayer the boot all this time; what exactly in his post crossed a line that he hadn’t crossed before? Not sarcasm, genuine curiosity.

Freelancer on February 2, 2007 at 4:44 PM

I would really question my political positions if they were identical to those who are trying to kill Americans. I don’t know… Tell me where I’m wrong?

x95b10 on February 2, 2007 at 4:52 PM

Do NOT question their patriotism. And, even they refer to US troops as occupiers and oppressors, do NOT accuse the DNC of not supporting the troops.

Blaise on February 2, 2007 at 4:55 PM

And help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation.

Do you suppose he was referring to “Occupation” as in “US army of occupation in Iraq” or as in “Israeli occupation of Palestine”? Both? Lately it works either way for the dems…

bofh on February 2, 2007 at 4:56 PM

I’m still waiting for the somewhat feminine man with his hair in a pony tail, tie-dyed “activist” T-shirt and burkenstocks, representing the ACLU, running around the room, waiving his arms in the air, protesting……

“Seperation of Church and State!…… Seperation of Church and State!…… Seperation of Church and State!……”

(there are those darn crickets agian)

Ahhhhh, the nuance of selective outrage. Gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

PinkyBigglesworth on February 2, 2007 at 5:15 PM

Just saw Bryan’s update. We had the wrong Imam.

Interesting reading here

Entelechy on February 2, 2007 at 5:25 PM

Great, not only is the DNC not supporting Israel by giving support to its enemies, but now they call in an Imam to pray for the destruction of all Jews.
Looks like Jesse doesn’t have to worry about “hymie town” for much longer, and Carter won’t have to worry about too many jews around.

right2bright on February 2, 2007 at 5:33 PM

Check out the “translation” of this imam’s prayer from JihadWatch:

…(T)he Imam is echoing the Fatiha, the first sura of the Qur’an and most common prayer of Islam. It asks Allah: “Show us the straight path, the path of those whom Thou hast favoured; not the (path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.” The traditional Islamic understanding of this is that the “straight path” is Islam — cf. Islamic apologist John Esposito’s book Islam: The Straight Path. The path of those who have earned Allah’s anger are the Jews, and those who have gone astray are the Christians.It is interesting to see the Democrats standing with heads bowed piously while the Imam Husham Al-Husainy prays, in veiled terms to be sure, for their conversion to Islam, and oh yes, for the destruction of Israel (”And help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation”).

Exactly–this and Arkin and all the other Occasions where the Demos reveal their True Selves: they’ve been getting away with their “we support the troops” lie for quite a while, but not that they are in power they’re getting arrogant–and sloppy.

I hope that in some dark basement somewhere in D.C. , Rove and his minions are assembling a video library of all the time these clowns slip up, and reveal themselves….

Janos Hunyadi on February 2, 2007 at 5:46 PM

….”but NOW that they are in power”… ( even Spellcheck woulddn’t have caught that one )

Janos Hunyadi on February 2, 2007 at 5:47 PM

Duh. Sorry Bryan. Didn’t see your link to JihadWatch.

IrishEi on February 2, 2007 at 5:47 PM

To all who are hoping that Rove and the Stupid Party are compiling all these cuddle sessions the Dems are having with our enemies for campaign ads: GET REAL!!!

The Stupid Party is so cowed by the Treason Media that they’re scrambling to catch up to the Defeatocrats with disatrous “non-binding resolutions” that are meant to signal to the Islamofascists to step up the killing of soldiers and innocents in order to hasten our retreat. In case things work out, they can claim that they didn’t hamper the war effort.

If these cowards REALLY wanted to make a stand, they’d be bringing REAL RESOLUTIONS to the floor to defund the war and/or impeach Bush. Quit kidding around with “we support the troops” nonsense and just pull the plug if it’s real so bad and Bush was such a liar as to fool all of you into voting for action! These symbolic measures are the coward’s path to having the cake and eating it. And these are supposed to be our leaders? Pffft!!!

This cartoon says it all. (h/t: Powerline)

This is really pretty astonishing. Believe it or not, there are plenty of truly moderate Imams out there that the Dems could have picked for this duty. The fact that they chose an overtly anti-semitic, anti-American jihadist is just…astonishing. How much longer before they present their Shariah ‘08 platform?

If you look at the excerpt from Debbie Schlussel, see 2nd update of this thread, you find how this dude instigates hate against Israel…

Yet, the Jewish vote is de facto for the Libs. Thus, they can afford to bring in Imams like this one and get away with it totally, and getting many of the Muslim votes.
