AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Frustration overload. Thats it I’m calling it a day.

Zetterson on February 2, 2007 at 10:19 AM

The Republican Party has now officially been subverted.

hillbillyjim on February 2, 2007 at 10:20 AM

It’s about the president’s belief that my voice could help the party win elections.

Here’s a clue. Its going to be awfully hard to win elections if Conservatives refuse to fund the Party because the Party refuses to act and vote like conservatives.

.

GT on February 2, 2007 at 10:41 AM

Will the last Conservative to leave Florida please kill the lights? Ham Country’s looking mighty good right about now…

Kid from Brooklyn on February 2, 2007 at 11:01 AM

Screw you guys. I’m going home.

Editor on February 2, 2007 at 11:08 AM

Well, of course he doesn’t. Didn’t we know that?

It’s now up to us to hammer our National Committeemen and women. We can’t just give up, kids. If we do, we have no one to blame but ourselves for the result.

Aunt B on February 2, 2007 at 11:17 AM

But I don’t have some agenda here

Riiiight! Whatever this scumbag says, believe the opposite.

infidel4life on February 2, 2007 at 11:37 AM

Well, the Republican party is now officially deceased. I guess I’ll head down to the County Clerk’s office and register as a Libertarian. This next election is not going to be pretty…

rmgraha on February 2, 2007 at 11:46 AM

I imagine the Republicans are under pressure from businessmen to allow them to import workers to substitute for the ones the Americans have been contraceiving since the 1960s and aborting since the 1970s.

Kralizec on February 2, 2007 at 11:50 AM

I’m all for his Hispanic outreach program, and also trying to woo the Hispanic voting bloc. What I’m against, however, is giving illegal aliens a ‘Get out of jail free’ card and ignoring the fact that they broke our laws when they came here illegally. Kick them the hell out, and tell them that if they want to apply for residence we’ll happily accept them with open arms.

dalewalt on February 2, 2007 at 11:57 AM

Doesn’t matter, fascism is coming under the guise of environmetalism. Surprising that more people aren’t paying attention to this. This site never mentions it, but will post up “who cares” stories every day.

lorien1973 on February 2, 2007 at 11:58 AM

I moved to a new location recently requiring new voter registration, etc.

Given the last two years election cycles the Democrat get out the vote people have visited me at least 6 times. The Republican campaign committee? Zero.

I’ve had 2 Democrat candidates and 1 liberal Republican knock on my door seeking my vote. Conservative Republican candidates? Zero.

Campaign stuff comming in the mail? I get Democratic fliers 10:1 over Republican.

The GOP/DNC can’t figure out why no one is voting for them?

My party is sooo pushing me to become a Libertarian it’s not even funny anymore.

Lawrence on February 2, 2007 at 12:13 PM

Bye bye America.

PRCalDude on February 2, 2007 at 12:21 PM

“…an immigration bill this year that will include a guest-worker program with “earned citizenship” requirements for illegal aliens. ”

At this point, a reporter (for the Wash Times no less) can write a sentence that nonsensical and it’s considered totally normal.

Alex K on February 2, 2007 at 12:27 PM

I wouldn’t say that the Republican party is dead. But, I would say that it is suffering from a very serious virus and needs to be treated immediately.

GT on February 2, 2007 at 12:28 PM

Let’s comment on a couple of things Mel said;

“I think it is important for people who would like to be American citizens, if they come here illegally, to pay some penalties for breaking the law,…

How about enforcing the existing law Mel. That would be a good start.

But the one thing that worries him the most is the residual anger and discontent at the party’s base that he says led to the House and Senate losses in November…

“There is some anger out there at our party’s grass roots. We have to show them we’ve heard their message loud and clear and that we understand it,”

And your strategy for addressing the residual anger and discontent for not listening to the grass roots is to support a guest worker program? Look at the polls Mel, the base hates the damn thing.

But he said he is under no illusions about Republicans making a comeback in the next elections, noting that the party will have 21 senators up for re-election to only 12 for the Democrats.

Maybe between now and then you can clarify the meaning of Republican for me Mel. I’m not sure what a Republican is anymore.

BacaDog on February 2, 2007 at 12:38 PM

The same tired, “we can’t deport them” straw man. And he didn’t forget the “pay back taxes” canard. But there are no back taxes to be paid – the reason businesses want the illegals is that they can get away with paying them next to nothing. People who don’t earn much don’t pay taxes, and in fact are subsidized by the earned income tax credit.

I’m still voting Republican because the alternative is to vote Democrat, keep the illegals, pay higher taxes and lose the war. But the money I would have given the GOP is going to the Minutemen.

Laura on February 2, 2007 at 12:41 PM

It’s gotten to the point where Glenn Reynolds now has a “Bizarre Death Wish Watch” over on InstaPundit, featuring the latest self-immolation moves from the Republican leadership.

Very frustrating these days, when it seems that the only “hope” we have is that the donks will screw up things so badly over the next two years that we can do to them in 2008 what they did to the Republicans in 2006: “Had enough?”

Spurius Ligustinus on February 2, 2007 at 1:13 PM

We need border security and strong assimilation.

STRONG ASSIMILATION??? To which country?

Living in Southern California, the only strong assimilation I see is that I have to learn Spanish, provide education, health care and housing for millions of illegal aliens from Mexico, and suffer through countless La Raza protests that call me a Pilgrim, that this continent is theirs, I have to leave, and if I am not Hispanic, I am the one who is a second classs citizen!

The Minutemen are vigilanties, Border Patrol Agents are going to jail for doing their jobs, the unarmed National Guard is being attacked by armed insurgents into the United States on a daily basis and are froced to RETREAT!!!

Billions of dollars are being sent back to Mexico while I am being forced to pay for the social services for these people.

The Mexican Government consistantly interviens in internal law enforcement investigations involving illegal aliens, Federal Prosecuters are instructed to never prosecute and illegals or smuggler that are caught, and if they do, they are fired.

And after all this, the fence is not being funded……..

And they wonder why we are pissed!

PinkyBigglesworth on February 2, 2007 at 1:15 PM

But the money I would have given the GOP is going to the Minutemen.

Laura on February 2, 2007 at 12:41 PM

Now that’s creative thinking. Good one, Laura! And we can make copies of our checks to the Minutemen, and send those back to the GOP in their own envelopes!

RushBaby on February 2, 2007 at 1:50 PM

STRONG ASSIMILATION??? To which country?
PinkyBigglesworth on February 2, 2007 at 1:15 PM

Good question Pinky! Allah is not going to like this but a legitimate organization is now concerned about the NAU.

brtex on February 2, 2007 at 1:52 PM

And we can make copies of our checks to the Minutemen, and send those back to the GOP in their own envelopes!

Rushbaby, agreed. :-) And this is not to say that all Repubs are unworthy of support – my Rep and one of my Senators have excellent immigration report cards. If they’re in a close race, they’ll have my financial support as well as my vote.

Laura on February 2, 2007 at 2:03 PM

These stories remind me why I laugh myself to tears everytime I receive a plea from republicans for me to donate money to the party, so they can fight for the issues that are important to me. Then I shove it in the paper shredder without opening it. What a pantload. Of course we are not surprised by his position, we knew when he was chosen this was one of the reasons. This dysfunctional party is sealing their fate to head out into the wilderness for a long time. The RNC leadership just doesn’t get it. We need a rank and file republican revolt and get some folks with stones in charge. Can’t suggest Mr. Steele often enough.

still468 on February 2, 2007 at 2:22 PM

…this is not to say that all Repubs are unworthy of support…

Laura on February 2, 2007 at 2:03 PM

Exactly. Support the individuals. The party, not so much.

RushBaby on February 2, 2007 at 3:00 PM

Are the Libertarians accepting new members?

Militant Bibliophile on February 2, 2007 at 8:51 PM

Well… Mr. Martinez, what DO you think about in the morning? If you’re going to presume to be a govt. leader you’d better start thinking about it. “It” is one of America’s most pressing problems.

Mojave Mark on February 2, 2007 at 11:20 PM

Are the Libertarians accepting new members?

Yes, but we fear the government, not Mexicans. Actually, we rather like Mexicans. They’re generally hard-working and they do jobs that Americans can’t or won’t do (disagree? you can mow my lawn for $4 an hour to prove me wrong.)

Mark Jaquith on February 3, 2007 at 12:55 AM

Sorry, the government won’t let me do it for $4.00 an hour, that would be under the minimum wage… It’s not that American’s won’t do the job as much as it’s that they are not allowed to do the job for as cheap as illegals can do it. Yet the minimum wage is going to be increased, that will fix the problem *rolls eyes*
